Rip off. We have used Camperworld for six years to do an annual maintenance for our Tiffan Motorhome. A 140 point check and full service if engines that's costs us over $800.00, but in fact is just a rip off. After trying a new diesel repair shop we realized our fuel filter was dated 2009 and our generator filter are both old, filthy and had not been changed by Camperworld. My husband watched as both filters were removed and plainly showed years of age and date wrote in filters from 2009. Avoid their service department and find a competent mechanic elsewhere. read more

As someone who's worked in service before -- I owned a jewerly store and worked in sales at a major airline-- I understand that sometimes a retail employee is simply having a bad day. But when a salesclerk wields their power over you in a disrespectful or humiliating way, it can make you feel like you don't actually deserve to be there. Beware of Don (and older guy) who will be wearing a black shirt sitting at the front of the show room. He has a bad bullish attitude and thinks he owns the place! My husband and I just drove 2 hours round trip to shop for a motorhome and were prepared to put down a nice deposit. We specifically called in advance and spoke to their receptionist if there store policy allows customers to walk and browse on their own -- we were advised "yes" -- when we arrived the same receptionist greeted us and remembered our conversation and stated "you are the couple that wants to walk on your own" -- she further stated, just approach the guys sitting at the podium and they will point you in the right direction. As instructed my husband approach "Don" and followed the receptionists directions. And here is how it went: Husband: Hi, my wife and I are here to look at a Motorhome and we would like to be un-escorted Don: I dont think so, you aint goin out there without me! (in a bullish angry voice) Husband: Well we called in advance and we were advised by the receptionist that it is okay Don: I dont give a damn what she said - she dont own this place Husband: Excuse me??? Don: You heard what I said u aint goin out there!!!! I will be going out there with you or you aint goin out there!! Wife: Is there a problem? (as I was approaching the situation) Don: There aint no problem here lady (in a very angry agitated voice) Husband: Excuse me do not speak to my wife like that Wife: OMG - I cant believe you are talking to us like this? Don: Well believe it -- yall can leave !!! Husband: Hey -- do not talk to my wife like that -- you need to apologize! Don: I aint apologizing -- yall can leave Wife: I want a Manager A few sales managers at the end came running out of their offices and stood between us and the crazy man Don to defuse the situation and to apologize but there was no way in hell we were going to purchase anything from this place!!! Being an RV customer for over 20 years and having had 3 prior to our purchase at Camping World in Katy, we consider ourselves lifetime RV owners. This experience has been worse than we could ever imagine, which began from day 1 and has continued. We purchased the Jayco from them after the first of the year and to date we have used it once and it has remained at the dealership for over 2 months waiting for warranty work, which the Service Mgr says is still not done. After calling and Emailing for weeks on end, with no response from Camping World, we are picking up our RV and can definitely say we will not ever return to this location. If you are in the market for an RV, you should definitely not make Camping World one of your stops. We have a trip planned for 2 months ago and could not make due to camping World's failure to fix the problems with a brand new RV. 2 weeks ago we met with the GM and Service Mgr because nothing had been done (even though we paid for the upgrades up front) and reminded them both again that we had a trip planned, which they assured us the work would be completed and ready to pick up last week. They called Monday the 17th and said it would not be ready until Thursday. They called Thursday and said it would be Friday. Now they just called and said it would not be ready today. We purchased a Camper in June 2015 and our salesperson was Ted. Ted was great on the sale of the camper but once the was deal was Ted is gone and doesn't respond to messages. I would not only walk but run far far away from this dealer. We have been waiting 2.5 months for problem parts that we discovered on the walk thru. The Oem parts manger is the only person who actually replies to emails. In fact, getting someone to talk to you after the purchase is impossible. They were pitiful from the sale (I had to constantly follow up for status), the financing (which I wrote a check for and didn't need, but Ryan clearly hates her job and customers), to customer service after the fact. This Camping World is phenominal in customer service and support. I was sold a Winegard Roadtrip T4 antenna at the Camping World in Stratford Missouri along with a tripod and receiver. I did not want a roof mount antenna but that's what I was sold. It wasn't till we got back to Texas before I realized the mistake & couldn't find the recipt amywhere. Took it to Camping World Houston in Katy Texas and was totally blessed by the manager Jacqueline and a customer support rep named Carolina. They took what could have been a bad situation, because of the exchange circumstances plus the computers were down, and worked it to nothing but good for me and then thanked me for my business and supporting their store!!! This is the second time I have had not so desirable "service" at the Katy location. Last year we had taken our class A in for some warranty work...BTW, BOTH things they "fixed" quit working again the second use after the shop. We were told we would be contacted in a few days for an update. It was a couple of weeks later and several voicemails left by me, before I received a call. It was another 2 weeks before it was repaired. I had only received 2 calls during this time. Those calls were from me calling and leaving a voicemail. The guy apologized, as he could tell by my messages I was not happy. Move forward a year. Had to go in there tonight. Now, it was 15 minutes until closing time, but we went in, asked for what we needed. The guy sitting at the service desk looked at the woman on the other end and just looked at her then looked back at my husband. That went on for a couple minutes. Then he said the other guy that had just walked away would know if we have that. The lady then pointed in the direction of what we needed. When we got to what we needed and old man from the front of the store hollered back and told us "Hey we are closing, yall need to leave." We went back to the front of the store and my husband asked the first guy if the other guy had come back and he said "yeah he did but I thought yall left." Then he hollered the guys name and he walked us to the back to what we needed. My husband told him, "I need a 100$ part for a 70k$ class A that I bought from yall!" He asked me what was wrong and I told him that the customer service is NOT what it used to be at Camping World. He then said it was both of those peoples first week here. Funny part is the guy is the SAME guy from a year ago! Guess maybe he was a rehire...anyway, we will nto be back to camping world unless it is in an emergency situation and CW is the only option. My business from now on will be at Ron Hoover where they greet their customers and actually get up and help their customers look for what they need. read more

I won't even go into the over year long saga of continual lies and deceit from the service staff at camping world. I caught them in so many boldface lies that any benefit of the doubt that they were just extremely incompetent went out the window. You know their service is terrible that everytime you go there to complain you have to wait in line behind all the other customers who have been continuously screwed over and lied to as well. I have never written a complaint before and usually just take my lumps and learn from my mistakes but in this case I would be negligent from not warning others to stay away from this Camping World in Katy. It is truly run like a criminal enterprise where all the employees conspire to lie, cover up and evade responsibility. There work is so substandard and pathetic that they are committing theft in getting paid for their work. I have written to Progressive Insurance and told them to please investigate the Camping World's repair service as they are committing fraud in the repair of Rv's. I have also called the Texas Attorney General's Office and filed a complaint and would ask all customers to file complaints with whoever you can to include your insurance carriers to either pressure Camping World to change or to inform enough potential future Customers (victims) that they take their business elsewhere. read more

Horrible service department. Took our 26 ft camper here to get the state inspection. The tail light cover was loose and wouldn't stay on so proceeded to go inside to purchase a new one and attach for inspection. After I purchased the cover, the service guys had already pulled my camper around and failed my inspection because there was no tail light cover. Four guys standing around discussing how awesome my truck is but too lazy to help me put the light cover on so I can pass inspection. A bunch of jerks. We are shopping around for a camper to upgrade and WILL NOT BE giving this place our business. read more

Shopped around for a Class C, Camperworld of Katy had a great special on a 2012 Thor 27'. While negotiating the deal, I felt a though I was at a shady used car lot. I noticed a very high dealer fee of $699.00, when I questioned that fee they became very evasive and called it a "dealer pack", and prep fee. They explained that the coach would be serviced(LOF of chassic and generator), and detailed and the fee covers a 3 hour walk-through. I took delivery of the unit and while getting ready for a trip I did a quick check on the fluids and none of the services had been done. The coach had dirty engine and generator fluids. I called the dealer and they said they would cover the services. Its been almost 2 months and I have yet been reimburshed for the services. I would not recommend shopping at this dealer, or having any service work performed. read more

We were impressed by the selection of pet items and kitchen items, but even more impressed by the wonderful customer service, especially by Taylor A.! She was very patient even while we were trying to figure out how to best use the coupon. When one of the items was marked at a different price than it scanned, she honored the price immediately. We are regular CW customers all over the country. Our home store in Madison WI is amazing. While on a six month trip, our steps in our rv broke. Stopped at CW on 12/22/17. They took the number off the steps and said it would be a couple of weeks before they came in. We agreed and went on our way. We called on 12/26 to check the status so we could head back to have steps replaced. They hadn't been ordered yet. Asked them to please order them and we would be back on 1/2/18. Were called on 1/2 and told steps were just ordered. Checked back on 1/16 and discovered the steps were delivered on 1/10 but not checked in yet. Appointment for 1/19. Drove to CW for installation and tech discovered the incorrect part was sent. New part installed 1/25/18 at a cost of more than $1100 for part and labor (including 143.90 in "extras"). Add to that, more than $500 in campground fees only to wait for repair. Run from this service. There are other places, even beside this one. We went to what we thought we could trust. As I wrote this, the store manager (not the service manager who could not have cared less) gave my husband a gift card to partially cover our discontent. I would shop the Katy CW, but never use their contacted service department. read more

This review is only for the repair service offered here in Katy at the Camping world. We have a class a motor home and have traveled quite a bit over the past year, through different states. Camping World is always an easy stop where we know we can get what we need with plenty of room to get in and get out etc. While traveling to Tx we had trouble with our entry steps. We decided to get them fixed in Katy before we went on to FLORDIA. That was a bad mistake. I can only say that the repair center at this particular Camping WOrld was the Worst. Even tho we pulled in in mid afternoon Friday, they told us no one could look at the problem much less order a part or even call for or look for a part until Monday, because it was Almost the weekend and people were gearing down! No chance to get anything headed our way until at least MOnday. We offered to pay for FedEx next day, Saturday shipping so it would be here to complete the work. But they didn't do it on Monday, or even Tuesday.......not even to get a part headed our way! They were not only slow, when we went out to the lot to get more meds (we had no idea they were going to take so long) we found that they didn't even keep our rig locked!!! It was in an open area with all our worldly winter goods and they left it completely Open!! We were miffed. On the following Friday afternoon they called to say it was ready. There work order showed a 2 hour job for which we had to stay in Houston for an entire week! They never called as they said they would; they never ordered the part when they said they would; they show no consideration or even responsibility for the coach left in their care; they were now right rude and inconsiderate of travelers. If you need toilet liquid or a replacement light, this camping world has it. If you need RV repair, there are other RV Repair shops in Katy and Houston. Don't use this one. read more

Where do I start.I bought a 2016 Heartland in October 2016 from Camping World Katy. We asked for MAXXAIR vent covers installed and the lady at the service desk said there were none to fit this model. I took it back to have safety recalled front lights replaced a few weeks later and again asked for the MAXXAIR vents to be installed. Same answer, none will fit. I contacted Heartland and they said any universal vent cover will fit. We were using the RV during Thanksgiving and found out the oven does not work. I took the RV to Camping World in Feb to have it repaired under warranty. Prior to going I made an appointment, I didn't just show up. Again I asked for the MAXXAIR vents and this time it was a different service person. No Problem he said. After weeks of waiting they said they had to order parts and those would be in on March 15. I went and picked up the RV on March 10 ( with new MAXXAIR covers installed) to use for spring break and took it back to them on April 8 to finish the repair. The parts were in I was told. Nearly one month later, on May 4th, the service department called and told me the RV would be ready tomorrow at noon for pick up. I took a vacation day the next day to make the three hour round trip and when I was within 2 miles of Camping World they called me and said the part they replaced did not fix the problem. I went and contacted Heartland from the parking lot. While there Heartland talked with the service rep to remove and replace parts from a new unit on the lot to get my oven working since it had been so long. I went to Bass Pro while waiting for them to call me. It was getting close to closing time so I went back to camping world and right before 5:00 the service rep came up and said the part they removed from a new unit and installed on mine did not fix the problem and they would have to contact suburban on Monday, May 8th to discuss this with them. As of today, May 22, I still do not have my RV back. They are replacing parts and then discover that didn't fix the problem so they will order different parts. There seems to be no type of trouble shooting to find the problem, just replace parts.I can't imagine how much money they have wasted by doing this much less my frustration. Two close friends have purchased new RV's this year and after seeing what we are going through they didn't even look at Camping World. My advise to anyone looking to purchase a new RV is to look somewhere else. I had no problems with the sales department but getting warranty work done is a VERY bad experience. Oh Yeah, Heartland said the dealer is supposed to do a checkout procedure on all new RVs which obviously that didn't happen. This was my second RV to purchase from them but it is definitely my last one.I can't imagine my experience being an isolated case when it comes to getting repairs done .I am so glad we are not full time RVers going through this. I wish anyone that deals with Camping World to have a better experience than we have had. I have owned this unit for 7 months and it has been in Camping World service department for over two of those months with combined visits. Update: I finally got my unit back today May 30. I should have known that this would be a disaster right off the bat, when I met the sales lady. She told me I have a pretty name. My name is Ashley. She made a few other "salesy" comments but I figured she was just being a salesman and we carried on. We already knew what trailer we wanted. After 2 evenings spent there, we negotiated a deal. The sales manager, Tonya, came to me with a monthly price that I wasn't comfortable with. She said she would go run my credit app and then we would know exactly what it would be. She came back with a new number that I agreed to. The next day I went back and signed an agreement and gave them my card information for the down payment. Tonya told me she ordered my trailer for the North Carolina store and my sales women said it would be in "next week" The next day, the finance woman called and said she had some questions on my credit app. I asked her the reasoning because we had already done that two days before. She said that was just an estimate. So I asked her if that was an estimate, then they don't actually know what my monthly payments would be and the price Tonya gave me could change. She replied, "yes". Not to mention, she was rude and annoyed at my questions as if I was bothering her. I text my saleswoman, called and left Tonya 2 messages before I could finally get ahold of her 2 hours later. She told me I was "just nervous" and there was nothing to worry about, rushed our phone call and then told me "you just need to relax and think about your next vacation". She treated me like a child. I told her that I needed a call back the same day with an answer about my credit app. She told me "no". She actually said no. She claimed she was too busy to call me back by the end of the day (6 hours later) She said she had already planned to call me Sunday morning anyway to tell me the details. I never got a phone call on Sunday. I called multiple times on Monday, I finally got an answer late Monday that my credit app had been approved. I then contacted my sales lady, and Tonya the sales manager multiple times over the next two days about when exactly the trailer would be in. They knew I needed it within two weeks. I got one text from the saleswoman saying Tonya was working on ordering the trailer (the one she apparently already ordered) "right now". I called up there to speak to Tonya and was told she wasn't at work that day. They never ordered the trailer, I was lied to multiple times. I left 3 messages that same day for the other sales manager that was in, asking for a call back. Never called back. I eventually called ExploreUSA later that day and got an approval right away, they had the trailer I wanted in stock. I got the same trailer, but longhorn edition with 2 a/c's for cheaper! ExploreUSA has cheaper gap insurance by a long shot. I drove to camping world that night to get a refund on my deposit, I was told by the finance woman that she actually "forgot" to run the card. How are these people in business!? It was a TERRIBLE experience. They do not care about you. Go anywhere else but here. I have never posted a review of any company before but I felt that this experience was horrible enough for people to need to understand that they should think twice about this place, they have no problem lying to your face. read more

I put a down payment and unfortunately got declined and still haven't gotten my money back! Because of them I have had to put a pause on my move to Washington over they're unprofessionalism. I called and called through the week, (multiple times daily) trying to get information. When I got a hold of someone they took my card information and said they would process it, I called today again and finally got an answer..they STILL haven't processed it and asked for my card number again!! Then they tell me they've been trying to get a hold of me and left me messages when I never received ANYTHING! We will never buy from camping world again. We waited 2 weeks for an apt to get some warranty work done....nothing major....just a small leak under the bathroom sink and to replace a broken shade. We were told that they would likely have our trailer for 2-3 weeks which we were not happy about....but 3 weeks later, we call to get an update (we had to call them) and were told that it would take another week for the shade to come in. We were considering upgrading our trailer to a larger one and the salespeople seem to only be interested in selling to wealthy people. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This place doesn't care about their customers.....unless you have six figures to spend on a coach. And they could care less about providing excellent or even mediocre customer service. If you own a business....you should at least be nice and respectful to your customers!! read more

They promised that the work we required (adding a tow bar and installing a braking system) could be done on Friday and now it is Tuesday afternoon and we still do not have our car or our motor home back! Camping World Katy We purchased our 2019 Jayco Greyhawk on May 31. 2019, did the walk through, they wrote down needed warranty items, had us sign and said they would call us when parts were in and would be within a month. We have called numerous times and no one will return the call including service director Jennifer and General mgr. We do not like writing negative reviews but we feel we are being completely ignored. We were told by the service advisor that the parts had not even been ordered. We are 4 months in on our bumper to bumper warranty. I heard Crestview NewBraunfels has great service. We should have purchased from them. I should note, that if this is the way they treat a brand new customer on a warranty item, how could you trust dropping it off with them, would they even meet a timeline, ignore your calls... just something to think about. read more

I purchased a new 2017 fifth wheel less then a year ago with the notion new would have no issues, boy was I wrong. My trailer has been in the service department 3 times for at least month each time and it's still not fixed. Every time I call my service advisor she does not know what's going on with the different departments within the business, has a difficult time getting a date of when the parts will be in and the same parts have been ordered numerous times but are shipped wrong or completely different then what was supposedly ordered. My RV spends more time with the service department preventing me from enjoying it. I would not purchase another RV from Camping World. read more

Today is June 3, 2014. Our 2003 Monaco coach is been in Camping world in Katy Texas since March 17, 2014 waiting on repairs. We have made dozens of phone calls get some kind of status. No one returns our calls. We drove up there twice now for meetings to resolve any issues. Each time we are reassured they would get it done. Is beyond ridiculous. We have an extended warranty through good Sam's. Good Sam has always been pretty good to us. I don't understand how they can endorse this company. After my second all day visit to have a loud refrigerator cooling fan replaced under warranty, I got home only to discover the new fan was installed backwards. The service manager refuses to take my calls or return them (3). I have fixed the fan (and a bathroom faucet) myself and will never step foot on the Camping World of Houston site again. If I could give a 0 Star, I would. 1 star is a compliment. After buying a DirecTv receiver from this Katy store and it being "not activatable" and calling multiple times(over 8 times), leaving messages on the manager's voicemail and leaving a message with the girl who originally answered the phone and saying she would send out an email to each employee so I would get the fastest reply back, and still not getting answers, I finally called the New Bransfels location and got through to their Manager on the first time. Jordan was more than helpful, he let us exchange it and even sent us a picture of the Serial numbers from his phone before we got there to ensure that we would not have a problem activating this one. I can personally say this location is terrible with customer service and should really strive to be more like the New Bransfels location. Worst experience ever we stepped in to get a used motor home as we wanted to advance from our pull behind. We got to the finance office late and had to wait till the next day for the banks to open so i waited and never got a call back from the finance guy. So at 4:30 pm i call and talk to the finance guy and was told no answer yet. The next day still no call from the salesman or the finance guy. I wish I would have read the reviews here before trying to shop here... I would have saved myself and my friend (always good to have a friend when making a big purchasing decision!) a lot of time, trouble, and travel to and from this store. When I first showed up, pretty much everyone was gone early. I had to go scouting through the offices to find someone. To be fair, that salesman I finally did find, Ted, was nice and overall helpful. I went back another day to do negotiations and purchase the RV that I wanted (a nice Class A Thor Challenger). The first sign I should have had that this wouldn't be good was the fact that the RV not only used some cheaper materials to save money (mostly a knock on Thor) but also had issues with the automatically leveling system (not a good sign that it would have major issues before even buying). The negotiations went well and I signed the purchase agreement and went to their finance department to start the paperwork. The lady I dealt with there (no names there because I don't want it to seem personal) was rude and seemed like she was merely having to put up with having to talk to a potential customer. This was echoed by my friend so 2 people independently thinking it. She then said she would call me the next day about the paperwork and made me feel rushed so she could go home. The next day despite the promise (it was a Saturday, and they were open) I didn't receive a call even though I left them a message about leaving income off my application. I called again on Monday and left a message, and NO response. I got a quick call Tuesday from a guy in the dept, and he also was curt, rude, and made me feel like a second rate person. If I'm looking to spend over $100k on something, they can at least treat me with respect. And then, though the deal was supposed to close on the Wednesday, I didn't hear anything back then. It was only today (Thursday) after I wrote an email to the sales guy that I heard back from the original lady who wanted to argue with me and say she did call me. When I told her I'd show her my call log, the messages I left them, and all, she said "well, whatever I know I called." Since I'm a professional and don't criticize without offering help and advice, I tried to let her know where I was upset. When she said "sorry you felt like that, but..." and then got defensive with excuses, I knew neither she nor the company would learn. Sorry, but for wanting to spend that much, everyone should know the basics of dealing with customers and treating them with respect. If their service trailed off THAT quickly after signing some papers, it's not a good sign at all for what I could expect from service or anything else I'd need. So, I'm getting my deposit refunded and will NOT shop there and recommend against anyone else going there either. There are plenty of places around Houston, so save yourself the trouble! read more

Purchased a used class A and was pleasantly surprised at everyone involved in the process. Highly recommend doing business with them.

Do not take your camper here to get fixed. The service dept has had are camper for over 2 months and haven't fixed one thing. They originally told us 10 days. We are now out the expense of a trip planned because NO ONE communicates with you. I have left several voicemails, endless messages and emails for Jennifer ( service manager) and and the other staff. Jennifer has avoided me at all cost. The last 3 weeks have been nothing but hell and pulling teeth to get any kind of answer. NOT ONE person can tell me what has been done and what hasn't. The run around is INSANE. I'm not sure what the service department does all day, but I can assure you they definitely don't service campers. I'm not sure how any of them have jobs. I would love to come in to work and sit on my ass all day and get paid doing it. I highly encourage you to avoid this place if you are needing routine work done or having any issues with your RV. You will become infuriated just like my husband and I. I am highly disappointed in the lack of customer service. They sure go above measures to sell you a camper but once you drive off, good luck with anything after that. Save yourself the time, headache dealing with these people. Really sad people don't have the proper work etiquette. If you can't do your job right, maybe do something else, just a suggestion? So I advise you to please think twice when coming here. Update: got the camper back after six months. It sat out in the sun, so the decals are all faded, and the leather on the couch and captain chairs were ruined from the sun - literally peeling and tearing each time we sat on them. Had to pay a third party to reupholster all the leather - no way I would trust Camping World. I asked about ordering replacement decals - I'd pay. They wouldn't even look up the part numbers for me. My camper now is irretrievably aged. I'll take it to a paint shop to have the decal swooshes replaced. Never ever again will I take my camper to Camper World for service, and I recommend that you avoid their "service" department. read more
