Great experience! Lots of knowledge and helpful advice. I came in because I was potentially interested in getting a bridge camera, primarily for birding, with zero photography experience or knowledge. I had done a bit of research online ahead of time, but wanted to talk through it with someone and get a better sense of feel and how it works/looks in person. Ended up walking out with a used Sony Rx10 iii in excellent condition and associated accessories (bag, extra battery, SD card, card reader, lens protector) and technicalllly under the budget I had stated... :) So far so good! A couple days after this purchase, I ended up going back to upgrade the bag to a slightly larger one that could hold some additional items. Now technicallllly slightly over budget lol but I'm happy about my items so far and the customer service/help! read more

Great, professional. They were able to assess the value of my 45 year old Canon cameras. This is where the pros go and I am not a pro. They also printed off some of my favorite photos from my iPhone. They are gorgeous and now adorn my family room. Good job and very reasonable prices. read more

What a fantastic store. For a few years there were no camera stores in the A2 area - very sad for someone who went to Big George's and Huron Camera for years. There's a great selection of new and used equipment. They also offer equipment rentals, classes and C-41 color film processing. The "new" location on Stadium offers more gear and easy parking. I was introduced to George Borel at CameraMall Ann Arbor on Stadium because I was in a position that I needed to have a wide spectrum of photography answers. The equipment that was to be evaluated was from professional photographers in Chicago. My business concerned the topic of art the individuals did, not to take space up with equipment. I was given items from several artists including 1940's undeveloped film, multiple cameras 1909 -1970, darkroom equipment, odd Format negatives, and flash bulbs the size of coke cans. I am old enough to even have experienced the processing of film and this was well past my ability to sort and save items of importance. Borel did it live walking around the car and inside with only two google searches! I had such a mass of items and issues that I saw him interact with customers, my rule after working years at a building store," When you are the project client" you MUST allow normal traffic questions to break into the project, whenever possible". Borel was considerate to both parties needs in the cases I saw. As expected there were a few valuable items that will mean a great deal to forward estates and projects. Borel was not greedy in his search of the items either. I offered him compensation as his knowledge saved so much time. He did not take any odd samples I offered it was simply refreshing someone who has experience sharing and helping in the most positive ways. Please do not abuse such a great resource. What a breath of fresh air, a camera store that has film and vintage equipment and support, and people that are wonderfully knowledgeable about all types of photography. They not only can support all of your photographic needs, from a Bogen head to Acros II, but your digital Nikons and darkroom work. Being able to discuss various aspects of approaches to photographic topics of interest was a pleasure. The shop used to be on Washington, and parking was a bear, but now out toward the west there is plenty of parking and a DQ right across the street in case the urge hits. There is plenty of covid safety precautions in place, so at least one can feel safe going into the store. read more

Wish I could give them 5 stars -- the prices of the equipment in the store they sell is actually pretty fair, but when it comes to buying equipment, they are not competitive. I realize they are in business to make money, but I was asking for a fair compromise in a selling price of my high-end camera equipment and didn't get it - even after spending around $4700 on a used camera from them. Regardless, the camera store is awesome and is arranged well with a fantastic selection of camera bodies, lenses and accessories. It's one of the best supplied camera stores I have seen in sometime. The people working there are friendly. I do recommend it for buying gear but not for selling your equipment. read more

I visited the CameraMall yesterday for the first time. I am an old school amateur photographer but needed some items for my new DSLR to take my son's senior pics with. Jarrod (sp?) was super nice, very knowledgeable, and helpful. He quickly and easily looked up what sizes and specs I needed as I didn't have the camera with me on this unexpected stop. I came in today desperate to get me filter off my lens. I tried about every trick on the internet that didn't include breaking me lens. as soon as I wales in they took a look at my camera, brought it to the back, and in minutes returned with the filter off an in great condition. I could spend an hour just talking camera news with the staff here! They are welcoming and will guide you through your search for either lenses, cameras or both. There is a large used selection and a nice variety of accessories, tripods, filters etc. The staff are welcoming to questions and want to make sure you feel secure with your purchase. I've been doing business with The Camera Mall for several years. All of my transactions have been top notch until last week when we hit a bump in the road. Without going into details, I will state that a misunderstanding caused me to leave the store with no intention of returning. I was very upset not only in the failed transaction but in losing trust in my favorite store. I was eventually contacted by the Owner, Desmond, who was very gracious about the situation. We were able to resolve the differences with simple communication. Desmond really stepped up in this case, to an unexpected extent. This is a very satisfactory outcome. Without a doubt the most incredible customer service I've received in decades, and maybe ever. It's important to remember that things happen. This place is fabulous! I've been going for three years now and their turnaround with film development is wonderful! I had a great experience at CameraMall. My mom gave me her old AE-1 so I could practice shooting film. I got my first roll developed at the store and the pictures turned out great! I couldn't believe how rich and vivid the colors were. The employees also gave me some useful advice about the camera and were very friendly and knowledgeable. I turned to eBay when I decided to buy a used AF-S 60mm Micro-Nikkor lens for my DSLR, and found a very nice copy with a US serial number being sold by a vendor I had never heard of before, CameraMall of Ann Arbor. They had great ratings on eBay, and a quick web search confirmed that they were highly regarded. Even better, they had a brick and mortar store and, though relatively new, were actually expanding. Just the kind of college town outfit I like to support! The same lens was listed at their physical store website, so I took the plunge and ordered it there rather than through eBay. The ordering process was flawless and the lens shipped fast. It arrived quickly too, nicely bubble-wrapped in a sturdy box. The lens itself is in great condition and works perfectly. I'm glad I decided to give CameraMall a try. I bought my d850 from George and his crew at the Camera Mall. Regretfully, I then went to an online store to purchase a third party lens from Tamron for a cheap alternative to the 24-70 Nikon version. I was very unhappy and didn't know what to do. George and his team told me to come on in, and they would have a look. Long story short, I took it in to George and he provided me a more than fair trade in (very close to actual resale) value for a year old lens so that I could upgrade to the Nikon version which I love. I can honestly say I will NEVER go anywhere else for my gear. I know George gave me a more than fair price, let me shoot the lens in store, on my camera and even offered me a 30 day return if I wasn't happy. Absolute professional, kind and more than that clearly care about photography and the consumer. I will never go anywhere else. Haven't been here in a while, but hoping they stay open past the current circumstances! The employees are incredibly helpful and their film developing is done in-house and extremely quickly. When I wanted to start using a film camera after trying out a disposable, they offered me an inexpensive and awesome used one and showed me the basics, where to find free resources, and let me know to come in for help. I would rather shop at this local store than hand my roll of film over to CVS any day. Their polaroid film is also relatively inexpensive, far more fairly priced than buying it anywhere else I've seen. read more

I was really having a hard time deciding between two cameras but the staff there really took their time and talked me through it. This place rocks! The fact that a new camera store has opened in Ann Arbor is nothing short of miraculous. We haven't had a real camera store in maybe a decade. The fact that they match Amazon.com prices at a bricks and mortar local store where you can actually try the cameras before buying is awesome! There now is no reason to not buy local. The fact that it is run by friendly knowledgeable people who are happy to help you with anything is wonderful! The icing on the cake? They have a whole wall of film and darkroom chemicals for sale for us old timers and the new generation who have "rediscovered" the beauty of analog processes. And used cameras for that Photo 101 course your taking. Kudos to Desmond and co-owners/co-workers for bringing this valuable resource back to our town! read more
