My son and I had a frustrating experience today trying to take his first train ride to Santa Barbara. We arrived early and saw on the monitor that our train was scheduled for Track 2. After crossing the bridge, an automated announcement confirmed the train would arrive on Track 2 in 10 minutes. However, it turns out the displays weren't updated, and the train was actually on Track 1. By the time I realized the error and sprinted with my son and his stroller to the other side, the train was already pulling away. We ended up driving to Santa Barbara. Later, I stopped by the train station there to inquire about the mix-up. An attendant acknowledged the issue and said they'd speak with their manager. When I returned two hours later, they confirmed it was a known problem and that they would work on a solution. Hopefully, next week, the track information will be accurate! read more

So easy and affordable to travel from VC to LA. Skipped the driving and traffic today for a work conference. Def will do it again. Round trip around $25 bucks. Took about 1.5 hours to make it to Union Station. Pay at kiosk. No Window or workers onsite that I saw. read more

WTF !!! going to santa barbara was great............... when we returned, we had to walk to get to the distant walkway to get over the tracks. such stupid planning !!!! had to walk a quarter mile to get to the car which was 45 yards away. what about seniors and kids ?? who ever designed this is a spender of NOT their money. When you're stuck in Oxnard for a month and a half and don't have a car, the Camaillo Metrolink Train Station is a godsend! The staff is very friendly and helpful if you need any information on how to get around and the rides are very pleasant. The fees are reasonable and the actual trains and trolleys are clean and well maintained. I had a really fun time exploring various places using the public transportation and feel that the scheduled times for pick-up and departure would increase if more people would use this valuable resource. On the plus side, you can take the train if you need to go into Los Angeles. read more

I need to go to Santa Barbara airport so I decided to take the train from Camarillo to Santa Barbara. And I'm really pleased with the high quality of the train ride super smooth the seats were very comfortable and reclining lots room almost comparable with first class on an airplane. $18 in one hour and 15 minutes so a reasonable charge in a reasonable amount of time. To add to a great experience the ticket man was dressed in a very smart uniform including a hat .,. He woke the passenger in front of me bc he fell asleep..... Before today, I would have given Amtrak a 5. The trains are cclean, the attendants are kind and helpful and it is a very enjoyable ride from Camarillo to San Diego. Today they crossed me.. So the Camarillo station, nothing spectacular... Its a 3. Very simply its a concrete slab with train tracks going through it next to Lewis road. Easy to get to from my house, no amenities, other than the Tony's pizza across the street, you use it to get on the train, simple as that... So today was a ringer.... Im waiting to get on the 784 @ 308 and the train is late... its always late.... I check the android app, it says its late 17 minutes... big deal... 30 minutes later, its still not here... and the app says 17 minutes late... ok, maybe the logic is lagging or something.... An HOUR later (4pm) its still not here, and the app still says its 17 minutes late which is roughly 40 minutes ago). So I call Amtrak and get the automated status, which states the train was last seen in Carpenteria at 339... That's 40 minutes away... so 339 + 40 minutes gets it to camarillo around 4:20... Nope.... So at 4:45 I call Amtrak and WAIT through their incessant hold music to talk to a human... I explain where I am, what time it is, and that there are 20 people here waiting for the 784.. She says hmm, that's odd whats going on and puts me on hold for 15 minutes. She comes back and says "that train isn't in service today" and the 790 will pick you up.... The 790 doesn't hit camarillo I tell her... She says it will tonight... WTF... With the app, the phone computer robot, a real person, and all the email notifications it claims to to use (which they don't), they can't get their crap together... So... Its now 508, im waiting for the 790 and I hope it stops... I HATE writing these 1's... I don't do them often but there are times where the system just breaks down and apparently nobody cares. read more

Still 2 stars. I was almost ready to bump it up to 3 because it's been on time getting me "home" for several evenings in a row. But then they, without notice or any sign of near-future resolution, ripped up and blocked off 1 of only 2 entrance/exits so now there's a traffic jam getting out of the parking lot in the evening. All 15 to 20 of us who commute from Camarillo to L.A., plus a couple of near-empty buses and shuttles, are trying to get out of the parking lot at the exact same time. POUR THE DAMN CONCRETE already and reopen the lanes!!! The end. read more

This is just a platform with a ticket machine... Super inconvenient if your train stops on the opposite side of the tracks on the way home... There is only a set of stairs on 1 side of the platform. So, you end up walking on this extensive walkway right next to the freeway for quite a while. I bring my daughter with me on the train from time to time... The walk is too long for her especially at 7:45pm.. They need to build a better walkway or at least a set of stairs on BOTH sides of the platform. read more

The redesigned Camarillo train station is actually nice. It's located in Old Town Camarillo which has received a face lift. Old Town Camarillo is the same old boring Camarillo, but with a face lift (think of the women in Thousand Oaks). This station is near some food and Palermo's coffee. I love Palermo's. This station has ample parking and free overnight parking. I have taken both Metrolink and Amtrak from this station. **Take the Metrolink to BUR (LAX too but I loathe LAX)!!! Been spending a lot of time in Ventura co, coming up from L.A. and thought the Metrolink would be a decent alternative than driving up the 101 in a gas-guzzling 6 cylindar car from 2005. At first I thought things were ok using Metrolink but then I had to deal w this place on weekends. Place was pretty clean compared to L.A. but not easily able to get my questions answered regarding destinations from Oxnard other than my usual trip back down south. I didn't notice any easy links to online FAQ sites, so maybe this is really just an MTA-wide system critiquem not just of Oxnard station. It's 2019, lets at least have free wifi and easy usability online MTA sites to be able find answers if I can't find an on-staff human. read more

Sad little station...no restrooms, no shop, no indoor waiting area, just a couple of benches under the freeway. Wretched little ticket machine that looks like it is from 1956 and no staff to answer questions, give directions or even just say hello. And in a college town no less! I believe many more people would take the train if service and amenities were stepped up. read more

At the Camarillo, CA station, there is a real problem. There is a huge communication problem - knowing which track the train will be arriving at. We have missed trains because it takes 10 minutes to get to the other side either over the pedestrian bridge or by car. We have seen others miss trains as well. We have met arriving passengers, who arrive at the other side, and we have to have them wait 10 minutes until we can get to the other side with the car. We have seen trains use either the track off of Mission Oaks or the Lewis Road side. If anyone knows the secret, please tell us! read more

It is a small station, with no roof except for the 101 - bridge that goes on the top of the track. My major complaint is that the automatic ticket machine is very weird. I tried to take a ticket the night before my travel, when I swiped my credit card it said that it is unable to process my card. So I used a cash to get the ticket. It gave me the change and a voucher (at first I thought it is a ticket). I had to go to Oxnard station to get the ticket (used the same voucher). But to my surprise when I see my credit card statement, I see a transaction for the ticket amount. Looks like the ticket vending machines are faulty, I had a hell amount of time in dealing with Amtrak to get refund for the credit card transaction. I enjoyed train journey very much, But next time I will not use ticket vending machine at Camarillo Station. read more

This works for me travelling Camarillo to LAX,PM Surf liner then the Flyway's bus at union station to LAX. Be early for the trip, buy your ticket on line or pay the conductor on the train. The ticket machines are unreliable on the platform there. Beats the bus shuttle services from this area to LAX, just read some of the reviews on them ! Train travel in Australia is very convenient and popular, easy to navigate your system here in Cal. read more

It's more of a "stop" than a "station." Buy your ticket online or with the Amtrak mobile app. They seem to run on schedule most of the time. People expecting a full blown station with staff aren't being realistic about the number of passengers getting on and off here. If it loses money they aren't going to do it. This is a business after all, so let's be glad it's here or one day it just may be a spot where you get to watch the train whiz by. read more

Took the train from Camarillo to Santa Barbara. Nice day trip. The station is a little sparse and void of directions especially if you're new to train travel. No restroom either but that's only a problem if your train is really late, I guess! read more

Who designed this? Yes, it looks "cute" with the old school type lights and what not, but what about when it rains? Oops! How about some coverage from the elements? Oops! WTF!? You'd think a station that is heavily used to by commuters from Camarillo would want a decent place to sit while they wait for the train instead of waiting by the side of the tracks and facing the elements. Compared to my normal San Diego Train station, this station is your standard "meh" station. Completely outdoors wih few benches to sit on. Try not to get to your train too early to avoid sweating in the sun. read more

In all honesty this place sucks! My daughter goes to the college near by. She rides her bike here and locks it up. She thought it would be safe here. Twice now someone has stolen parts from it! First time tried to cut her lock off and stold her lights that she needs because when she's out of school it's dark already. Now today 12-5-16 they took her bike seat. My daughter is trying to better herself and put herself though school. I was diagnosed with breast cancer her freshman year and have only been able to buy a bike for her to travel to school and now this too has been threatened to be taken away. Are there cameras here or any type of security? Please people watch out for each other her. She is such a beautiful soul. Helped return a fellow bus rider wallet with ID,social security and credit cards in just last month and this is the thanks in return. What a shame. what has happened to the human race? :-( read more
