Looking for a dealership that will damage your car, leave you with new problems, and then take no responsibility? Unfortunately, that was my experience with Camelback Hyundai: I brought my 2023 Hyundai Elantra Limited Hybrid to Camelback Hyundai in June 2026 to replace the catalytic converter. From the beginning, I was given the runaround about my vehicle and the loaner. I was told the loaner could not be taken out of state, and I explained that this was a problem because I had a family emergency that required me to travel out of state with my vehicle. I was then told they would put a rush on my repair so I could get my car back in time. They gave me a specific date and time when my vehicle would be ready, but they did not meet the deadline they gave me. When I finally picked up my car, I discovered bird droppings that had damaged the paint on the hood and trunk, along with new dents on my vehicle. None of this damage was there when I dropped it off. I immediately returned to the dealership, and after reviewing their own photos, they acknowledged the damage was not there when I brought it in. Ishmeal knew I had a family emergency and didn't know exactly when I would be back. He specifically told me not to worry and that he would take care of the damage when I returned. When I eventually followed up, he said he would "have to look into it." The damage was never addressed. Now, I'm dealing with additional issues following their repair. My A/C isn't cooling properly, and there is a strong rotten-egg/exhaust smell coming into the cabin. When I called Ishmeal, he told me neither issue would be covered because "the catalytic converter is on the bottom." He also said the rotten-egg smell was from my battery expanding. My service receipt clearly shows that Camelback Hyundai replaced Part #28510-03HN0 -- the exhaust manifold catalytic assembly. On the 1.6L Elantra Hybrid, this integrated assembly is located in the engine bay and bolted to the engine, meaning the repair involved work in the same area as other engine-bay components, including the A/C system. The fact that these symptoms appeared after the repair warrants inspection of the exhaust gasket and A/C components that may have been accessed during the repair. The 2023 Elantra Hybrid also uses a high-voltage lithium battery system with a 12V lithium auxiliary battery integrated into the hybrid battery assembly under the rear seat. If the dealership's explanation is that a battery is expanding, overheating, or venting sulfur-smelling fumes into the cabin, that warrants immediate inspection as well. If a covered hybrid battery component is found to be defective, it should fall under Hyundai's applicable 10-Year/100,000-Mile Hybrid System Warranty. If the A/C or exhaust issue is determined to be related to the catalytic converter repair or workmanship, it should be addressed under Hyundai's 12-Month/12,000-Mile Service Parts and Labor Warranty. What is most frustrating is that this is not an isolated issue. The dealership acknowledged damage occurred while my vehicle was in its possession, Ishmeal promised to address it, and it was never resolved. Now I have new mechanical concerns following the repair and am being told they are unrelated without a proper inspection. I brought my car to a Hyundai dealership expecting professional service and accountability. Instead, I've experienced delays, conflicting information, and no resolution. I truly love my car but I hate this dealership. I bought my car through a different dealership and have not even owned it for more than a couple months now - less than 4500k on the odometer and already the car is literally rattling from a loose screw or something and nobody wants to help me at Camelback Hyundai. This is my third attempt at working with this dealership. Literally the same thing happened when I went to try and purchase the car. I brought in cash and no one wanted to take the time to figure out how to find the color I wanted - so I bought the car from a dealership 25 miles away where the service was better. Terrible experience. Bought my EV here (which I love) 2 years ago and to this day they won't stop calling me trying to get me to trade it in or upgrade. Also when I bought it they couldn't find the factory charger it was supposed to come with and tried to give me some aftermarket charger instead. They were super pushy about it. First I got hassled in the waiting area by salesmen trying to get me to look at cars to replace my Sonata, which I have no desire to do. Then I get a long list of things "wrong" with my car that they want to fix like filters, fluids, oil changes, tires, brake calibration, etc, etc when all I came in for was the software update. I should have been in and out in 1/2 an hour and was there over 2 hrs being nickeled and dimed to spend unnecessary money. I won't be back to your dealership anytime soon! read more

I've delayed writing this because I usually avoid negative reviews, but after repeated issues with both Camelback Hyundai and Hyundai Motor Finance, I'm beyond frustrated. Dealership Experience: I purchased what I believed was the car I test drove. A week later, I was told the VIN on my paperwork didn't match the car I drove home--they sold me the wrong car. I had to return and swap vehicles. No apology, no compensation, no accountability--just "here's your new car." The salesperson barely acknowledged me during the exchange. Completely unprofessional. Finance Nightmare: For 2.5 years, I made every payment on time without issue. In October, I requested to move my due date by four days due to a temporary hardship. That single request caused chaos: * My account now shows "Past Due" despite all payments being made. * I've spent hours on the phone, transferred multiple times, hung-up on twice, and still no resolution. * I've been given contradictory excuses: "payment bounced" (it didn't), "due date change caused it," "allocation error," etc. yet no one could problem solve Even supervisors couldn't fix it and escalated it without follow-up. Review I rarely leave reviews, but anyone buying a car needs to be warned about this dealership and the manipulation that occurs within it. I am a very informed vehicle buyer and have purchased used vehicles from several different dealerships across the U.S., but this was by far the worst. We had three different salesmen plus two managers lie to us multiple times about a myriad of topics concerning our transaction. When confronted, they would blame the other employees and then scurry away before helping resolve the issue. DO NOT take anyone's word for law at this dealership; if it's not written in your contract, they WILL take advantage of you and lie as if you never inquired. Easily the most unprofessional, manipulative group of men I've ever worked with; avoid at all costs. For those still reading, examples include: 1) The salesmen promised the vehicle would be filled up with gas before we drove the vehicle off the lot. This was promised by multiple salesmen. We asked for it to be in written in the contract multiple times, only to be ignored, and at one point scolded that this was their standard protocol for over 30 years. So, we didn't push back and trusted their word. Their "standard protocol" changed upon completion of the purchase and they refused to fill up more than half the tank, saying nobody ever promised that and that we misunderstood them. 2) "Best car detail" we've ever seen was promised. We drove away with pre-existing liquid stains (that a detail would've removed), dirt all in the trunk, and a plethora of trash in the seat pockets from previous owner. 3) Thankfully, an out the door price was established early on by myself, but last minute clerical errors within the dealership, stemming from an insufferable lack of internal communication, resulted in the dealership attempting to force us to pay the difference of their mistakes. 4) An active duty military discount promised during the test drive by the salesman was retracted during the price negotiation. The dealership went back on their word, stating "There are no active duty military service discounts for pre-owned", even though it was offered on the test drive in the used vehicle. This dealership doesn't stand behind their word and there's likely an incentive program amongst the sales department that encourages the manipulative behavior exhibited by its employees. Attempting to take advantage of seasoned active duty military service members is a disgraceful act, of which is the least of this dealership's concerns. Avoid this dealership at all costs! read more

But it took one bad experience to throw that relationship out the door and because of it will never go back. Briefly, had a service maintenance done which was way overpriced. First-time buyer here, and I've never felt more disrespected or condescended to in a professional setting. I came in with a clear budget, clear expectations, and a desire to be taken seriously. Instead, I was talked down to and made to feel like a helpless little girl who didn't know how to drive, despite stating I've been driving for years. Ahmad despite being nice, repeatedly explained things like how to turn the car on, how to adjust my seat, and how to move the steering wheel. Things he knew I already understood. Daniel was even worse. When I decided to walk away from the sale to think things over (because I was clearly uncomfortable), my friend, who was there to support me, simply backed me up(when they continued to hassle a clearly shy uncomfortable person). And his response? A snarky "who's buying the car?" Like he didn't already know. The tone was rude, unnecessary, and meant to shut us down. The pressure was constant. My discomfort was ignored. And the second I asserted myself, it became almost hostile. If you're a young woman, especially one buying her first car without a co-signer, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. I found another dealership that treated me with the respect every customer deserves; no pressure, no condescension, just actual help. That's how it should be. read more

This store appears to be grossly understaffed in the customer service area. It's also wildly unclear what the purpose of an appointment is for if you can't be seen at that time. There was zero incentive to stay & waste any more of my time. It really service at dealerships that makes me never ever want to purchase another Hyundai. Do not purchase a vehicle from here unless you want high pressure sales, and consistent spam phone calls. I have been contacted by several different numbers, calling multiple times per day. I have called into the front desk, and asked each caller to put me on a do not call list. When you don't answer they call back a second or third time. And sometimes a different sales person will call you back within 5 minutes of asking to be taken off the call list. They call late at night, they call on holidays (3 times on my birthday, and so far 2 times today on the 4th of July). I know that it's not the service or sales department here directly, but they are obviously the ones who sold my contact information to be harassed by these people. There are Class Action Lawsuits filed against this company for the same issue and unfortunately I've tried blocking and contacting Camelback Hyundai and they are leaving me with no other choice than to leave negative reviews after 2 years of constant BS sales calls. If someone reading this can fix this issue for me I'd gladly change this review, but it's getting to a point where I would recommend everyone to stay clear of this company to avoid them selling their personal information to spam calling companies. I have used the service department a number of times and have been satisfied. However, when I took my car in on Friday I found there is a $67 charge if you use a credit card to pay. The preferred payment method is a debit card. I don't use a debit card for anything and haven't for years. I no longer have one. I won't be coming back to this dealership. I have never heard of a car repair place/major corporation adding on a credit card service fee. If you are getting something simple and inexpensive done like an oil change, 3% is not a big deal. I applied for a dodge Durango and Jacob one of the sales people texted me saying I was approved for the Durango he texted me multiple times saying call me now. called me I answered and he said when can you come in I said I don't have the full 3000 they wanted. so he said we can take 500 for now until you have the rest they got me a Lyft there and when I got there another sales rep Anthony drove me to Wells Fargo to withdrawl 500. we got back to the dealership when he said lets get the 500 i gave them the 500 and they brought me a receipt and a contract for a KIA I asked do you have a contract for the durango they said I wasn't approved for the Durango and approved for a Kia instead. They tried to get me to sign a contract for a 2026 Kia for 750 a month. I never signed a thing. I ended up giving them the 500 to hold the Kia because Jacob came and kinda made me think it was good I got a receipt And I thought about it while they ordered a Lyft. I ended up changing my mind and asked for the 500 back. Jacob came said no why. tried to belittle and he gave a " motivational speech" and said think about if u change your mind we'll give u your money back. I didnt want to miss the Lyft so I said ok. The next day I called to ask them for my money back I sent Jacob and email before I called saying I want my 500 back I don't want to drive a Kia to build my credit id rather save up for something else. I call Jacob ask him to check his email he says ok reads it says " I want my 500 blah blah blah blah blah we can't do that " and hangs up. I call back ask for a manager they put me on hold and hang up I call back 5 more times and every time hang up on me. Finally I get a manager Chad on the phone he says they cant give a refund its non refundable I said they never said it was non refundable I have a receipt that doenst say non refundable on it he stays quiet and i said so can I get my money back he says no I said so what am i gonna have to sue you guys? he says yea and hangs up. I call back get Jason on the phone he says the same, non refundable. I tell him they never told me non refundable. I tell him I'll sue if they don't give me a refund he says that's fine take it up with our legal team and hangs up. I call back another person answers I ask for a manger they put me on hold and hang up. I call back a lady answers I tell her they keep hanging up on me she says omg I'm sorry says I'll go someone u can speak to puts me on hold and hangs up. I quit trying this time. And have my girlfriend calll them to ask for a refund too she calls once and they tell her okay I'll get u a paper check and give u a call back when it's ready 30 minutes later they call and tell her the check is ready to be picked up. They sold me a lemon. Check engine light on as soon as I left dealer. Car had 40 miles brand new. 2 service trips and they say the catalytic converter is damaged and needs to be replaced. This is clearly a defective car and asked for refund of money or exchange for different car. They won't replace car. It is highly unlikely that the check engine light and problem wasn't known.
