In lovely Montpelier, we stopped by Sarducci's for lunch on our way to Stowe. What a GREAT find…read more To start, we ordered some bread with garlic oil. The oil was infused with lots of crushed garlic, which left the oil itself so fragrant and tasting of garlic. Perfection. I ordered a Greek Salad with some grilled chicken added. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and their Margherita pizza. The Greek salad was magnificent... beautiful presentation, huge salad and lots of wonderful ingredients (mixed greens, marinated artichoke hearts, chickpeas, red onion, Greek olives, feta cheese and roasted red peppers), all of which I love. I always get it with Caesar dressing, just my preference, and I'm always glad I do. Their Caesar dressing was particularly delicious to add to the enjoyment of the salad. What was even a greater surprise was how much I LOVED my husband's pizza. He always offers me a slice, and I usually take one bite and say thank you. This pizza was so freaking good, I ate the entire slice. It was amazing. I think it was the pizza sauce because that pizza style usually is boring to me. This was AMAZING. Another restaurant I'm sad I don't live near. It'd be a really long car ride to get here from where I live, but if YOU are in the area, make sure you give them a try. So worth your time and money.

We enjoyed the mussels gauzzetto and calamari fritti. The Mediterranean chicken was well prepared and tasty. The pasta special was spinach feta almond slices in a light tomato sauce and I substituted penne for fettucine - I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The margherita pizza was good. We suspect you need reservations for prime dining hours on a weekend. The decor feels a little dated but the food is great. We can forgive the $2 for a quarter loaf of bread because it's only a few dollars and the bread was fresh and served with garlic oil, not like overpriced $10-$12 Parker House Rolls, but it's not a good trend to charge for bread. Service was good until we wanted to pay our bill - that took a little bit. We'll happily return.

They recommended them for their homemade meatballs. So 10 of us went over there for lunch today and we ended up meeting the owner of the restaurant, David and they had some really exceptional Service. It was like right on top of everything. They took their time they took our order separately had no problem right and separate check since it was like a 10 of us was five couples. we also tried a Caesar salads as well as the pizzas. We had the sausage pizza because we had the homemade meatball appetizer and then everything was just really delicious. We ended up meeting some folks in the next room. Because they had a beautiful buffet set up and it was just amazing how excellent it was looking. I mean the food all smell fantastic come to find out the young man explained to me that they were actually there for their aunt service that she had actually passed away in January 2024, but she had been a professor and her husband has been a judge and so he already passed away so what they did was they took her ashes all over the world they came from England and Ireland. They took her ashes like five different places of the six different places over the past year so they could take and have a party with each one of the family members a friend who couldn't make it to one place or the other All at the same time so then they just brought her back here and they buried her this morning with her husband in Mawn Phelia in the cemetery and they were having the app party for here afterwards I just thought that was like the neatest thing to do for anyone. And they seem like very very nice people so it was kind of cool. I would definitely go here again. I would definitely recommend it as a place to go. We were able to eat on the patio on the front porch of the restaurant of the Montpelier Inn and really it was very interesting watching all the people in the cars and stuff go by and it was just you know it was fun so yeah so definitely make this a destination stop if you're in the town.

Diane, John, and their crew of dedicated employees, opened this restaurant in the summer of 2020, in the middle of an international pandemic, and still managed to rise to the top as a fantastic, family-oriented, slow food restaurant in a small town with several well established restaurants as its base. Their idea was grounded in the "simple" grilled cheese sandwich, reimagined in some delightfully tasty presentations. The menu is modest and, other than seasonal specials, is steadfast in its design! I have eaten there more times than I can count and have YET to experience any deviation from the quality they presented at the outset! How many restaurants can attest to that, alone? The atmosphere is homey (it is a former home in a lovely neighborhood), the service is top-notch and the food is delicious. The management attends to every table at least once during your stay (so there was ample opportunity for this customer to express any concerns to the person in the best position to correct any issues), and the staff consists of community members who are our friends, neighbors, or children thereof. So special is this space, the youth servers appear every spring in their prom-best to have their pictures taken with Diane and John! How special is that???!!!! This is a team that places community at the center of their work: even facilitating massive community fundraising efforts post-flood, 2024 and 2025! If you live in this area, you already know what a gem this place is. If you are visiting, put a night out (or lunch) on your "must do" list while exploring Barre's rich granite industry history. We were disappointed but figured we'd give it a shot. Owner was a nice guy, but I immediately got the vibe of a place that doesn't know what it wants to be. It felt like they were surprised to have customers. They heavily advertise pizza, however the pizza kitchen was closed for whatever reason. That was fine, we ordered a Turkey sandwich (Turkey, bacon, maple chipotle, ranch, greens, and Pepper Jack) which was delicious. While waiting, another customer came in looking for pizza and when hearing the kitchen was closed, he said, "this is my 3rd time here and every time I come there is no pizza, you're not very consistent". He still ordered food, I am sure it was great. Most people who wandered in were looking for the Red Hen, we heard the owner tell at least 2 other customers, that the Red Hen had moved out a few months ago. It must get tiring. The place was understaffed, looked like a 2 man operation, owner taking orders, taking calls on his cell phone, and another guy in the kitchen, making sandwiches and bringing them out to tables. That being said, I would still give it another shot and give them some time to get their act together. The sandwich was delicious. I hope they do well, but to survive in the restaurant business you need to be on your game.
