Horrible bedside manner: insulting, talks over me at all appointments, dismissive of my concerns pre and post op, very paternalistic in his approach and repeatedly at separate post op appointments tried to justify his results by saying "you should be happy with your results because before You looked like Mr. Peanut!" At my last appointment I finally had to tell him to stop describing me like "MR. PEANUT" because it is insensitive. He just shrugged his shoulders and looked at me with an expression like "well you looked like Mr. Peanut!" I had a brow asymmetry and needed my right eyebrow lifted and the edges of both brows pulled up "fox brows." I had been correcting with Botox for 10 Years and it was just becoming a burden and is tricky for injectors. I came in 3 separate times with Dr Chasen to go over and over what I wanted and be precise because he talked over me a lot and he brushed off what I said. I showed pictures of "fox brows," I pulled up my eyebrow edges to demonstrate, he said "yeah yeah I'll pull up from there." I felt unsure he understood what I wanted because our appointments were so quick and he talked over me, but his step daughter the billing intake assured me he knows what "fox brows" are and "I'd love the results!" I assumed an eyebrow lift must be such a straightforward easy procedure and must be why he is so dismissive. I paid 9k, even though I was quoted 5k by Dr Umansky in La Jolla, I paid more because I assumed being in Del Mar he must be good and since it is my face, it is worth it. He did my procedure in 30 minutes. After it settled my right brow was STILL lower, still requires Botox to make them even. I had no outward lifting, as in NO FOX BROW. He changed my arch to be a frown shape-so no arch and no fox brows, just 2 ugly frowns. At the first post op he said "I'll just add some Botox to lift your lower brow and if you're not happy-we can go back in under local and fix it!" When I came back he was in a bad mood, didn't even listen, said my head was tilted in the photo and they are actually "even" and "I've done this on thousands of patients and doing this for 30 years, I know more than you and if you don't like it, that's on you, I'm not touching it and if you want it fixed go somewhere else." And walked out and didn't even say good bye to me. Mind you-I was polite, kind, gentle when I admitted I didn't love my results and still think my right eyebrow just wasn't lifted enough. I said I wouldn't even be mad if we had to go back in to correct-i just wanted a good result. I had tears in my eyes, I even cried a little at the last appointment, I was never rude, I never yelled, I kindly asked him not to describe me as Mr Peanut, but otherwise did not deserve after spending all that money to be treated like a piece of shit. :( I'm don't know if I'm more upset about my treatment or my eyebrows. I do know that Dr Chasen figured out by my address that my husband is friends with his ex partner Dr Vince Marin whom they had a falling out with and perhaps this was a personal vendetta, who knows. At one of my first appointments he mentioned "my old partner Dr Marin always swore by sculptra and it never worked, that guy didn't know what he was doing!" Anyway, yes, it's better, but it easily could have been even and I did not get any lateral eyebrow raise/fox brows! I STILL have to correct them with Botox. Once I stepped in Ranch and Coast, Dr. C explained his approach, I canceled with the other doctor, even though my insurance was going to pay for a large portion. Dr. C spent quite a while with me, answered all of my questions. I always feel like once you get in front of a Dr they make you rush, you end up, leaving with more questions and then answers. That was not the case at Ranch and Coast! I immediately felt a huge relief, and knew it was going to be a great outcome. Jennifer, from the surgery scheduling department really made me feel comfortable. And made the process extremely easy. I was dealing with two ruptured silicone implants from a previous surgeon, and was dealing with a lot of pain and infection. So getting me booked ASAP was a huge part of this as well. I was booked for surgery within 10 days of my consult, which was amazing! I was up and feeling great the next day, and they were already looking perfect! Dr Chasan minimized my previous scars, and did not require making it anymore. That was another reason I chose not to go to the other surgeon. It's been exactly 11 days since my surgery, I am so unbelievably happy! Not only am I feeling so much better from the removal of ruptured silicone, but they look so great. Love the cleavage and the way Doctor Chasan does breast surgery. I would highly recommend, and I already have. Since I'm not local, most communication was done by phone and email. His staff was initially very responsive and helpful, and my consultation, though brief, felt aligned. Based on that, I scheduled surgery the same day. Things started to feel off at my in-person pre-op appointment the day before surgery. I expected to meet Dr. Chasan for the first time, but instead was seen only by a nurse who seemed disengaged. The appointment consisted of photos and basic instructions. When I asked if I could meet the doctor, I was told he was unavailable. This made me uneasy, but with surgery the next day and already paid for, I felt I had no choice but to move forward. The morning of surgery, I was brought back and expected to proceed without seeing the surgeon. I had to specifically ask to meet with him before anything began. That conversation was brief but reassuring. We aligned on the aesthetic goals, which gave me some relief. The surgery itself went smoothly, and Dr. Chasan did call me the evening after surgery to check in. I am overall satisfied with my result. However, I do have a slight inverted V, which is concerning, as I worry it may worsen over time and potentially require correction in the future. I'm hopeful that being two years out it won't worsen, however I haven't been given the opportunity to speak with Dr. Chasan to ask about this. Unfortunately, the post-operative care is where my experience completely broke down. I had a scheduled post-op phone appointment with Dr. Chasan that he never attended- he never called. When I reached out to the office, I was not connected with him and was instead put on the phone with a nurse. I never actually spoke with the surgeon. I later followed up via email and was told that I was the one who failed to follow up, which was simply not true. After correcting this, the staff member apologized. Despite that, I have still never heard from Dr. Chasan again. For a procedure as significant as rhinoplasty, the lack of follow-up and accountability was extremely disappointing. I had an accident when I was three where I knocked the corner of a chair when I was running and the chair fell on my left eye causing it to bleed continuously. My parents brought me to urgent care where the doctor simply put a few stitches to stop the bleeding. The doctor at that time wasn't an eye specialist and the botched job caused me to have ptosis and visible scar on my left eye growing up. Two years ago when taking photos, I noticed my droopy eyelid got worse. I found Dr Abboud online from all the amazing reviews, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions in my life. Dr Abboud did a fantastic job fixing my droopy eyelid. I was worried at first because my eye blood vessel bursted the night before I'm supposed to remove my stitches, and my eye bled continuously. Unfortunately, I am deeply unhappy with the results and the total lack of accountability regarding my concerns. My cheeks are noticeably uneven; one side remains significantly larger than the other. Now that over two years have passed since my procedure, I have developed deep irregularities (uneven and lumpy texture) across my cheeks and under my eyes. Instead of a smooth transition, the texture is uneven and looks unnatural. The lip lift left a very prominent and obvious scar underneath my nose. It is not the hidden or discreet result I was led to believe. Despite the facelift, I have an excessive amount of wrinkles around my neck, chin, and mouth area. As time goes on, the hollows and unevenness are becoming more pronounced rather than settling. The cost of these procedures was incredibly high. I feel that the premium prices patients pay are for his massive marketing and social media production, not for superior surgical skill. For the amount of money spent, one expects precision and personalized care, neither of which I received. When I met with Dr. Karam via Zoom four months post-op to express my dissatisfaction, he was dismissive. He refused to guarantee any revision work to correct these clear issues. It is now clear that this is a mass production practice where the focus is on bringing in new clients through polished social media photos rather than ensuring the long-term quality of the work. But, at his inflated increased pricing of $200k (I ended up paying $186k) the practice has work to do. His team could take some training from Hannah in his office. She is not only outstanding at what she does she saved me from another nurse in the office hurting me unnecessarily when trying to take out my stitches. Hannah's skill set is not only a cut above but she is extremely nurturing . More care less cheerleading would have been more in line with what I expected from Dr. Karam's office. Hannah just seemed to make everything better. And, lastly being left in a hallway when nervous prior to a surgery just isn't acceptable. It wasn't my job to bring comfort to a nervous patient waiting for her surgery appointment. But, I felt the need to do something for her as I felt like she did the day before waiting alone for mine. There are great surgeons with incredible skills and great bed side manners for a fraction of the price. Do more research than I did.

The scars left around my face are so incredibly noticeable that I have to get hair-transplanted to cover them. I cannot wear my hair up or back. The scars under my eyes, around my ears and hairline are incredibly noticeable. I have consulted with multiple surgeons in regards to my results, and all are shocked at not only what I paid, but the lack of results and permanent scarring. I have since had to undergo surgery to fix the GIGANTIC scar under my nose from the lip lift (super low), as well as the disproportion of my facelift (jowels left on the left of my face) and the skin that was left under my chin and neck. My neck lift was barely touched, yet the scars are horrendous. I had to have the bags corrected in my 2nd facelift by a SKILLED surgeon. My lower bleph left me with nothing but scars and bags. All of which I pointed out to Dr. Karam. I have asked for a refund to cover the cost of a facelift revision, lower bleph revision, neck lift revision, scar revision therapy as well as the hair transplants to cover the scarring around my face and hairline. I have reached out to Dr. Karam on several occasions, and my concerns were brushed off. I felt intimidated anytime I brought up my concerns, therefore my trust and faith in his ability to make this right has passed. This review has been a long time coming. Years ago, I found Dr. Sherman and thought I did my…read moreresearch to find a Board Certified surgeon. He was certified, but only after all the damage was done to my face, I found out he was NOT a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon; he was an ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor! I was quite self conscious of my acne scars, so he recommended a TCA peel and stated they would get rid of over 50% of my deep scarring. I trusted his expertise and got the procedure. I was left awake with no anesthetic whatsoever, and he blew a fan on one side of my face, while applying the 30% acid on my face over 7 times. It was like someone poured gasoline on my face, lit a match and left me to burn alive. My eyes started automatically crying from the pain, as the tears flowed down my face. Dr. Sherman very coldly told me in a loud voice, "stop crying, we can't have your tears in the solution." I told him I was not crying, but my body was automatically tearing and I could not stop it, and that it was excruciatingly painful. The nurse said, "I told you, doctor, this is too painful. We need to put patients under for this." (I never forgot that.) I was wheeled out in a wheelchair by a nurse and went home, and within 2 days, I knew something was very wrong. I called their office, but Dr. Sherman said, "it's normal; it will look bad for a while, but you are fine." I had just gotten married and did this right after my honeymoon, and my husband at the time said after 5 days, "I have to get out of here, the smell is so bad, and I am worried your face isn't going to look normal again." I honestly didn't blame him, because the smell of dead skin on my face was unbearable to smell, and I looked even worse. I had dead, gangrene skin hanging from the left-hand side of my face, the side the fan blew on, but my forehead was 100% healed. I called Dr. Sherman's office again and insisted he see me, even though he said some areas take more time to heal than others. I literally looked like Freddy Krueger, and we had to drive to his office while I hid in the car. The second he saw me, he immediately raised his voice and started scolding me and said, "Aren't you taking the antibiotics you were given?!" I replied and said, "No one gave me any antibiotics." My husband then confirmed this to be true. He went into another room, and within 2 minutes came in and said, "Here, take this." He said the nurse was supposed to give me antibiotics. (Apparently, they forgot...at my expense in many ways!) Since that procedure years ago, I have spent well over $25,000 trying to fix the permanent, deep pigment damage to my face and acne scars (not one acne scar went away from this procedure). I have an area on the side of my chin that has very old-looking skin from the deep infection. I recently just spent $7,000 on a Total FX laser procedure, and it didn't help where the infection caused such deep damage. A $600 TCA peel has caused thousands to correct, and years of more self esteem issues. I went back to Dr. Sherman a few years later to show him the damage and he literally had the audacity to say, "I would never have recommended a TCA peel to correct acne scars. What do you want, your money back? I'm not giving you your money back." I was dumbfounded. I didn't want my $600 back! I wanted to show him what he had done to me. He acknowledged NOTHING. And now he said (and I have a witness) that he never even recommended the TCA peel to begin with! Then I started doing my research and found he was Board Certified, but he JUST started getting into doing cosmetic procedures and had no experience at all! This man is a cold-hearted monster. He only cares about making money, and he does not stand by his work or his patients results if someone makes a mistake...like failing to give me ANY antibiotics so I don't get an infection. Given social media today, I felt I owed it to the many people who might go to this person and warn them, he is not what he appears to be. Buyer beware! I will live with severe pigment damage, where my face looks like someone drew brown around it and nothing covers it up, for the rest of my life. No procedure in all these years can fix it. I would never recommend this man to anyone for any reason. I am not hiding behind an anonymous name so you know this is 100% legitimate. Thank you. Note to Dr. Sherman: I find it disgusting and appalling that you do not remember doing my TCA peel and my husbands liposuction! One of his nipples was inverted and your nurse never gave me antibiotics, and my husband sat in the room with me when you recommended the TCA peel, saying a few of them would reduce my scarring by 50%. You were only an ENT as well and had no plastic surgery board certification. I even went back to you years afterward and you were rude and could care less about the lifetime of damage I have suffered due to you and your staff's negligence. How on EARTH do you forget about patients you've damaged?
