    Poutine au poulet
    Jean Sébastien F.

This place is located inside the timeout market on the top floor. This place is a cafeteria style where you order somewhere and take it back to a table. All restaurants here use buzzer so you can sit and wait until it buzz to get your food. I tried the chicken poutine at campo. It was ok. The fries are normal, not seasoning of any kind. The sauce reminds me of canned sauce I can buy at the grocery stores and the chicken was fat, something I really don't like. All in all, for a better poutine, there's a lot of option around and same price. Maybe the rest of the food is better.

Swung by quickly on my lunch break between meetings to grab some poutine. Wasn't my favorite poutine I had during my trip but got the job done. Service was friendly and quick, which I really appreciated!

The chicken sandwich was delicious! The chicken was cooked well and the sauce pairs great with it. The bread was crispy and perfectly fluffy on the inside. Our server was also super friendly and attentive.

This was our second visit for mouthwatering Portuguese Chicken. The first visit was earlier in the summer of 2021 when we stumbled on the location walking our Golden Retrievers up the hill from Old Montreal. I'm a huge fan of Cafe Ferreira and knew from the website that Campo existed but I had no idea it was literally around the corner. They had an outdoor dining area that allowed dogs so we ordered chicken, fries, salad and a surprisingly decent bottle of Portuguese white wine. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious! Tip 1: Make sure you get some hot sauce on the side. We had such a great time that we tried several Saturday afternoons over the summer but it wasn't open for some reason. No idea why but it's a bummer traipsing a couple of km's up the hill in the heat only to find no sign of life. They should really update the website or at least put a sign in the window if it's not going to be open. Tip 2: Call them to make sure they are open. We followed Tip 2 last Saturday and sure enough they were open. I figured the patio was closed this late in the season so we walked up sans Golden Retrievers. I think we ordered exactly the same meals and were not disappointed! The chicken is so moist and spicy, love it! They serve it on top of a huge portion of fries that get even yummy-er with the hot sauce dripping down on them. Tip 3: Ask for extra napkins. Campo is an interesting concept: high quality "fast" food, a nice selection of salads and other sides, and a small selection of beer and wine all at very reasonable prices.

    Bifana

Food I ordered a Bifana sandwhich which comes with fries and a side salad. I had first tried a Bifana during a trip to Porto a few weeks ago and wasn't super excited about it at the time, but Campo changed my mind! The house sauce that coats the pork was a positively stark difference from my first experience. There was just the right amount of tanginess in the sauce that's reminiscent of a mustard. Honestly, the side salad was even a welcome guest for me, a reprieve from the heavier meals (read: poutine and bagels) I've had thus far in Montreal :) Value A bit pricier than I would've expected after a string of comparatively affordable eats elsewhere in Montreal -- the one entree ran me $16. Experience Housed in one of Time Out's markets, the vibe remains consistent with their other markets I've visited. The interior is sophisticated, but approachable and the eateries are very much the same: elevated, but not stuffy. I was there on a Saturday at 7pm and it was easy to find a pair of seats!

3.5 Stars leaning towards 4. I love the concept of this place. A clean and modern place for lunch that serves delicious chicken and alcoholic beverages at a competitive price. Adam works in an office and he said it's the perfect place for a low-key business meeting. Portions are ok but some meals are pricier than others. For example, the chicken poutine is around 17$ with tax and it's not bigger than a combo meal thigh. The chicken is savoury and well seasoned. The fries are just ok but I like that they place the chicken on top of them so they get a bit of flavour. Overall, not a bad Portuguese chicken place. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

So I'm in Montreal once again and once again, lost. My Google maps never seems to work properly and I couldn't find my office. That was fine as I was hungry and looking for lunch. After some circling, I found a spot with outdoor seating and there were people! I went in and realized it was a chicken spot. Portuguese chicken to be exact. I went with the chicken sandwich and as I checked out, the line started to form. This place got crowded quick. I sat down to my chicken sandwich and found that they had piri piri sauce. It's their version of hot sauce. Wow, it was yummy with just a bit of kick to it. By the time I was done, half the bottle was gone and I was sweating. I highly recommend this spot for a satisfying lunch.

Excellent Portuguese chicken! Some of the best in Montreal, very well located, in the heart of downtown Montreal near McGill University and Concordia University. The staff is super friendly and funny, they'll chop the chicken in front of you. Super good marinated chicken, comes with some delicious fries and salad. The price is decent and the portions are reasonable.

I'm glad to have found this chicken shop. I was on the look out for Portuguese restaurants as that is something I cannot find at home. The chicken leg has good flavor and marinade. I had the quarter leg combo, which means it comes with fries and salad, although it doesn't say so on the menu. Drinks are not included. This combo meal costs 11 dollars, which is reasonable for the portion size. Packaged Salad options are romaine or white cabbage salad. The dressing was very good. The peri peri bottles on the tables are quite strong spicy, so be careful. Most chicken shops are a bit dirty, but it was quite clean here. This is counter service and you get your order after 5 minutes or so and then you pay at the counter. The guy taking my order was very confused and first almost over charged me by 6 dollars, then over charged by 4 dollars, then charged me the correct amount, but gave me 10 dollars short change back that I had to go back for. Apparently he also thought a quarter chicken was a half chicken. I put it down to him just being tired and some language barrier. Not a typical tourist stop, which was a refreshing change for me, lot of local crowds and after work groups in suits. They serve beer and wine. I thought they would have more options for sides here, but mainly just fries, grilled chorizo and chicken croquettes. The glowing fire chicken is cool and lights up the room. Little kids have put up their drawings of the chicken logo on the walls.

We came here at the recommendation of a friend. Husband and I ordered the Quinoa Salad with Rotisserie Chicken. And a Quarter Chicken to share! The sauces it came with complimented the food perfectly. The Quinoa Salad was definitely the winner of the night!! The food quality and taste was excellent!! Service was friendly and helpful! The interior is cosy and laid back! Will definitely be coming here very soon and will recommend this spot to others looking for place for rotisserie chicken!

1/4 chicken leg combo comes with salad and fries
    Kalai M.

I had the 1/4 leg combo for $11. It comes with fries and a small salad ($1 extra for the quinoa salad). The fries were average, the texture was similar to old fries that had simply been refried. As for the chicken, it was quite dry and I found myself constantly adding piri piri sauce to add more flavour. My sister,on the other hand, had the chicken sandwich to which they added cheese curds and she quite enjoyed it... so I have mixed feelings about this one.

    Half chicken + salad + fries = 18.40$ wtf

Guys and gals, this is a seriously SUBPAR Portugese chicken place ran by a businessman with obviously no kitchen experience or culinary skills. The GOOD: The design at this place is on point, best looking Portugese chicken place I've been to. That is obviously the work of whoever they hired to do the design. I like the logo (refer to my photos). The sauce they squeeze (from a squeeze bottle) on their chicken is pretty good. It's not spicy, but it was the only flavourful element on the chicken so yeah, I liked it. The BAD: Chicken is small, a bit overcooked (mushy texture), and dry. The way they store/warm their cooked chicken is also troubling me. It's stored in a (hopefully) heated tray left in open air (tray is not covered). The chicken I got was lukewarm. They are 3 people in the cooking area, they work like confused snails, and the food comes out at an amateur rate. This restaurant has been open since September 2016, it's been 6months. How are they still so incompetent? The half chicken, salad and fries is considered a combo, and they sell it for 15$. It's more expensive than any other portugese chicken place I can think of, and that is OK since it's in downtown, but what is NOT OK is the far inferior quality and quantity of food. You can get a whole chicken for 5$ at any supermarket. For some reason, I was charged 18.40$ total for this 15$ combo. What. I only realized after I left that 15$ + taxes is not as high as 18.40$. Man, I don't remember the last time I felt like I needed to share a review right after eating there.

    11$ combo

So many great Portuguese chicken places in this city. This is unfortunately not one of them. Being a semi-regular customer at Romados and Poule Mouillée, I am accustomed to good portuguese chicken. I decided to give this place a try after a friend recommended me. First thing I noticed while entering the restaurant was the high prices (eg. 11$ for a chicken thigh combo). Being already inside, I ordered the thigh combo, which comes with a small salad and some fries. The chicken itself was pretty bland and the portion was fairly small. Definitely not was I was expecting for that price. A good part is the decor looks very nice and it has a small terrasse. Other than that, I could not really recommend this place.

Great fries, with chorizo + bits of chicken, good amount of cheese curds and finally smothered w/gravy. I thought the gravy might be an afterthought/not interesting- but no, it was delicious. You walk in the door and all you smell is chicken grilling+ chargrilled goodness. They offer a1/2chicken w/salad+ fries. Since we were ordering the poutine we didn't want those extra sides; we just ordered whole chicken. They'll ask, spicy or not? We got 'spicy' -basically the orange sauce in pics. It's not at all 'spicy hot' -but tastes garlicky, rich and delicious. Great choice. Chicken is Portuguese style; with a chargrilled taste, very juicy and well seasoned. Talked to several people who were near us eating about how great the food was, and found out that like us, several of them were out of towners who'd asked a local "where to eat" in town. Every single person was raving about how delicious it all was. This place is the Bomb! Absolutely a 'Do Not miss' in Montreal. The small poutine we ordered was huge! And the large sized poutine others bought was size of a ham on the large plate. Even with 2 hungry people and my Hubbie is a big dude, we brought almost 1/2 of our food home to finish the next day. Not bad for $34+ tax. PS One pic is from neighboring table's plate- the guy said "Please do take a picture. What a find! I can't believe this place".

The prices are what you would expect from a nice restaurant, a bit expensive but fair, and they have numerous selections to choose from. I hadn't tried Portuguese fried sardines before and they were quite delicious, and served with lemon and a spicy piri piri sauce that really enhanced the dish--big portion and had leftovers! The grilled Chorizo was delectable as well, with the charcoal flavor really shining through--not too spicy. My favorite dish was the Pork and Clams stew, a classic Portuguese surf and turf dish that was a little potato heavy but the flavor was perfect with hints of lemon, red pepper paste, and a salty, but not-too-salty brine on the tender pork loin. Another dish I tried was the grilled pork medallions: it was a bit average but still good. The potatoes were a little soggy/not crispy and the green salad was a touch too simple with just balsamic vinegar and olive oil; nothing special, but decent. The grilled Portuguese chicken was pretty nice and had that charbroiled/grilled flavor and the meat was quite juicy. The large serving is enough to share if you aren't too hungry and came with same sides as the pork medallions dish, which felt a bit repetitive... The waiter was very attentive and checked up on our table often. Good service. I prefer Aldea, another Portuguese restaurant a few blocks away, since they had similar prices and a bit better quality, more uniqueness of flavor...but if you are feeling a more homey, family-style energy then Casa Minhota is perfect for you.
