Don't forget there are discounts for students, military personnel, seniors, and groups. Parking is kind of weird at first. You drive as if you are going to park at the fairgrounds. If there is someone at the fairgrounds parking pay station, just let them know that you are driving through for Amtrak or just say Amtrak. I drive to the left to the exit. Then I park in the green and wait for my daughter or son to go or to arrive via train. The station is outside. Ventura has a mild climate so heat is rarely an issue. Sometimes the train is late. Yesterday, July 20th, they only announced that the southbound train was late. The northbound train was 55 minutes late. It wasn't announced. I recommend the train. I still want to master how to track the train online not via phone to check on train status.

We had fun, got a workout and that machine is larger and heavy. Yesterday we got the two person surrey and it was better for the two of us. It is so fun riding along the little beach roads, and having a roof keeps the sun off us. We at first wanted two hours, but one hour was just right. After an outstanding e-bike experience in Lake Tahoe (with Vista Trail Bikes) just a few weeks…read moreearlier, we decided to rent two e-bikes from Wheel Fun Rentals at the Ventura Pier. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst rental experiences I've ever had. The problems started before we even left. The bikes had to be swapped out due to mechanical and maintenance issues while we stood waiting. Once we received functioning bikes, there was no safety briefing, no route guidance, no discussion of local riding conditions, and no meaningful instructions beyond handing us the bikes. What was most alarming was the complete lack of concern for customer safety. My wife's seat had been adjusted too high. Within approximately ten feet of leaving the rental area, and in full view of three employees, she lost balance and fell directly onto the pavement. Not one employee came over to check on her, offer assistance, or ask if she was injured. Nothing. Despite this, my wife wanted to continue riding, so we attempted to salvage the experience. The bikes themselves were poorly maintained, and our confidence in the equipment and operation was gone almost immediately. My bike kept changing E levels throughout the short ride. We returned the bikes in less than two hours despite paying for a four-hour rental. When asked how our experience was, I honestly replied that it was terrible. The response? "That's too bad." No concern. No questions. No apology. No attempt to understand what went wrong. From the condition of the bikes to the lack of safety procedures, customer service, and basic human concern, this operation felt careless and unprofessional from top to bottom. I would never rent from this location again, and I certainly would not feel comfortable bringing children or inexperienced riders here. There are plenty of places to rent bikes. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend choosing one of them instead.

Just off the 101, right where Ventura seems to shake hands with Oxnard like two cousins pretending…read morenot to share a family resemblance, sits this bright, shiny, suspiciously new SpringHill Suites. The whole area around North Oxnard Boulevard feels so freshly built that Apple Maps, as of April 17, 2026-ish, still seems to think it's a dust bowl populated only by dirt, tumbleweeds, and the ghosts of future retail. But no--civilization has arrived. Hotels, shopping, restaurants, the whole polished commercial fantasia. Marriott, naturally, has planted its flag here with the confidence of an empire that knows exactly what it's doing. And I have to say: the freshness of this place is glorious. It has that "new car smell" energy. The entire hotel feels so clean and newly minted that even the bed bugs, should any someday dream of entering this kingdom, probably haven't yet formed a committee. Check-in was excellent. The staff were warm, efficient, and so smoothly professional that the process had all the friction of a swan gliding across a lake. No drama, no nonsense, no clerical purgatory. Just keys, smiles, and onward into temporary domestic bliss. The room itself was cozy but pleasantly spacious, with a microwave, a little couch nook, and the kind of layout that says, "Stay a while, eat something shameful out of a paper bag, contemplate your choices, then take a nap." Now for the one genuinely strange design decision: the television. In Room 301, at least, the TV is mounted to the left of the bed in a way that feels almost avant-garde, as though a minor European philosopher was consulted during installation. If you're lying in bed facing forward, hoping to gaze lovingly at the screen with your sweetheart while half-watching a Dodgers-Rockies game and half-negotiating the future of your relationship, you will instead find yourself staring at wall, bathroom door, and existential vacancy. The TV lurks off to the left like a side quest. This means the person on the left side of the bed has a tactical advantage, while the person on the right is essentially being asked to enjoy radio theater with light visuals. I could see perhaps 90% of the screen if I leaned awkwardly in my boxers toward the lamp like a man trying to receive coded wartime transmissions. A partner on the right side of the bed? She'd see even less, and quite reasonably conclude she had attached herself to a selfish barbarian unworthy of romance. That, friends, is how a hotel stay becomes a domestic symposium on bed ethics. The bathroom was narrow but perfectly functional. No cathedral, but no dungeon either. Shower pressure was solid, which is one of civilization's great overlooked mercies. Sleep quality was pretty good overall, though the pillows did not inspire religious devotion. They had more of that faintly itchy, polyester-adjacent feeling rather than the cool, cloudlike softness one hopes for when laying down one's weary skull after a long day of free-market wandering. Not catastrophic. Just not the kind of pillow that whispers sonnets to your neck. Noise was minimal. A few cars outside made themselves known, but nothing apocalyptic. I've heard louder meditations in yoga studios. Breakfast, however, was a minor triumph. Even with a crowd of half-awake guests shambling through in various stages of caffeine deprivation, the flow of people moved surprisingly well. No breakfast trench warfare. No waffle-related panic. The spread was strong: coffee, tea, juices, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, spinach egg bites, bagels, oatmeal, a waffle machine, and bacon so good it briefly restored my faith in the Republic. For a free hotel breakfast, this was not merely decent--it was bordering on magnanimous. Another big plus: the location. Parking was plentiful, the elevator was gratifyingly fast, and right outside is The Collection, a lively shopping and dining area with enough energy to make you feel like you've wandered into a cheerful little capitalist village. I especially recommend Lazy Dog across the street. Also worth noting: as of April 2026, there were many EV charging stations nearby that appeared to be free to use. If you have a Tesla, that is not a small thing. Going from 25% to 99% in about five hours while you sleep or roam is the kind of modern convenience that makes even the most jaded traveler nod silently in appreciation. So would I stay here again? Yes, absolutely. The staff were excellent, the property feels fresh and well-run, breakfast was strong, parking was easy, and the overall vibe was lively without being chaotic. I had a few gripes--the TV placement is a work of accidental surrealism, and the pillows won't be entering the Pillow Hall of Fame--but the virtues outweighed the vices by a comfortable margin. All told, this was a 4.75 out of 5 stay, and I'm rounding up to 5 because life is short, the bacon was excellent, and this hotel has earned the stars.

Checking in with Yomayra was easy. She was friendly and welcoming. This is a brand new hotel and only about 3-4 months old. The hallways still smell of new carpeting. I was surprised to see a large walk-in closet, which was wonderful. Stowing away my luggage was super convenient. It had a safe there too and a small office table. I really appreciated the sliding part on the desk that could separate the bedroom from the desk and sofa area. It was very roomy. Although, I believe I did book a 2-bedroom suite. There's plenty of storage space too. There's also a mini fridge and microwave, which I didn't need. I did like the table between the two beds because it was big unlike other hotels. There's also an additional chair by the window. The restroom was nice and clean. It was roomy and well-lit. The only thing I didn't like were the shower curtains - that's not a deal breaker but I prefer glass doors and a walk in shower as opposed to a tub-shower. There's also complimentary breakfast and a very roomy area to enjoy your breakfast. There are a couple TVs and I'm glad they put one TV showing a kids show (Bluey). The lobby entrance is clean and beautiful. They also have the newly opened Flora Loca Rooftop Cantina on the 5th floor. And there are other places to eat, drink, and shop that are drivable (The Collection, Target, etc. ) or walkable (Panda Express, Shake Shake, Handel's Homemade Ice Cream, etc). I also left a personal item here and drove back the following weekend to retrieve the item. If there's one thing I had to knock them down for, it's the bedding was itchy on my skin. It was sort of hard too. Maybe it's still new but I've bought new bedsheets before and they weren't itchy. That's all. Well, the shower curtains would be the second thing. Overall, I'm so glad I found this hotel to stay at so I could enjoy the rest of stay. I always enjoy a newish hotel. And I loved the customer service from Yomayra, CJ, Autumn and the other young lady I saw the weekend after.
