    Over-cooked shrimp.
    Rosalie G.

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars, I would. The evening started out poorly when we were seated across from the kitchen entrance. It smelled like antiseptic at that location. The waiter was abrupt and unhelpful in explaining the menu. The gazpacho came with ice cubes in it, which watered it down. It was served with a plate of croutons out of a box. The fried shrimp were cooked in butter and were over-cooked and flavorless despite supposedly being cooked with garlic, ginger, and pink pepper. They were not served with any sides. The grilled sea bass was not fileted and was full of bones. It was served with overcooked vegetables. The overall atmosphere, service, and food were awful. The waiter never checked to see if we were pleased with our meals. Worst meal we had in all of our travels in Portugal.

    View just outside the restaurant!

Cool nice lil'restaurant basically on the beach next to a walking trail! For me, this place was all about the fun friendly service. Note: I ordered the sea bass with veggies and...it was delicious. My wife had the burger and fries. If you like expresso martinis--the ones here are off the charts!

Excellent food! The grilled Swordfish was scrumptious. Nicely done not overlooked vegetables and potatoes a rarity in Portugal. Salad was huge and very good. Location is incredible. Don't be fooled by the ice cream take way front part of restaurant. The restaurant is in the back and has indoor and outdoor seating. Desserts look wonderful. Not gluten free so I couldn't eat any. Lots of variety of breads that my husband enjoyed. Good wine and you can take rest of unfinished bottle with you back to hotel. Also if you hike the trails from pointe do pienada you will run right into this place! Also walking close to Belmar spa &a resort where we stayed! Excellent views and walks after lunch or dinner as well. Overall best spot on this beach out of the 2 restaurants.

Really good Portuguese food. Great views of the beach and ocean. Went with a party of 8 people and everyone loved their meal.

We got there right at 6 and they gave us one of only 2 remaining tables, telling us we had to be done by 7:30pm. We started with prosciutto & melon which was AMAZING!!!!! And reminded us of Italy. My children got the house style spaghetti which was a cream sauce with tomatoes and ham. Neither kid could get enough! The pasta was soooo tasty. My husband and I shared the Mixed Catalana for 2 - prawns and clams. It was the best meal we had during our almost 2 week trip to Portugal. The broth was so delicious I could've drank it with my spoon. It was loaded with veggies too. Came with white rice on the side and some fried potatoes. Also my husband got a glass of house red wine which was a very generous pour! They only take cash, which we did not know ahead of time. But luckily there's an ATM across the street. They turned tons of people away while we were eating. I guess their system is reservation only from 5:30-7:30pm and then after 7:30pm they allow walks in on a first come, first serve basis.

As long as you're in or within the city centre of Lagos, it's hard to find restaurants that don't seem to exclusively cater to tourists with inflated tourist prices. Asinhas is located just outside downtown and on a main road towards Dona Ana Beach. Although the place was always packed with locals, they had an English menu. The prices were some of the best I encountered in Lagos. I can't remember the exact names of the dishes, but here goes. I had the traditional ALENTAEJANA (Portuguese bread soup) with cilantro and olive oil. It was healthy serving that was almost a meal unto itself. I liked that the broth wasn't too salty. I also ordered their BRAZILIAN STEAK AND PINEAPPLE SHISH-KABOB, that was grilled a nice char, and hung vertically on a metal frame and skewer. This was amazingly done, with the steak grilled medium rare and its fat dripping down over the other pieces of steak and pineapple. My DC ordered the FILET OF SOLE, which was tenderly baked and served with a creamy sauce/gravy. This was also really tasty, and a nice change from usual bacalhau (cod) dishes. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're ever in town.

It is located right around the main entrance to the town center and is worth trying. The steak on stone looks delicious, will try on return to Lagos.

We started with the family lemonade which was so refreshing and had lots of fresh citrus in it. We felt like we were at a family dinner here with how welcoming it was. We got the Sevilla style squid which was ok, the piri piri helped add flavor. The prawns were plump and flavorful in a nice sauce that we used our garlic bread to sop up the flavors. The sea bream was such a nice and light flavor. Crisp on the outside but soft and meaty inside with fries nicely seasoned and cooked. Cost: Definitely a little on the pricier side in comparison to the places around the area and even in the region but still worth it for the quality of the food that you're getting! Environment: Very big restaurant, at least from the outside! Didn't make any reservation and it seemed that a lot of the tables had the reservation sign on it and upon arriving, our waiter did have the face of 'hm....where can I seat them' look haha Service: Arrived when it didn't seem too busy (even though the tables all had reservation signs) and so service was fairly normal.
