I came here because they're listed as a Birkenstock retailer and I wanted to try out a few different styles. They didn't have a huge selection but there was one style that I was interested in. The woman working there greeted me but seemed hesitant to actually help me, and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to search through the different sizes by myself, so it was a little awkward until I explicitly asked to try on a specific shoe. Once I was trying on the shoes she was helpful with sizing. Overall a good place for high quality (read: pricey) shoes, with a great selection of creative socks and tights. I would return here to buy Dansko's, Birkenstocks, etc., or maybe for cute socks as a gift. read more

Just bought a great pair of shoes! I work on my feet and have been finding that sneakers just don't lend me enough support anymore. Cambridge Clogs found me a great pair of clogs that make me feel like I am walking on air! There were 2 other customers in the store and only one employee at the time. She was completely able to answer questions, offer solutions and juggle each person's shopping needs. There is no reason to buy your socks/tights/foot accessories anywhere else if you live in Cambridge/Somerville. HUE socks are much prettier and better quality than ones you'll find at Target and they even cost the same price or less. In addition to HUE, Vintage etc carries SmartWool and many, many other brands of socks. For such a small store, they offer an impressive array of fun socks, clogs, rain boots, and tights. Every part of the store's walls are covered with them. The owner & staff really know their stuff about sock materials, warmth, weight, how clogs should fit, etc. and my coworker told me that she got a discount on her clogs for mentioning that she works in the service industry! read more

Love this hidden gem! Great variety of tights, socks, clogs, shoes. The staff really knows what they're talking about, and were able to help me find sturdy tights that were fun and yet still work appropriate. I've been buying cheap tights for years, and they always quickly pill and run within a few months, or they sag and the elastic wears out. The woman who was helping me told me that she is stress testing everything they carry in the store, so she can honestly say which kinds hold up to months and months of wear and washing. They have a section of two for $20, which may seem expensive when you can buy three for $15 at H&M, but I swear these are much more durable and better quality. read more

Great customer service and thoughtfully curated selection of shoes! I visited the store today to purchase a pair of Birkenstock clogs to replace the ones my cat had ruined (don't ask) and had called ahead to make sure they had my size. The gentleman who took my call was very helpful and when I went into the store later that day, the shoes were ready and waiting for me. A different salesperson was there but she was just as helpful as the first person with whom I'd spoken. When I inquired about an additional pair of shoes that were unavailable, she offered to special order them for me. All in all, a pleasurable experience. Highly recommended! read more

I love different types of tights and hosiery. I like to mix it up in order to add pizzaz to my outfits. When I was at a seminar in Boston the instructor asked me if I'd gotten my tights at "that tight store in Cambridge." I had to research this place. We went in today to check them out. Yes, they had stuff that you can get at the brand name stores, but they also had stuff you really can't. Customer service wise, if I said jump they were asking how high while they were already in the air. They have a huge selection of hosiery of all types. If hosiery means anything to you, I strongly suggest you check them out. They really are a nice little specialty nook. read more

This place rules. If you go to any of the local restaurants, you will notice that every server is wearing a pair of Dansko clogs because they're cute and more comfortable than many pairs of slippers I've owned in my lifetime...and they all get them from this place. This is yet another of the really cool little independent shops between Porter and Harvard, and it gets two gigantic thumbs up from me. For such a small, independent shop, they do a fantastic job staying stocked and having an incredible range of clogs all the time. Also great for fun socks, which make great, cheap presents for people you don't know very well. Or people you do know very well who might just love socks. This shop has the best selection of socks/tights anywhere. Affectionados of HUE brand will be like a kid in a candy shop. The selection of clogs is less expansive than in years past, but they still have a reasonable selection in unusual patterns and colors. About twice a year they have a limited supply of samples at affordable prices. If I could give a 3.5 star rating I would, primarily because of the sales staff. Customer service can run from graciously solicitous to outright rude. For whatever reason, the sales staff don't seem like browsers (read potential customers) and aren't particularly helpful. If you happen to go there when no other customers are there, you will get plenty of attention. The owner mentioned to me some time ago that she had a new business plan to improve sales, hence fewer clogs/shoes. That being said, she might look to improve overall customer service in ensure that customers are satisfied and return to make purchases. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this store. We walked in because they had a couple of cute tights in the window, but I walked in and fell in love. They have the cutest most unique selection of socks and tights. Yes, it is a little pricey, but what can you expect from a store in Boston? I really like that all of their socks were on display so you know exactly what the design looks like when you put it on, plus the owner was so helpful and nice, but not in the pushy "buy my stuff now" kind of way. Came into the store looking for a specific type of clog. They did not carry it. The owner tried to talk me into another clog but I was really looking for a particular brand and tried to explain that. Once she realized she wasn't going to make a sale the owner basically refused to look at me or speak to me. I'd had similar experiences in other attempts there, and similar to other shoppers who felt the paranoid displeasure of the owner when they were trying on shoes they weren't sure about. A lot of people in this area would spend the money to buy locally versus online, in fact this is why I ventured over there in the first place, but not when the experience is this unpleasant! read more

My Dansko clogs were falling apart, after 10 years of wearing them. I came to Cambridge Clogs because they carry Sanita clogs, and there is a big difference. (Dansko clogs are now made in China, and their quality has slipped noticeably). In addition, I was lucky enough to get one-on-one guidance from one of the owners, and she was extremely knowledgeable. She fitted me with a different size from the size I've been wearing for the past 20 years, and wow. My feet are so happy today!! OK, the owner here has some serious insecurity/hostility issues. She is terse, abrupt, and quite simply put, really rude. I have stopped going to this store, and instead buy my clogs (I'm a Dansko super fan) on Zappos, or at Berk's in Harvard Square. I was in there once and spotted a fellow customer with a really cute pair of clogs. I thought she was trying them on there and was going to ask to see a pair in my size as well. The other customer informed me that these were, in fact her own clogs, and that she had purchased them online from Zappos. With that, the owner stormed onto the scene, seemingly out of the woodwork, and started berating the two of us for shopping at Zappos. Yeah...ok. I'll spend double the money to keep your piss poor business alive, lady. The other thing that I CANNOT stand is that I walk into this store and the owner literally pulls out a megaphone to proclaim to the whole of Mass Ave that my feet are really wide. I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but come on...really. Since when are wide feet a source of pride? She announces this factoid to me as if she were letting me in on some little secret that I hadn't noticed. Me? Wide feet? You don't say. I hadn't noticed. Here's the ultimate kicker, though. If I didn't find it so hilarious it might have pissed me off. One night after work, I went for a beer at the Independent pub in Union Square. The owner of Vintage was in there having a beer. I swear to you on a stack of holy Bibles, she looked at me when I walked into the bar, cast a glance down to my feet, and asked, "Are those Dansko's? I didn't think that particular style would be comfortable for somebody with such a wide foot." REALLY??? I turned and left the bar. So, not only has she lost my business in her own store, but she has driven me away from the Independent as well! One other reviewer made a comment about this owner's constant complaints about the sagging economy. Maybe if she weren't on a one-woman mission to singlehandedly drive customers out of local businesses, the economy might be stronger. read more

The divergent reviews of this store on yelp is a bit schizophrenic, like the owner. I've bought most of my clogs here but had never interacted with her. Last time I visited the store was the first time I ever spoke to her and I left the store a bit confused by my experience..."did that really happen? Did she just scream at her customer? Should I have responded or was it safer to walk out? Didn't she have an unidentifiable nordic accent when I walked in, before the screaming began?" Of course I left the store without the shoes I was interested in but found it for a lower price on the internet. Berk's all the way if you want to support local business. Stay away unless you are willing to take the risk of the WORST shopping experience. It's a gamble what kind of experience you'll have though. I have lived around the corner from this store since 1994. I shopped there a number of years ago and bought a pair of clogs. The owner (a tall thin blonde who never smiles) offered me pads that could be attached to the inside top edge of the clogs to cushion the bone on top of my foot. She put them on for me. What she failed to mention was that, once she put the pad in, she would not accept the clogs for return. I was out the money for shoes I couldn't wear. I ended up donating them to Goodwill. I wish I had written this review then. What happened to me today compelled to write this review. If I could give them -50 stars, I would. I went in today to try on a pair of clogs. (Glutton for punishment). There was a guy working, 6ft with a scruffy beard. There was one other customer, a man buying BIRKENSTOCK sandals. I didn't want to interrupt and found the brand I wanted to try in the men's version in my size on their display wall. All I needed to do was slip it on and see if it rubbed the bunion on my foot. It did so I didn't even stand up to walk in it. Below is the conversation that ensued: Bearded guy says "You know that's a man's shoe." I replied, "Yes and it's the size I wear." Bearded guy says, "Let me get a pair of them so you can try them both on TOGETHER." I said, "That's okay..."before I could finish my sentence to tell him the shoe wouldn't work, Bearded guy interrupted me and said, "No, it's NOT okay." "We don't want the shoe stretched out." He was standing over me and was very hostile and confrontational. I put my sneaker back on, put the clog back in its display. Then, Bearded Guy says, "Thanks for stopping by." Needless to say, I WILL NEVER GO INTO THAT STORE AGAIN. Unless you want to be subjected to rudeness, hostility and an attitude like "YOU ARE LUCKY WE OPENED THE STORE TODAY" like the waitresses at Durgin Park, DON'T shop here!!! read more

They have some nice shoes, but the customer service is horrible - I will never shop there again! They gave me the wrong size clogs (I asked for 38 and got 39) which unfortunately I didn't realize until after I had worn them once. They would not exchange them, and further suggested that my old size 38 clogs were the wrong size to begin with, then tried to sell me some overpriced insoles! they have some cute shoes (trippens, wolkys and cydwoqs) and a couple of the staff are really nice and helpful but on multiple occasions I have found the owner and some of the other staff to be really crass/rude. On one occasion the owner acted very sugary sweet when we came in and then once she found out we were just looking she became very cold, one of her staff members stood there staring at us the entire time we were in the store yet did not say anything.. it was uncomfortable to say the least. I had a credit there, I used it as quickly as possible so that I never have to go to either of the owner's stores again. This store has great shoes, but is definitely not for everybody. It is the only place in the area where you can find Trippens, amazingly stylish and practical boots. Dansko & Wolky can be found around town, though. The selection of socks & tights can't be beat. It goes up & down with the service & staff. I can't decide if I hate going here or can't resist. I'm going to hope that the past difficulties of the owner's personality had something to do with weird life events. After all, don't we all have times when we aren't our best? read more

Not gonna lie, I was a little scared to go here after reading all the other reviews. But my mom was visiting and she has a love affair with clogs, so in we went. There were one or two other people in the store trying on shoes, and the place is small enough that it felt a little cramped. But the selection is pretty good despite that, and the prices were great. They even had a wall of sample shoes all in my size (38)! The owner and sales assistant were both a little weird (though I guess it's hard not to hover in a 10x10 space) but they knew their stuff and were mostly friendly. Maybe we caught them on a good day? Maybe they've taken their yelp reviews to heart? Either way, we both had a good experience and got some great summer walking shoes. I went in here yesterday on a whim, and it was such a good trip. The staff was so helpful and friendly and happy to help my search for non-leather Dansko-type shoes. They even busted out the catalog, showing me all of the options I'll have in fall, and explained the whole Sanita vs Dansko thing. Such great customer service is a welcome change! I love this tiny little store. The employees are so knowledgable, helpful and friendly. Plus they have a million different types of socks for every purpose, plenty of fun designs, etc. Every so often, I go there and buy 4 or 5 pairs. Last time, the saleslady made me aware of a discount I could get if I bought one more pair, which I totally appreciate. I love quirky little shops like this. Yes it's small. And the staff aren't totally all kissy face. But they have great clogs and they make sure you get a good fit. And piles and piles of great gifty socks. I can't believe this place is still in business. I shopped there in the 90's and hadn't been back until recently. I remember the owners being rather hostile back then. Fast forward 20 years and nothing has changed. If anything, they are even worse. Granted, they have a great selection of socks, tights and clogs, but their disposition and customer service is absolutely the worst. I have purchased several pairs of clogs and tights here from a wide variety of staff members, including the owner. I've never had a terrible experience whatsoever (I find the owner perfectly pleasant, albeit somewhat opinionated and direct), but I definitely have left without shoes because they didn't have my size in stock, which is unfortunate, as I was ready to buy shoes when I entered. Their stock seems to be increasingly limited, which is a bummer. Their selection of socks and tights are really fantastic , however, and while expensive, will last a very long time. read more

CONFESSION TIME: I used to be a sock person. You know, multi-colored argyles, polka dots, striped tights, textured leggings, Santa Claus ankies. Then my life changed and I switched to earrings, but that's a long sad story... I went into Vintage because of the amazing sock display in the window. I was drawn like a moth to a flame. This store has an incredible variety of colors and styles as well as novelty knee highs with every different dog breed imaginable (some are pretty ugly, but what a gift for that fanatic golden owner! serves them right!) I barely registered the shoes, but there seemed to be a good variety of colorful rubber boots. Service was helpful and friendly, but it was a pretty quiet day. read more

I had been to this store about six years ago to buy my first pair of Danskos and didn't have an impression good or bad. When I looked Cambridge Clogs up on yelp to find the address, I was a little nervous since lots of people were saying the owner is nuts, but I went anyway. In short, I found her to be knowledgeable, extremely helpful and very very nice. She is matter of fact, and her no BS style is refreshing. I went on a Saturday morning with my mother, prime retail busy time, and she took the time to answer my questions and encouraged that I try on a few pairs in each size since they can vary slightly. I bought two pairs of clogs and will absolutely be back! The shoes last so long, it will probably take me three years to wear them out, but when I do, Cambridge Clogs is where I'll go! read more

If they offer up "slip resistant" shoes, make sure the ASTM or other certification is stamped on the the shoe or packaging somewhere...owner advised they were but no stamp on the $135 clogs or box they came in. Purchased some Sanita clogs, no stamp, no certification and called the company's US headquarters..."slip-resistant" shoes are in production but not yet available. I was just in this shop today (the owner told me she's renamed it to "Cambridge Clogs") and was appalled by the service. What began as a pleasant browse, with a little small talk with the owner as I was the only customer for the first couple of minutes, quickly became embarrassingly unpleasant. Two ladies came into the store to complain about a certain brand of clogs, and the owner proceeded to fawn over them, ignoring my gestures for assistance as I needed help finding tights in my size, which at that moment I was planning to purchase. I stood watching her for about 5 minutes, unsure whether to interrupt her, and finally when she gave me light of day I told her I wanted to buy the tights, but needed help with the sizing. She frowned at me, then looked briefly at the shelf and said she's out of my size, and that she's discontinuing that line of products. When I asked why - was there something wrong with it, or were they replacing it with something better, she curtly replied that customers just don't seem to like it. How extremely unhelpful. Before I could say anything else, she turned back to the other customers and proceeded to ignore me again. I told her I'd changed my mind about buying anything and left the shop, and I could have sworn she said "thank goodness" as I left. I've never been treated so badly before in any store, and I caution anyone against going into that store, whatever its new name may be. There's probably a good reason why the owner needed to change its name. read more
