Probably my 6th or 7th time visiting Camino and first time during COVID. Camino has done a good job with COVID protocols providing social distancing for customers. We went on a Monday for their $5 dollar burger deal which is a cheeseburger ala carte with melted cheese and delicious fried onions. Burger is cooked to order so they are fresh. Among the more solid burgers in the city, especially for 5 dollars on Monday. Bun was buttered with a grilled finish, and the melted cheese oozed off the burger. I also got a size of cheese curds which are among the best in the city. Cheese is from Clock Shadow Creamery with a Russian dressing to dip it with. Service provided was attentive and very solid. Drink prices were on the higher side for Walkers Point, but still very reasonable given the low drink prices in general in Milwaukee. I recommend going there on Fridays for their lobster roll as its among the better in the city. read more

By far the most inventive bar food options in the city. The vegetarian selection is banging and unlike any others I have seen on a menu. Here are some vegetarian dishes on the menu that caught my eye: Smashwich (think vegetarian Italian beef, minus the beef), Beet Ruben, Grilled Cheese. I went with the Brussels Sprouts Grinder. It was a mess of delicious Brussel sprouts with apples, walnuts and cheese served on a soft and chewy French roll. Something to note, if you are feeling a side you need to order that separately (they don't come as a duo on this menu). The cheese curds are also worth a try. Great bread to cheese ratio with a solid cheese pull. The only downside to each of the food items I had was the grease. I know, I know to be expected in the bar food arena, but it just was a bit much this go-around and I had to blot my sammie to get through it. On Wednesdays they have a special build your own mac option which looked like it could be a crazy good time. If you are looking for something to wash everything down with, they have solid craft beer options. I recommend the Freedom of Speech (a sour). Quick note - hats off for the 414 Milwaukee Day specials! Sausages were $4.14 on 4/14/2021!! In terms of service, it could have been better. We had to flag down our waitress for refills and condiments. The place did seem to be on the busy side though. The table seating is sectioned off but the bar seats did not appear to be spaced out at all. We also sat ourselves - not sure if that is the norm but we didn't notice a "hostess stand" of sorts by the entrance. The place is also kind of small with some outdoor seating. Laid-back cool vibe with some cheeky, original artwork around the place. Plus, BONUS there is a new MKE themed mural about a one block walk from the restaurant. Chose Camino based on the 4+ star reviews however I just did not find it that high. Burgers are grilled at the bar, but they seemed to be over handled - even though it was medium, it was hard and dry. Bun was good and fries were VERY crisp. Pretty disappointed not going to lie. I've heard so many good things about this place so I was really excited to go here. Overall I had a below average experience. The first thing that caught me off guard coming to Camino was the lack of effort to social distancing. Masks are required when inside, but other than that it seemed like they were doing the bare minimum for Covid-19. Luckily I came during the week day so there weren't too many people and they did have outdoor seating which was nice. The food was Ok and pricey. I got a burger and crispy brussels for a side. The burger was actually pretty decent but the crispy brussels were very disappointing. I'm pretty sure they completely burnt my crispy brussels because it tasted like I was just eating bunt bits. I could not taste any flavor of the brussels! It was so bad I could only take 2 bites of it before I had to quit. The only thing I actually enjoyed was the decent amount of choices for drinks, but in the end it didn't make up for the crispy brussels. I personally with good conscience can not recommend Camino as of right now. They might be slacking on their food preparation because of Covid-19 so I'll give them some leniency. I however will not be coming back here anytime soon at least until Covid-19 is cleared up. read more

I came here for the $5 Burger special on Monday afternoon. It was pretty busy since most people were off for Martin Luther King Day. I have been here before and absolutely love their cheese curds which are from Clock Shadow Creamery. Sadly, they were out of them when I went in. I'll have to get them next time! I ordered a burger with fries for an extra $3. My burger was good and juicy and my fries were ok. I got most of the fries that were small and too crispy, with a few really good ones. Be careful of the upcharges on the burger for any type of side. I was asked by a waitress if pickles, lettuce, and tomato were ok on my burger, I said sure. I wasn't expecting $1.50 worth of upcharges for the toppings that were presented to me. I just figured they came on the burger or would be included. In the end, they did take off the charges, but made it seem as if it were a favor to me, since I agreed to put them on my burger. I would just think it would make more sense to mention the upcharges for the toppings that are mentioned or recommended. First time trying it, the service was very nice and the cheese curds were great, thick and squeaky cheese. The Brussels sprout grinder was delicious while the burger was just okay, the bun was twice as thick as the patty and dense, but the burger itself was good. Camino is doing it the right way! An unassuming exterior flanked by a yellow Camino sign is their low key salute to goldenness. The narrow kitchen is situated at the front bar, allowing patrons to take a peek at what's cooking. Besides the bar, there are high tops lining the walls and a mix of canvas artwork and neon signs on the brick interior. The beer selection is abundant, and their website nicely breaks down all the options. We ordered the chorizo and beef meatballs which were nicely spicy, complimented by thick gravy, but needed something colorful in plating. The Phat Tony Italian beef sandwich was tender and phatty with fresh and crunchy giardiniera. We ordered house made french fries on the side, and those were bomb. I give kudos that so much of the menu components in made in house! Our server was friendly and gave great recommendations. I will definitely be back to try more oro-esque dishes! read more

It had been a while since my last visit to Camino. Not because of a bad experience or anything but just so many places to check out. I was reminded what a great beer list Camino has. Lots of great options on tap ranging from local to not so local choices and a variety- I had a sour and ended my night with a strong ale. I decided to go with their sweet wings which I must say we're pretty delicious. I loved that I got a side option with the wings. I think that must be unique to Camino because I've never had a side done with wings before that wasn't the standard celery and carrots. I went with their crispy Brussels which were amazing. Late night craving for chicken wings got me here! I was really intrigued by the flavors and I also liked the pictures which shows the grilled wings on Yelp. They have a nice menu but my focus was on the wings. I ended up getting the chimichurri, the onion BBQ and Korean BBQ. They all come with sides - I got the Brussel sprouts and Fries. I liked that they had the option of Brussel sprouts .. mostly you only have the choice of fries or salad. The fries were Parmesan fries and they were yum as well! The wings were crisp and good however I didn't quite enjoy the sauces as much (chimmichurri and BBQ). They were too mild for me to truly get the flavor. Also it looked like the sauce was just on the bottom of the box and the wings were just put on top of it so it wasn't like wings were properly coated with the sauce .. I think that would have made a great deal of difference! I did like the wings just by itself though .. Located in the ever intriguing Walker's Point, you'll find an unassuming circular wooden sign that will lead you into the local gem that is Camino. It's a small joint, flanked by a long bar on one side and small, circular tables on the other. The kitchen is in full view behind the bar, so you can literally watch them make your meal as you enjoy one of the many craft brews they have on tap. They have 20ish beers on tap and several others that are available bottled or canned. They also generally have a few ciders to choose from and if beer and cider aren't your thing? They have cocktails and wine as well. The food? Indulgent pub grub deliciousness. Their cheese curds are the best I've had thus far. Made with Clock Shadow Creamery cheddar and served with a side of tangy Russian dressing (Fellow ranch dressing lovers: I know, I know...but, trust me on this. You won't be disappointed. I promise.), they the very substance midnight cravings are made of. Other things of note: Their crispy Brussels sprouts. The fact that they have Brussels sprouts as a side dish option with their sandwiches? Amazing. Plus, they happen to be pure crispy deliciousness to boot. The BBT. Sweet stout bacon, basil, tomato, and mayo all conspire to make this one heckuva sandwich. Mostly, it's the bacon that puts things over the top (I mean...that's always true, but in this case--especially so). They have nightly specials. On Thursdays, it's their Social Mac 'n Cheese. Their interpretation of the dish hinges on a goat cheese cream sauce that will rock your chevre loving socks. Add to that the rosemary pulled chicken thigh and you may actually hear celestial choirs sing as you dine. Truly. Heavenly. Beyond that, the service is generally impeccable and utterly friendly. I accidentally came across this place while waiting for a friend. They have a fantastic menu with lots of vegetarian options and a very nice beer selection. I'm not sure how often they switch out the beers but they have all the styles covered. It's a fun place with seating inside, out front and,out back. Definitely coming back! read more

Camino is the perfect neighborhood bar atmosphere with delicious bar food. I went on a Monday night when they have their service industry $5 burger deal, and it did not disappoint. The burger reminded my friend of a better version of a butterburger, and I would say that description was pretty spot on. I added a side of fries for an additional 3 dollars. The fries were seasoned perfectly. Their ranch appeared homemade which is one of my favorite qualities in a restaurant. This is a disappointing review to write.... I've heard of the great curds, and though they are decent, they run at about $1 each ($9 for the small order). Everything seemed like it was forgotten in the fryer, and severely overcooked. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich had a great seasoning to it, but the chicken was the toughest cut I've every had in my life. The bartender was so nice and helpful, he let me try a sip of a shorts soft parade as well as a "smoked" brew before I decided (clearly, I went with shorts because I remembered it). They have a pretty extensive beer menu. American cuisine with apps like pierogies, wings, an everything pretzel with beer mustard and their spicy house peanuts. I got the Thai chicken sausage with basil aioli, sweet chili and cilantro. Loved the combo and the fries were crisp and well seasoned. They also use Purple Door for ice cream at dessert (I'm obsessed). I will definitely be back here again to give the video games in the back a try. Our party came hungry and ready to eat and Camino was well prepared for us. My cubano was outstanding and my friends raved about the burger saying it was simple yet exceedingly done well. The inside has a sports bar feel, but the small patio is nice and quaint. The beer list here is impressive. Lots of options on tap available in take home sizes as well. Several veggie sandwich options that aren't things like grilled cheese or caprese sandwiches. We started out with the cheese and potato pierogis served lightly fried with mustard. Big egg noodles, tasty mushrooms, all of that! I really enjoy the menu here. It appears to change somewhat seasonally particularly in regard to the salad selection. My roasted beet salad today was delish, although perhaps a little too much dressing for my taste. It's cool that the "kitchen" is immediately behind the bar for your curiosity and entertainment. I found myself taking additional time to watch the chef. This dude can multitask! The bartender and the chef had great customer service. I love this place!! I had the yellowfin sammy and it was incredible. It had fresh basil and a horseradish cream on it which really gave it amazing flavor. My wife likes beets and had the beet Reuben and was really happy with it. The most amazing part of the meal was the crispy Brussels. Wow. And also close to the Iron Horse Hotel, where we stayed. Maybe 4-5 blocks away from both? FOOD: Comfort food; rich/heavy - and hit the spot!!!! Once I began eating, I was transported into a happiness food bubble, where only me and my delicious noms existed. Everything else - a blur. 1. Cheese Curds: Unique and awesome. Gentle garlic-flavored batter with a sweet, Russian dressing instead of ranch. An interesting way to 'curd' - but definitely a slam dunk in my book. 2. Smoky Annie: Soft and flavorful pulled pork sandwich, with bbq sauce, cheddar, sauteed onions and peppers, on brioche. That was some bangin' stuff right there. 3. Crispy brussels: Do yourself a favor and GET THIS as your side. You're welcome. Buttery, crispy - I'd eat this as my whole meal if I could. 4. Wings: My husband loved them. I asked what the burger of the month was that they offered and our waiter had 0 clue. The water didn't even have iced. We sat outside and they brung us to a dark table in the corner which wasn't a great spot but at least it was quiet. We ordered two burgers, the cat fish Poe boy and Brussels. Both burgers were pink on the inside which was not requested. All of the buns were burnt. They drenched the catfish in this awful mustered. The burgers had a hint of fish. My Brussels were the worst Brussels I have ever seen in my life. While quite a bit of bars/restaurants seem to be overdoing it with tacky décor and other gimmicks, Camino is as straightforward as it gets, and not without character. A great choice in the Walker's Point area. The waitstaff is very friendly. Their menu has all kinds of traditional favorites: cheese curds, burgers, salads, plus several V options. The basket of fries is definitely to be shared (huge portion), and the mushroom ragout (V) is also a good starter to combine with another one for a meal if you are not going for a burger--and yes, there is a V option there, as well as for one of their sandwiches. Most items range between $7-$12. Their beer selection is ample, with several local brews on tap, as well as many by the bottle. We did not try the root beer float this time, but the fact that the ice cream is from Purple Door is alluring. On 2nd Street and very close to the corner of Virginia. Right on the 19 and 23 bus lines, and a hop away from the 15 or Green lines on 1st Street. Also: there's a Ms. PacMan and a couple more game machines at the end of the bar. read more

This is a frequent lunch stop for my crew during the work week. The Tuesday special is a MASSIVE hot dog/sausage for $10. The Thursday special is our favorite though. Anyone remember the Social? Camino is located where the Social used to be, and the owner managed to snag the famous mac and cheese recipe from the Social's chef/owner. It's a goat cheese based Mac and cheese. The place definitely has kind of a hipster dive feel to it. Almost kind of an industrial vibe. Regardless, our server came over and took our drink and food order right away.
