Dunno how "pricing" can lead to so many negative reviews. If you can't afford Cameron optical's pricing then head to Walmart. If you don't understand your own vision insurance deets, then there are books that can dumb it down for you. Three of the 6 in our home wear either contacts or lenses and I've never felt obligated to spend more than I need to; except when pressured by one of my kiddos. Appointments are timely and there are tons of choices when it comes to frames, lenses, etc. Been coming here for 10ish years and looking towards the next ten and hoping the dr. I never write negative reviews. I like to forget about any bad experiences. Unfortunately everyday I put on my glasses I am reminded of being lied to by Cameron. I noticed a review by an ex employee, who quit because of the deceptive practices going on at Cameron. It triggered me to write this,hoping it will allow others to make an informed buying decision based on the facts. We were told by Cameron employee that our insurance only covered $100 towards lenses. This was NOT true. I verified with our insurance after our purchase that we were not able to use any of our benefits towards the lenses, because Cameron does not use our eye med insurance lab for lenses. Why mislead us and tell us OUR insurance only pays $100 towards lenses when this is not true? Initially I wanted to believe it was just a training issue,but I found out that was not the case. Had I gone somewhere else, I could have gotten the same exact designer frames with lenses for 465.00 versus 1500. Plus I found out my insurance paid 40% off second pair of glasses. But the reality is we would have been fine paying the 5k we were charged for our 2 pairs of glasses and 2 pairs of sunglasses. (We were actually repeat customers) My husband and I felt so deceived that we paid a 1k fee to Cameron to cancel our 2nd pair of glasses. We do not mind paying for quality,but we do mind being lied to. I can not understand why a business that prides itself on superior customer service and quality of eyeglasses,would feel the need to lie to their customers about accepting eye insurance for the lenses. WHY? There is nothing wrong with charging more for quality customer service and quality lenses. Just admit that since you use your own lab, lenses are not covered by vision insurance. No need to mislead anyone and risk losing customers. Also remember that true superior customer service extends to after the sale. I am shocked by the responses by Cameron to any negative reviews by customers. I was also shocked by the treatment we received after our purchase and we questioned the insurance. Cameron Optical charges almost twice as much as any other company and then they do not fully credit you for what your insurance will cover. And then tell you that YOU can deal with the insurance company and try to collect. I did confirm with Cameron Optical that they accepted our insurance before the exam - they never said they don't fully credit you for what your policy covers. I don't know why they do this but in reading the reviews it is common place at Cameron Optical. The business is set up to fool you into wasting money, which we totally did. It made no sense - they only use part of the insurance and not all of it. We met with them and got no where. My husband ultimately paid almost $2800 for 2 pair of glasses (after insurance credit), and on one of them he brought his own frame in! He does have a complex eye prescription (trifocals), but when I called around Cameron Optical does charge nearly twice as much for every single service except maybe the frame and exam. They say it is because they are superior in quality. But we found problems on both pair of glasses that had to be redone. They did not charge to redo them, but they were done incorrectly. So what is so superior? Further, the very next morning before they opened we called/texted and told them to cancel our order and they refused saying my husband signed something that said no refunds. I don't know if he did or not. Had we read the other reviews we would have never gone there. Since then we have found others went there and had problems, but we just didn't know. And yes, every time you have a question a group of them at the desk deal with you all at once like they are a panel. It is the most ridiculous business ever. They have a great lease space with a very visible sign over by Akashi, Monty's, and Fajita Jacks. I guess that is why I thought Cameron Optical would be another nice business in the center. But only if you don't mind wasting lots of money. We moved here to Montgomery in 2016 and we love supporting local businesses. We would have business customers for many years if they were not trying to overcharge us and to purposefully underutilize the insurance we pay for. Dr. Cameron is an excellent eye doctor. She spent time explaining every step of the eye exam process. I felt comfortable and not rushed. I was impressed with the equipment that is state of the art. Dr. Cameron even treated me for an eyelid allergy that I developed the night before my appointment. Her assistant Vero is also very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting frames. The office is beautiful and has lots of frame selections. Cameron's Vision was a great find for me and my husband. read more

I was promised frames that would have rx-free lenses for my 5 year old so that we could go somewhere else for lenses after being quoted $500 AFTER INSURANCE for the lenses alone. No other options given. And of course, the frames arrived without the rx-free lenses. Making it very difficult to get lenses traced anywhere else. The owner was rude and dismissive when I asked why lenses would be $650 before insurance and with no warranty for a 5 year old. Appointment was good, confusion on the time between what I was told and what was booked but they were able to accommodate which was appreciated. Not a huge deal but was sold on the premise of if I purchase a year supply there was $350 in rebates which would of been cheaper then buying through an online vendor. So they sold me on it and that is what I did. Submitted the rebates and found out that only 1 rebate for up to $250 was offered each year through the Acuvue companies rewards program. I still will be paying slightly less then I would of online but disappointing when you receive misinformation that direct influenced your purchasing decision. Will definitely return to this optometrist but just one of those things were the staff needs to fully understand rebates they are selling to close a sale. read more

Dr cameron is a really thorough optometrist, however the prices for glasses at this location are double and quadruple other places like the Walmart eye center and America's Best in Conroe. Plus when I called the next day for questions concerning my prescription, Michaelah was very rude and refused to help me with my question. I don't have an unusual prescription, and I have Eye Med insurance, so $1,200.00 for the glasses after insurance was absurd. Won't be gracing this place with my business again. read more

Scam! They will take your insurance for the exam, but then give you an outrageous price for glasses. It's because they use their own lab and don't want to accept what the insurance company will pay. If you question it they will tell you their computer is down and to just pay and they will adjust it later. I rarely leave reviews, much less poor reviews, but I felt that my experience at Cameron Optical warrants one. The entire staff was pleasant to work with and the doctor was very thorough and nice. However, the pricing for materials is what leads me here. After reading some of the other reviews and the passive aggressive responses from Cameron Optical, it is apparent that I am not alone in feeling that their billing is unethical. I have great insurance and prior optical experience, so I know what my benefits are and how they should be applied. 1. They only applied my frame allowance and did not apply the 30% discount on the remainder of the frame price, a benefit offered by my insurance. When questioned, I was told that they did not honor that, as it was only for "discount retailers" (not true, I've worked with some of the most prestigious optometrists in Houston who are definitely not "discount retailers", who definitely honor the 30% insurance discount. Not to mention, the frame was outrageously marked up beyond a reasonable retail price. 2. They quoted me for the most expensive lenses without mentioning any of my other options. Polycarbonate is covered 100% by my insurance, which is what I had in my current glasses, so why were the most expensive lenses presented as my only option, at an out of pocket expense of $700+? When questioned about this, the optician told me that if I went with a standard poly, it would only be $35 cheaper. By the way, the lenses that they quoted me for are Neurolens - which is essentially a gimmick, and any good optician will tell you that. At that point, I asked for my prescription and went elsewhere. I received a comparable luxury frame and my preferred lenses (anti-scratch, anti-reflective coatings included) for $148 at a different private practice, as compared to $700-1100 quoted by Cameron Optical. The discrepancy is significant and suspicious, especially since my lenses were very clearly covered in full by insurance as outlined in my insurance benefits summary they had printed out. Word to the wise, know your insurance and question their prices and how they arrived at the total. Question the materials used. Make sure they are maximizing YOUR benefits and offering you options. I understand the nature of sales but their business practices are deceitful and unethical. There are so many other optometrists that would humbly and honestly welcome your business. read more

Friendly staff and the doctor's husband, the manager is very friendly with the children. I don't have a complaint about the doctor or her husband as I experienced her care before and was pleased with it. I have a problem with the way in which they do not want to deal with my insurance company. They dumped (yes that's what they did), dumped the responsibility of dealing with my insurance carrier onto me and demanded to be paid up front. If this is the case, then why have all of those employees sitting around smiling at everyone? Isn't this a part of the job of running a medical provider or is this a cash/credit card pay out of pocket operation? I cancelled any future appointments. This was my first time with Dr. Cameron and her and everyone there were very polite. I went in for an eye check up (my vision had only slightly changed so we updated that) and I purchased a really nice pair of new glasses.. Here's the issue: I had a family member pick up my glasses when they were ready a week or so later as I was back at school. When I returned to Montgomery and picked up my glasses from my family member, my prescription was off.. by a long shot. The glasses were off so bad it was like I was using my grandfather's glasses.. The prescription of these glasses didn't match anything near to what I had tested with Dr. Cameron during my eye exam.. My prescription had only slightly changed from the last time I got an exam so this clearly was a mess up. So I thought.. okay, no worries. But when I call in to Dr. Cameron's office, they tell me it's been an extended period of time and they cannot refund my glasses and my vision could have changed by now so I would also need a new eye exam with them to get started on a new pair of glasses. I personally will not be going back to Dr. Cameron because of this and I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I knew the amount would be high due to not yet meeting my deductible. The brunette receptionist was very impolite and made me feel as if I could not pay the amount for the doctor to see me. I asked if it would also include an exam which she said no, I would have to pay more and left it at that. She walked away before I could ask any more questions and proceeded to disregard me and help another couple. I decided her cattiness along with the others were not worth my business or time. Dr Cameron and her staff are awesome! She knows what she is doing and she dresses like a model! Live the high end shoes and trendy clothes. Dr c as maron checked my eyes and recommended a procedure to clean out the ducts in my eyelids. They put me in a massage chair to relax then inserted cups under my eyelids to heat and clean my ducts. Now its 2 da yo later and I can read texts on my phone without glasses! She did not try to sell me glasses. She told me to come back in 6 weeks! She is smart, friendly and professional!! I had a pair of glasses the frame was still good and they were able to make new lenses for it!!!! Went in for an eye exam, went to pick out glasses and was told my total was $550+! I have really great insurance also... spoiler alert... they also were charging my insurance incorrectly. Anyway, I paid and then came back about 30 min . Later because of the outrageous price, got a refund and the manager told me I needed bifocals and medical grade lenses... which is laughable. He then was very rude and I asked him to print my prescription which he proceeded to have the lady CHANGE before giving to me. He said the lenses I needed were not covered by my insurance and they were "only sold by them" ya... red flag . Went to get a second option... I HAVE 20/20 VISION!!!! Dr. Cameron is very knowledgeable about all things eyes and how to explain it to a patient. My old eyes had developed issues over time from a past head injury. Dr. Cameron helped diagnose the problem and correct my prescription to give me normal vision. My wife complained of frequent eye irritation and Dr Cameron recognized it as a dry-eyes issue easily resolved with night-time eye drops. They also have some of the latest test equipment for diagnosing macular degeneration. read more

Had an eye exam at 1:30pm on a Tuesday didn't get out until 2:30. The young lady Amber was adamant about selling me reading glasses when I was really wanting a style called Silhouette to which she quickly dogged saying they break all the time and not worth it. I was disappointed. I had also asked for my prescription from the doctor and she verbally gave it to me. I thought she has to be kidding? I asked if I could have it writing and she said I could but never gave it to me. As I sat there listening to Amber push another style at me I realised the time was going past, I started thinking about how seconds after I arrived and gave my name they wanted to show me glasses. I remember thinking, you don't even know if I will be needing glasses. Amber had me sign a form saying it was for the order of my glasses leaving out the important knowledge that it was a disclosure for no refund once I signed. As I said I was at their mercy because my reading glasses were over 7 years old and not working well for me. So reading the material was useless. I trusted Amber to be forthright and moral and tell me if there was a clause to the document before I signed. after I signed for a new pair and they wanted the full amount up front. I said to Amber, " usually you pay half now when you order and the other half when you pick up glasses". She said, " yes, but its the end of the month and we need to get everything in". As a former sales person myself I new that meant she had to hit a quota. I paid with my debit card, and left. Not happy with any of this it stayed with me throughout the night. I was very uncomfortable about the whole situation feeling pushed into buying something I felt not right for me. Next morning I called at 10:45 am and said I wasn't happy with my glasses and after thinking clearly through it I'd like to cancel my order for a full refund and have my prescription so I could have a look about elsewhere. Amber told me I wasn't allowed a refund and that she would discuss it with her boss. She called me back and again said no refund was allowed. And oh by the way my glasses were ready. I said what? How is that possible you said they wouldn't be ready for 7-10 days. That I wouldn't get charged until they were in. So they worked on my glasses overnight did they? What bullshit! I called my insurance company who felt this was not right and they called them. I contacted my bank as well to stop payment and dispute this and as I was talking to my bank the bank watching my account saw they forced the payment through. Whilst on the phone with my bank they told me The eye doctors just forced their pending payment through. I asked how is it possible I have no product. The bank is disputing this. But I just want you to know this company Cameron Optical also goes under "foreyez Optical". This is a business that doesn't inform you that you're signing a form that is non refundable and I couldn't read it if I tried with my glasses since they were over 7 years old anyway. I booked a contact lens appointment with this optical office and was pleased with the service from the front desk with booking my appointment very quick and with ease. But went and had my appointment and was completely dissatisfied with the exam and with Dr. Bonnie Cameron. She actually checked me out and gave me over a 200.00 bill to pay. I explained to her that it was my once a year eye exam thru my insurance and that I had a allowance to order contacts. She explained to me my insurance was wrong and that I owed over 60.00 dollars for the lens exam and another 10.00 dollars for my copay. Not only did I not order my contacts but was over charged for my visit and insurance company had to re-inverse what she over charged me. The insurance company explained to me that they would have to contact her and again explain the benefits to her office. She not only over charged me, but was completely rude when I did not order anything with her and I had to remind her to print out my prescription that I just paid 70.00 for.
