I've taken the Metrolink frequently over the years. Parking has never been an issue, but you just have to be aware of your surroundings as this place seems a bit sketchy at night/early morning, but I guess many train stations are probably the same way. Inside the station is typically neat and clean, and the people I've encountered here have been friendly. You can also buy some snacks if hungry - or just need something sugary or salty because you've had a sucky day. You can buy Metrolink tickets on the app or at the kiosk. Typically, it's better to try to buy your tickets through the app than the kiosk as sometimes there's a wait to buy your ticket at the kiosk, especially if you like to wait until the last minute before purchasing a ticket like me. Metrolink seats on the train are typically clean, although passengers do leave crumbs and unidentified substances on the seats. There's also been flooding on a train car here or there due to the toilet over flooding. There's also a "quiet car" where no conversation is allowed. Fun fact: a guy started singing and loudly playing his guitar on the train...in the quiet car...at 6 in the morning. I was absolutely ecstatic when the conductor came around and told him to stop playing. I really need the time on my work commute to sleep or panic think about my upcoming work day. The train conductors get 5 stars. Several of them make the effort to get to know your name or make time to chat with you, and they are professional and helpful when there is a time delay or other issue arises. read more

If you are attractive to Oxen, then perhaps you make Oxen-hard. This is not that. Greyhound in Oxnard stops at the main Amtrak station which is a big reddish building with gorgeous shapes on the towers and roof, and actually looks a little bit more Northeastern and Midwestern then it does like quintessential California. Oxnard is a busy but sleepy City that reminds me of San Luis Obispo and Ventura and Santa Barbara, and the station is a similar size to those, and not too many people who live around here use the Greyhound anyway in my experience. The Oxnard Transit Center is actually mainly all about the Pacific Surfliner that comes through here, which is an amazing train, and it has a big road right across the platform, which is what I always remember about it. And the station isn't one of the classically beautiful ones, that's for sure. It's called the Oxnard Transit Center, and all the buses terminate here, and of course Greyhound and the Amtrak trains. The Oxnard Metrolink is located right at the Oxnard Transit Center as you would imagine. It's pretty generic but the Surfliner is an amazing train in general. There was a horrible Metrolink crash right here a long time ago, and it's a pretty hazardous crossing, not too much fun, but amazingly the crash didn't cause any fatalities. However, on another occasion, two people were killed when their vehicle was struck by a train. read more

I took the Amtrak from the Oxnard Station back to San Diego when I was visiting Malibu. You can read my review I posted earlier of the train station in San Diego but I am not a fan of taking the Amtrak. It takes way way longer than it would to drive yourself, like twice the time plus it's more expensive for a train ticket than it would be for gas. Also, don't get me started on how uncomfortable and dirty the train is. Never again. Aside from the Amtrak itself, the Oxnard Station is not bad the only reason I'm giving it more than 1 star. They do have a cute little cafe located inside that makes handcrafted coffee drinks and they also sell snack and little items. I ordered an Iced Lavender Latte and bought some Poptarts for the ride. Definitely a better train station than others. read more

The security in this station is top notch, making sure all customers feel safe while dealing with homelessness in a very dignified and compassionate manner. I waited 2 hours (by choice) for my train and it gave me time to observe the stellar job these security officers perform. read more

This train station has a ticket counter, snack store , restrooms, ticket machines and helpful staff. It is best to get your ticket online, it is short staffed at times and the line is slow and the trains stop for only a split second here. you can catch city busses from this location and if you have a little time to spare then tip your hat next door and enjoy a margarita or too. I had no issues whatsoever buying my ticket and was well informed of the details regarding my train. Thanks! On a side-note, I came on a Monday night. Everything seemed closed except for the Amtrak station, so if you wanted to buy some food while you wait, I'd highly suggest some of the restaurants down the street! read more

I come here for the Greyhound station. The staff at the counter is always friendly and upbeat. I get over-sized packages shipped here much cheaper than using FedEx or UPS. Convenient location and the round-about out front allows parking for loading and unloading. read more

I ride the Metrolink train daily. As an able bodied person the process is easy. However, if you have a disability there is a security guard there to provide assistance. Today I witnessed his lack of compassion and understanding as an individual with a walker asked about a ramp to ease the transition to board the train. The security attendant was rude and unwilling to provide the level of service needed by this individual. Luckily the other passengers were here to provide assistance. Train attendants are always courteous and attentive. The station security staff is not meeting minimum standards. You need to retrain him or release him. read more

This station is a lot better than the Camarillo one, though not by much, it at least has a building for commuters to wait in and numerous taxis/bus station is right outside the door. If that isn't enough, I believe there's a car service that runs out of here. The Oxnard Transportation Center is an Amtrak and Metrolink rail station. It is served by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, Coast Starlight, and Metrolink's Ventura County Line. Greyhound buses and Gold Coast Bus Lines serve the station also. There are adequate benches to sit and wait for your bus or train. The Amtrak staff is very friendly and helpful, The snack shop is not always open and lacks a good food, but there are a couple of soda machines. If you are hungry go across the street to La Gloria Mexican Market where they sell a variety of burritos and taco plates and good coffee. read more

I'd rather show up to a pair of soda machines and a ticket dispenser than deal with this place. And the lady at the snack shop was really rude. When I asked her for her name, she said 'No speak English". Which is RIDICULOUS! How are you going to work at a transportation center, and not be able to converse with your customer? Anyway, so she was a big loser. The bathrooms were gross. The coffee machine was out of order, along with the change machine. There isn't a negative star on this rating system? This is a sad place to be at if you didn't buy your ticket in advance. I was in line with plenty of time to purchase a tix for Amtrak train to LA, and three out of five times, I had to run to catch the train. Once, the man behind the window just told a couple of us in line to run to the train and purchase it there. I did and it was $10 ontop of usual fare. Not Fair for sure! I dred catching the train here. Their customer service should really be looked at. One poor guy looks like he needs help at times, while another has an attitude with customers. Warning: Be explicit with your purchase, you don't want to get the wrong ticket, and need to purchase again. Amtrak, seriously, figure it out. read more

This station facilitated both train and bus transportation, however it has two major problems. The first are the psychotic homeless that have made the facility not only a home, but a community. California offers many welfare programs and employment assistant aid, so don't be fooled these people are desperate. They scream profanities, threaten people who make eye contact both hostile and non-hostile and attempt to solicit cash for .50 on the dollar EBT fraud to people that pass by. The second problem relates to how tourist centric and suburban the station is. They open after thee early commute trains have long past leaving early 6:00am travelers to wait and freeze next to the tracks that have no overhang or weather protection. When the station is open, ticket kiosk attendants are beyond efficient and kind. Vending machines only take cash and there is only one tourist souvenir store with overpriced goods and hours of operation not within train commuter return hours. I've only seen this station at night, but it didn't seem that pretty. This station is nice because it's close to Ventura if you live towards the Johnson side rather than the Downtown Ventura side. OTC forgets that they have a duty to the city of oxnard and that they have a presence on the roadways. There's absolutely no consideration for people on the roads. Trains are constantly blocking intersections near the OTC and I bet they have legitimate reasons but there's got to be better planning. People have jobs and families to get home to and it costs people money every time they block an intersection or sometimes they have the gift to block a couple at the same time. How do I get my $4.00 a gallon gas reimbursed every time I have to wait and watch the train literally move back and forth at a snail's pace. read more
