Great food, host entertainment and atmosphere. We visited for the first time back in July. We will go back to this wonderful establishment. We (me and my girlfriend) from BC and AB, we had no expectations of what the night will be like. First of i must say the owner was not only a great leader to his team however a great host as we introduce ourselves. He was very welcoming to our needs as it was our last night there. Every year for the last 3 years I've visited Brampton to hang out with family and we always end up spending at least one night at Calypso Hut! The pepper shrimp is my go to and the wontons are yummy too. The mixed drinks are pretty tasty too but they can creep up on you. The owner Jerry is a blast, super nice guy and always friendly. SuperBLAZE is another amazing individual who works there too and the bartenders are great. The crowd could be hit or miss depending on the night and if an event is going on but regardless when I'm there I always enjoy myself. Just don't expect to hold any decent conversations because the music does get very loud. read more

Small, but pretty solid and inexpensive lunch buffet that I went to. I'm pretty sure the place is Chinese-Guyanese, so you get items like spring rolls, chow mein, but also curry chicken (I think curry goat at times too). The food isn't going to floor you, but it was very fresh and all the items are enjoyable. There's also the Chinese-takeout style chicken wings, and some really good hot sauces available. Overall, pretty good for a guilty-pleasure meal for lunch. read more

Hot hot hot. If you like spicy food. This is the place to be. We got the calamari and the shrimp lomein (it had a little too much soy sauce, caused the 4 stars). The staff was very friendly and attentive. Good music too! Will come back. read more

Today meal at calypso hut was such a disappointment I have noticed that everytime we buy food there it has been worse and worse but today was just terrible. I drove down to buy takeout from them and when I got home the chicken was all burnt! Who ever let people go with burn food should be fired seriously. Had a conference in the area, my friends and I went there for the for lunch and had to go back the next day because it was soooooo good! Pepper sauce is so flavourful not just hot! Went to this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Only 2 other patrons were in the restaurant. We ordered a beef fried rice, special mixed lo mein and an order of chicken wings. Beef fried rice: This dish was okay, nothing special. Flavour was good, but I've had better. Special mixed lo-mein: Awful. It was too saucy and extremely salty. It was supposed to have chicken, beef, shrimp and mixed vegetables. We got a pound of noodles, a couple of pieces of chicken, beef and shrimp with two pieces of broccoli. Very disappointing. Chicken wings: I must admit, this was the best dish we ordered. The wings were hot and tasty. Perfectly cooked. Would definitely order these again. We were visiting from NYC and came here tonight to hang and have a good time . The guy at the front door doing pat downs said 20 dollars for the guys and 10 for the ladies . We said no way ! Like come on , it's just a basic place . Then he said 15 dollars for the guys and 10 dollars for the girls . We started to walk away , and he lowered the price further . So we went inside to pay and was really turned off when another guy sitting at the table in front of the door (wearing a grey t- shirt) wanted to charge us more than the guy outside said . He said "that guy doesn't run the business" .... so your employee is a liar !! And he said in the worst tone possible . His whole attitude was unwelcoming and entitled . Like he is doing us a favor . They are plenty other places with nice staff that I would rather spend my money . We still went in because my cousins were already inside . Also asked for extra hot sauce, she said extra charge. Yesterday we went to the same place, same take out order they gave us 5 plates and extra 4 hot sauce. Our family hits up Calypso Hut when visiting our cousins in Brampton. We have always ordered takeout and this was our (and the cousin too) time to actually eat at the CH. Coming from Nebraska we don't have many options for West Indian food unless we cook it at home. I just wanted some veggie fried rice. This is nothing like what you get in Nebraska. Our table ordered banga. Was gone in a flash. We had veggie fried rice, veggie chow mein, veggie lo mein and chicken in the ruff with chow mein. Food tastes pretty close to what the aunties make when we visit. We were bummed that they were out of curry potato and roti. But that's what you have to expect when you go for lunch at 3 pm. After multiple take out meals it was nice to finally get the hot fresh meal straight from the kitchen. Oh and the waitress was personable and cracked me up when she called my cousin bougie for ordering a glass for his Moosehead. If you are visiting the GTA, take time to head to Brampton and check out the Hut. read more

I don't know what Calypso Hut puts in their BBQ Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice but it must be crack! I'm addicted. I just bought some last night and I've eaten it for dinner, midnight snack, breakfast, lunch and dinner again. I have been eating at Calypso Hut for years and have never been disappointed. Every dinner I have at home I order the food, put it in my dishes and throw out the foil pan and try to take credit for it. But people who have eaten it before know where it came from. It is as if the flavour is signature. The customer service could be much better but if I had to choose between good food and good service... I'll take the food. The service is much better than Sunrise but that's. It saying much because Sunrise has he worst customer service. read more
