Instead, what you actually get is a one-hour train ride, a tiny carton of chocolate milk, a small candy cane from Santa that seemed like it had been sitting around for a while, and a cookie... except they had already run out by the time we got ours. There were enough people on the train that they were probably bringing in well over $1,200 for a single one-hour ride, yet two seats were covered with plastic bags because, I'm guessing, some kids couldn't hold their hot cocoa. Little details like that made it feel like corners were being cut. The train staff, however, were fantastic. The conductors were genuinely friendly and treated my daughter wonderfully. Santa was believable, warm, and exactly what you'd hope for. The kids also ended up singing Christmas songs together because none of the staff were really performers, but everyone did their best to keep the atmosphere festive. Here's the funny part: while I spent the whole ride mentally calculating whether we got our money's worth, my daughter couldn't have cared less. She absolutely loved it. To her, it was magical. In the end, that's what matters most to me. I still think the value for the money was pretty questionable--and, honestly, it felt like quite a racket--but seeing my daughter so happy made it hard to stay cynical. It's Christmas, after all, and that joy counts for something.

It was a kick crossing HWY 126 a couple of times with the band jamming, people dancing and everyone raising there glasses to the cars stopped at the train crossing. Definitely a must do.

Check-In & Service: We arrived early, and the check-in process was quick and easy. The staff were friendly and welcoming. After choosing our carts and loading our belongings, we had time to use the restroom before the ride began. It's easy to drive and if you don't feel like pedaling, the motor will do it for you -- no steering is required! Pro Tips Bring a Small Pillow This was a game-changer! We brought small pillows and placed them behind our backs, which significantly reduced vibration and made the ride much more comfortable. Thank you to the reviewer who suggested this--we had zero complaints. Bug Spray & Sun Protection Bring bug spray or insect repellent. The bugs weren't too bad during our visit, but it's nice to have. An umbrella can also provide extra shade if desired. Bring Water There is a cup holder on each cart, so staying hydrated is easy. Secure Loose Items Be careful when placing items in the cup holder. There's a small opening on one side, and smaller items can slip through. My bug spray fell out during the ride. Fortunately, there's also a basket available for purses and other belongings. Hair & Helmets If you have long hair, wear it down or in a very low ponytail so it fits comfortably under the helmet. Shoes Closed-toe shoes are highly recommended. Since you may be pedaling at times, it's possible to lose a loose-fitting sandal or flip-flop. Sunglasses Definitely bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from dust, wind, and the occasional bug. Restrooms & Snacks There is an opportunity along the route to purchase snacks and use the restroom (outhouse). Overall We had a fun time. One of our favorite parts was taking in the scenery, spotting native plants, and simply enjoying being outside. I get annoyed with airport shuttle services (I just want to get straight to the airport!) so, even though they are cheaper, a taxi or limo was what I wanted. Craigslimo, although based in the Valley, had a great rate for transporting me from Irvine to LAX. I called and my address & travel info was taken as was my credit card information. A couple days later a driver in a towncar arrived at my doorstep exactly on time and loaded our multiple bags into the trunk then politely opened the rear door for us. It was a very nice and comfortable car with bottled water provided. We zipped to the airport and arrived quicker than I expected. After unloading our bags I tipped the driver but then was told he needed my credit card to run through one of those old-school imprint machines. Then why did I spend time to give all my info over the phone?, I wondered. The driver then explained that a gratuity was automatically added on as part of the charge. He was polite enough to immediately offer my cash tip back, which created an awkward situation. Wish they had explained this over the phone! Well, now you and I both know. Two weeks later I was certain they probably forgot our pickup request and, as our plane landed in LAX, I started to think of backup plans. But as we waited in customs I called and was pleasantly surprised to be told they were expecting us and the driver was ready to pick us up - just call again once we were headed to the curb. After we got our baggage and headed outside, I called again and was told the driver was on the way. Within a couple minutes of getting to the curb the driver arrived and loaded our bags into the car. Our driver got us home quickly, even finding an alternate route with minimal delay when we encountered an unexpected freeway closure. He carried our bags right to our doorstep (and then we had to deal with that silly imprint machine again but this time I knew it was coming!). Craigslimo is responsible and offers a good rate for a comfortable ride.
