No idea why anyone would give this a 1 star review. We had a lot of fun. For $6 a head you get a…read more30-45 minute tour of their first ice cream factory. That was cool, hearing about the history, wins and losses (some flavors just weren't destined for greatness). and the entire behind-the-scenes processes. At the end you get a sample, though it is small. And once outside again you can buy as much as you want at the store. But for $6 that's not bad at all; we learned quite a bit about ice cream itself, which was cool. Highly recommended, and very easy to find just off the main highway/Rt 100.

Before I wrote my own review, I had to go and read the 1 star reviews because I can't believe…read moresomeone could give this place only 1 star. I do see their point, it is a bit of a "tourist trap" as evidenced by their paid 30 min tour and silly flavor graveyard but I think if you're someone that has enjoyed Ben and Jerry's ice cream, the "trap" actually feels like more of a feel good/nostalgia thing. Tickets for the tour are purchased online in advance. You are warned multiple times that you might not see actual production but we were lucky enough to see them making some cherry garcia when we went. The factory is pretty small as their majority production is done elsewhere where people that give 1 star reviews don't get to go. The ice cream that we got to try on the tour was available at the window and that was kind of a bummer. I will admit that it would have made the $50 I spent on the tour a bit less painful if we had some secret flavor. Either way, it was neat to see how they do things in an almost wonka-like way. After the tour we all had some ice cream from the window. Once again, it was the same flavors you can buy in the store. People were friendly enough and overall we had a great time. The ice cream was amazing as always!

We didn't make it too far out of town, into Waterbury to be exact, before the aroma of chocolate drew us in. A nice variety of specialty and discounted items has you feeling like you've saved on the factory mishaps so you can splurge on some one-of-a-kind delicacies or more gourmet items. Regular chocolate bars and all their varieties were arranged in a nice display that's easy to understand and decide which flavors you'll bring home as gifts. The highlight of the stop, however, was the hot chocolate bar, which featured their blends from around the world. With options for sweet or rich, like the Aztec Chocolate (featuring chipotle, ancho and cinnamon) and more intense dark chocolate, hazelnut or peppermint alternatives. It's quite a fun and educational stop, the staff is very accommodating and informative and helps you make decisions based on solid personal recommendations...it must be bittersweet working around chocolate all day, but our once-through was both savory and sweet!

I ended up getting some chocolate and artisan coffee for my gifts. I also tried their limited caramel pecan chocolate. The chocolate was nice and sweet with bold dark chocolate flavor. Service was good overall Price was on the expensive side. Overall it's a good chocolate store. I believe the main location at lake champlain as its name but since we didn't stop by when we visited lake champlain we figure we stop by here.

Where to start? Being from out of town my wife and I wanted something good but not too pricey…read more Upon looking at some reviews we fell on this place, which we had never been to, and decided to give them a shot. Upon walking in you'll notice that it is a very small restaurant with their lights dimmed low. The bar area is ready to be taken in photo and put in one of those decorations magazines. The hostess was great, the waiter we got was really friendly, knowledgeable and the food recommendations were FANTASTIC. We got the chicken wings with pickled carrots and house ranch, the side of pulled pork, their Pig Mac burger (a double) and their duck fat French fries (OMG). Everything was good, we would just look at each other and say "did you try this, did you have a bite of that?" my only regret is that I didn't get a chance to try their skillet cookie and that we live more than an hour away. We will definitely go back and eat at this restaurant again.

It gets busy and they don't take reservations. They do have an online waitlist but we went around 4:30 and didn't have to utilize it. Our party of 6 climbed camel's hump earlier in the day and showed up famished. We knew this was the right pig out spot for us to refuel from the moment we walked in, smelled the food and saw the amazing ceiling-high bar. The smoked meats were outstanding. High quality cuts smoked to perfection. We had an order of every meat they offer and they were all just as good. That being said, I could go back just for the cornbread w maple butter. My word, it was like eating cake for dinner. The Mac & cheese was ooey and gooey with a nice crispy top. And the cookie skillet was like a party in your mouth. We didn't think we'd be able to finish everything but there wasn't a crumb to be found when we were done. As far as service goes, it was as good as I've ever had at a place like this. Our server was laid back yet always on top of things. We never waited for anything and her timing was perfect. There's outdoor seating if that's your jam. We sat in the large table by the window and got to look out on main st. It couldn't have been more perfect.

The warm wood decor was very inviting and we were impressed with the calm projected from the open kitchens. For drinks, my friend got a chilled wine which she loved and I had a tasty Hen of the Wood cider. For food, every dish was a hit. Parker house rolls with radish butter, a local cheese with their homemade crackers and apple hazelnut sauce. The heirloom tomato and beet appetizer set on a sauce of tahini and chili oil was honestly my favorite taste of the evening - that sauce combo was so yummy. We shared the duck entree and very delicate broccolini side - divine. The lemon posset and corn ice cream for dessert. Anything you order will be fabulous. We had reserved our table far in advance, but the bar seemed to have decent turnover rates so I imagine one could have a good chance walking in for dinner there.

Couple of notes: 1)…read moreapparently, the menu changes frequently. For example only one or two things on the yelp menu were on the menu I received 2) New American is a very apt characterization of the menu with emphasis on new. As in new to the point of unusual/unfamiliar/avant guard. 3) I am not a huge fan of cruciferous vegetables and the offering was chock full of them, like Ham and Pork Belly with buttered Cauliflower 4) I could not find an entree that sounded terrific from the 4 offered that day. The hanger steak on the menu Yelp showed would have been great. 5) I had two of the starters - chicken liver pate with grilled bread and salami cotto. They were good. Pate is hard to make into a stand out. The Salami appeared to be made in house and was quite good but would have been better to share -- it's a lot of salami 5). The place was full and loud. Not sure why restaurants with hard surfaces and high ceilings think bass driven background music is the thing to do, but it appears to be. The noise volume detracted from the intimacy of a couples dinner. If you are really adventurous- this place is for you. If you favor the more familiar with a twist, you may be there the wrong night.
