The people who work there are nice enough, but 90% of them don't know what they're talking about. There's only like one or two people who actually know what they're doing and you have to wait forever to speak to them. There's always a ton of people there, never enough staff to accommodate. My only experience was with the service department. My coach spent over 6 months total, work orders incomplete and/or lousy work. Same items needed work 3-4 times and never properly done. Some items checked as fixed and charged the manufacturer for warranty work. Did I mention slow? That too. I recommend to go for service somewhere else. read more

We purchased our first travel trailer at Camping World in Kingston last summer. We were very happy with the staff and service in the beginning. We dropped our camper for general repairs for factory items that were not property installed in December. We reviewed the entire list and had specific concerns that included the shower, interior walls and microwave not staying in place, cabinets not staying closed in transit and windows not opening properly. This was a problem as we purchased a brand new trailer and expected it to be in usable condition. We also ordered trailer and tire covers at the same visit. We schedule to pick up the trailer this week and we also tried to confirm that our travel trailer cover and tire cover would be there to pick up with the trailer. The sales person informed us that the item was backordered and we weren't able to pick it up. It was quite apparent that it was never ordered to begin with! This was problem #1! We arrived in Kingston and did not have the same experiance as we did on the first visits to Camping World. First, the items we were mostly concerned with in the new travel trailer that we previously discussed and included in a list, were not done. It was suggested that it wasn't on the list due to our fault. We took time to review everything and made sure they understood when we dropped it for service. We now have to take another trip for service to take care of two important items that were neglected and it's over a 90 mile drive with the cost of tolls and gas! This was unacceptable. Second, when we moved to the retail department to make sure that our trailer cover was ordered, it was obvious that they were rushed and confused by the simple idea that what we were promised was not done and they were rushing to try and do it at that time. Unacceptable. We decided after the completion of this specific service, we will be going elsewhere in the future. I feel I must write this. At first, CW was my breath of fresh air after a horrible experience buying my towing car. Tyler was awesome. However, we hit a down hill slope. After our demo, we were told we weren't taking it home that day because the hitch receiver size was wrong. Ok fine, we had a hotel booked the following weekend anyway. So they ordered another receiver. No one told me that the type of vehicle I had is not recommended for towing. I didn't get a call saying the receiver came in, so I called and was told it got there two days before. I ultimately had to call five times before they scheduled us to get in to get that hitch receiver on. Note that I had not taken delivery of my new purchase. Some of the experience I take responsibility for, because I used to be a good researcher but I failed to come on here and look at these reviews for one, and two, I was not educated fully to know about towing capacity. I lost my trailer keys due to related upset. When I called Tyler, he did not know that you have to take the plate off the door to get the key number and order it. I was very surprised CW doesn't train their sales people. I cannot recommend them. I've got the Good Sam warranty and they are the closest service place available, but quite frankly, I'm afraid to bring my trailer there for service after reading these reviews. When they post the comment saying the contact address for customer service, don't bother contacting them because I did that weeks before leaving this review. This morning I went back to Camping World Kingston to fix some problems. TV didn't work, pocket door off track, and there's a propane leak somewhere. I get there it's a 2 hour ride from Howard Beach Queens. The service department takes all the info down , and tells me it'll take a month to fix no one told me I had to drop it off ,I told them how do I get Home it's not 15 min. Away they said it's not like a car dealer so I left and took it home. I figured a propane leak is a priority to get it fixed it's dangerous to have that around. I got home went and bought a 24" TV for 184 dollars,fixed the pocket door myself in less then 1 hour , tomorrow I'll get a leak detector and put some propane in to see we're the leak is I'll do it myself I never bring it back to those f--ks for anything. I wish I could give LESS than HALF a STAR. RECOMMENDATION: GO ELSEWHERE!!! I have been looking online for several months and I did see a Cougar travel trailer online at Camping World Kingston, NY which I liked. I called the store and the salesman I spoke to was Joe. He was nice and told him what I was looking at and if he could give me a price. His next question was, "well, will you be buying it today?" I said No, I wouldn't BUY a trailer without seeing it first. He said OK...I'll get back to you. That was the last time I heard from him. I went to Camping World Kingston and stopped at the desk and said I want to look at some travel trailers. First question was, "do you have an appointment?" I said NO, didn't seem very busy and had no idea I would need an appointment on a Monday morning. I was told she would see if anyone was available. Twenty minutes later Don Markle, Salesman, met me and showed me the trailers I had listed. Long story short, I put a deposit on a Jayco 202 Eagle 330RSTS. I wasn't happy that the price was fixed and they wouldn't work with me on my trade in even after I told them I'm a loyal Camping World customer...didn't seem to matter. They said, people are buying RV's now and camping because of pandemic so they cant do any better on price. I said, OK, I'll look at the numbers when I get home. Don said Joe Zaccaria, Finance Manager, would call to go over things and set up an appointment. I left at 2:30pm. On Wednesday I called Don and said I haven't heard from Joe, he said he'd look into it. Thursday evening about 7:00pm Joe left a message on my cell. (I personally don't care to do business after dinner hours) I called him back at 10:30 the following morning (Friday) and left a message. He didn't return my call. Friday came and went and finally on Saturday when I still hadn't heard from Joe I called Camping World again. AGAIN I left Joe a message. I then called Don's cell phone and had to leave him a message. Joe finally called me back about 20 minutes later. He insisted he called and left me a message on Friday and there are NO MESSAGES on my cell phone!! I said no, it was Thursday. I said I no longer want the trailer. I felt you wouldn't work with me on the price, the trade in, etc even though I'm a repeat customer. I said please credit my credit card. He said he would have to have the General Manager call me. I said how long will that be??? About ten minutes later the General Manager of Kinston Camping World Michael Luciano called me. He seemed quite annoyed and I said I would like a credit. WHY? He asked, you cant just cancel the deal!!! I said I wasn't happy with the price, I wasn't happy with the service and especially not happy that no one would call me unless I called them. Michael, General Manager, said that I was "holding up his inventory"!!! I said WHAT??? I've been waiting for your people to call me and no one has...so don't tell me I'm holding up your inventory. On top of that, between the salesman and finance manager they feel they can sell this trailer in minutes with all the people buying trailers...so don't tell me I'm holding up your inventory!!! I said this is ridiculous just credit my account for the deposit. Michael Lucico, General Manager of Camping World Kingston, then said "you are right this is ridiculous!" AND THEN HE HUNG UP ON ME!!! Will I EVERY step foot in another Camping World....hell NO!!! Will I ever recommend Camping World...Hell NO!!! I have never been treated to rudely in my life. How dare he hang up on a repeat Camping World customer. I guess business is so good at Camping World they don't need me....However...I DON'T NEED OR WANT CAMPING WORLD!!! Im really not sure where to start! First off yes they are friendly and helpful until your purchase and then you can scratch it, it ends there. I was told trailer would be ready in 5 days only to come back and find out that it hadn't been touched. Then after waiting another 5 hours for them to do what needed to be done we find out the roof was never sealed as they had stated in their info and in person it was. I can go on and on about numerous things that went wrong in this transaction but I would have to type all day. I really thought the sales person was pretty decent until the minute I didn't agree with something then I was treated and talked to horribly!!!! I was told "what do you expect it's a used trailer". I will say our experience with the sales dept is very shady. We put deposit on travel trailer to find out it was sold to someone else. It took several attempt to get in touch with our Salesman Joe D. What a horrible way to deal with his customers. The sales manager Michael did try to make things better by getting a new Rig in and prepped for us as quickly as possible, ( had to threaten we were not going to go through with the deal if it wasn't ready for us ) as we had a trip planned. The Tech Al Risner was very good at explaining all of our new RV to us during our walk through. Our first trip went great. However, when we got home we realized we never tried working the RV sides off the batteries. We found our RV doesn't work without being plugged in. Called the Service dept and after a few attempts spoke to Service Manager George B. We tried several things to rectify the issue however, to no avail. I asked to bring it in hoping for a quick turn around since it was only 6 days since we purchased the Travel Trailer. Unfortunately, they are quite busy to get us in and out before our next trip next week. I have spoken to several people and think its the inverter/converter. I want to tell the world what a great experience I just had at this Camping World, It started with my first email to Mellissa inquiring about a trailer (who was a sweetheart) Very helpful and informative!!!! I decided take the ride with my wife and visit the dealership...We ended up buying a new 5th Wheel and took delivery yesterday....They have a great sales staff starting with all the help and assistance I received from Daryyl ...He is a true asset to the organization and "not your typical pushy salesman" He knows the products well and if looking for any type of camper ask for Daryll, tell him "Bob Sent you".... The PDI Staff were amazing, Danielle walked me through the whole process as she was tackling ten other projects at once, and Norm did the walk through making sure to tell me every fine detail about the trailer and hooking it up to my truck. If I could give less stars I would. We bought a toy hauler less than 30 days ago the entire process was a mess no keys doors don't work. An effort to open the awning or tent their words. They tried to upsell the entire time couldn't complete a simple cash register transaction and now the financing is so messed up. The registration not active but corporate says it's ok to drive unregistered as long as you are careful and don't get pulled over!!!! Wow is all I can say!!!! Please save yourself the hassle and buy elsewhere. I appreciate the Good Sam immediate response but I did not post this review without first personally attempting to rectify the issue with the establishment, general manager and corporate office. I do not write reviews especially bad reviews haphazardly. My experience ( much like my experience in purchasing a different RV and needing warranty work from the same Store in 2014 ) was less than satisfying. 08/29 8 AM Appointment (made 4 weeks prior to bring my RV in for a radio replacement) 09/05 called for status to find out that a Tech was assigned to work on the rig on 09/04 but "today" was the techs day off, CW also called THOR with wrong VIN number to get authorization to replace Radio under warranty and stopped work till "they hear from me" 09/07 called for status no returned call 09/08 received call stating that replacement radio is not working and THOR Authorization is needed to work on unit to determine problem 09/11 called THOR to find out no request was submitted from CW 09/12 CW submitted request , THOR approved 09/13 called CW for status.. They have to order parts from THOR 09/14 I called THOR to make sure parts were ordered and being shipped 09/19 parts were received, called CW for status, no call back 09/20 called CW left VM for GM and SM, no call back 09/21 called THOR and THOR called CW to see if they can assist speeding things up 09/22 no callback, called SM no returned call 09/25 called CW no callback, called THOR asking them to contact CW 09/26 called CW, received callback from from CW stating the RV is ready to be picked up 4 weeks to the day I made the appointment We picked up the unit and the foot in the fridge was rotten with maggots crawling all over the place, Partially our fault for assUming that no one would turn off the fridge & assUming it would not take 4 weeks to replace a radio and harness. I do believe that the techs working there are well skilled and do good work.To me it seem the problem is process related and with the front desk / management. read more

They did eventually refund us for the warranties that we were also misquoted on, but that was part of the contract that we had the right to cancel within a certain period. Of course, it could be because we didn't spend enough $$ on our camper. In the summer, we couldn't get in for warranty service b/c "others" were getting service for camping season. Now, not only has our list of things needing to be repaired on a brand new camper grown, we can't get in b/c "others" are having their rigs winterized. Never again! Sad, but true! A bait and switch tactic. After viewing on the website I went to Camping World of Kingston, NY and met with David Day. I have cash to make an RV purchase and declined any financing options (that might have been a factor). The sales associate was focused on one unit and seemed reluctant to show others. The price that I was quoted for the RV sounded too good to be true. It was! The sales price quickly increased by 22.6% of the total sale which included tax, tags, registration and dealer fees. I was told that I would receive a written quote but when I asked for it, the sales associate refused to give it to me. If I could have seen the breakdown of costs it would have helped, as this is my first RV purchase. For that reason alone (refusing to put the costs in writing before final sale), I have to say "steer clear of Camping World." read more

COVID can be blamed for much, but in addition to us keeping an appointment to buy a motorhome, driving over an hour to keep that appointment, to be told it was sold (when we got there, of course), then us, disappointed, deciding to just get a new awning placed by CWK, the charge for the awning hit our bank statement on July 2. It's 2 1/2 months later. No awning...not even coming in. Did anyone from Camping World call, write, anything? Nope. This company is completely untrustworthy....find someone else, anywhere else. Called today to ask a question about our norcold refrig. I wanted to know where thermister should be on the fins inside refrig in the back. I was told there are no fins in refrigerator Asked him to go out and look at one so he could help me. He wouldn't do it, he said the refrigerators don't have fins. Maybe I was using wrong terminology but he would not go look. Told me to call Good Sam Elite which I did. They were confused as to why I was told to call them. I then called Norcold Our refrigerator won't stay up to temp. Also have been waiting for sink cover since the end of May 2018 when we purchased camper. They cashed our check 2 days after we gave it to them before we even had been approved for financing. Mike Dagostino is a car salesman who just started there in January and knows nothing about campers. He will not return calls either once you sign papers. His side kick in finance Tony is also from the car business. They both talk a lot of crap to get the sale and if you do not get financed you never hear from them again!! This place is going down hill fast! Do not do business with them! And the general manager does not rectify any of these problems. Went today to pickup our 2018 Jayco 29me with 3500 miles on it. It's the only one like it in the country. The price was good almost too good. The deal was marked in big letters on our contract AS IS. The unit was dirty when we went up two weeks ago to look at it. They said $650 plus for a detailing of the unit. We live 90 miles away so it's not around the corner plus 30 dollars in tolls each way. Ok we get there and it rains for 5 minutes then stops. We go outside to inspect the coach with a sales rep and a service tech.( both very nice). I ask for a ladder to inspect the roof. The teck tells me not to walk on the roof. That seem strange as this will be our 4th rv vehicle since 1990. I got to the roof and it was filthy and look like the roof of a 5 year old rig. I questioned this and no answer (we had paid for a cleaning). Ok this wasn't a deal breaker as I would have asked for a refund on the cleaning. Now suspicious that this rv had never been checked by a tech I started to check the outside over. I get to the generator exhaust and water is rapidly dripping from behind the wall about 3 to 4 inches back onto the pipe. The teck is trying to tell me it's coming from the outside skin. Yea the water takes a 90degree inward turn and 1" up to get there. I go up on the roof over this area and the chalk has an issue between the cap and fiberglass. I'm amazed this got through their techs. I told the sales person that I will not take the unit. I had certified checks drawn so that cost me plus tolls gas etc I will not recoup. The sales manager tried to find me another one but there are none in the country with these exact specs. This unit was going to Utah to be converted to 4 wheel drive so that were certain specs needed. How does a used unit not get checkout or were they passing off a problem. (Very low price ,as is ) I would never buy a used unit from them , complete waste of time. And the unit is still listed for sale let the next buyer beware. read more

Camping World had our trailer ( a Montana 5th Wheel we bought from them) for almost a month. We have had a problem with the trailer since we purchased it. There was a leak that the service department denied. We'll it just cost us $10,000 to fix a leak that came from the furnace. A manufacturer defect. We picked up the trailer and find our refrigerator door damaged!!! The service manager said we did it!! The refrigerator was fine when they got it to winterize it in the fall last year. And it was winterized when they got it for this repair. The trailer did not move until we dropped it off. Now the service manager wants to split the cost with us... for something he denies doing. We sent an email to the Caming World CEO..... we got crickets. Time for an attorney. We bought our first trailer from Campers Barn in Kingston... this never happen on their watch.
