I'm so annoyed they are closed today, which is supposed to be open because it's Saturday. I'm just not understanding why it's closed because it's still hot in FLORIDA. I would understand if it was closed during the months of November - January because it's cold but it's hot now!!! They need to update the internet and website to say it's closed during the weekend, too. They claim to be open during the weekend, which isn't true!! This is a small water park located in Royal Palm Park in Margate. The park has a playground, fishing dock, picnic tables, and half basketball court. The water park is $4 for Margate residents and $7 for non residents. It has two 30 foot water slides, a lap pool, and an aquatic playground. You must be 48" tall to use the slides and they will measure children before they go in. The city of Margate uses the pool to give swim lessons. There is a concession stand to purchase snacks. Due to the small nature of the park it gets packed very easily, by camps during the week and families on the weekends. I used to come here quite a bit with my daughter and her friends when she was younger. I got an ear infection from the pool one summer and I stopped coming. Fortunately by the time she had outgrown it and we moved on to the larger water park in Boca Raton. With so many people packed into a tiny amount of water it is hard to keep it hygienic. The size of the park and amenities makes it best suited for elementary school aged children. Children older than that would get bored pretty quickly. I was at the park with a group of kids getting swim lessons. I applaud Margate for offering this life saving skill. Two brothers in my community recently drown and these kind of lessons can prevent a tragedy. If you are paying to use the park just be aware that it does get quite crowded, especially in the summer months. read more

We visited Calypso Cove for s Birthday party. The party room is great for a kids party with plenty of tables, small kitchen area, and an entrance from the front as well as the park side. There is also a playground out front, but beware, it is based in fine white sand. The small water park includes a lap pool, kiddie playground, and 2 decent slides suitable for kids 48" and taller. There are plenty of umbrellas covered tables, sitting areas, and concession stand. There are locker rooms with showers and changing areas. Storms stopped our party in the park area, but we continued inside. Hey, it is South Florida after all. My only issue, is that they closed down the locker rooms (bathrooms) before the party even ended. The workers had everything hosed down and closed up. We paid a minimal fee since we were a part of a party, but it did appear they offered rain passes. Overall, it is a nice community facility, but older kids may get bored. Watch the weather and go on a lazy sunny day! I'll probably revisit and will update. read more

Another government entity paid for with tax dollars that cannot follow its own posted hours of service. A 15-20 minute wait after payment and opening hour for public access due to late swimming lessons. Most swim lessons appear to be from outside instructors and should be held to specific rules and time. Pools did not open until after 1015am. Schedule 10am. There was no Administrator in office this morning and a gentlemen with a cooler arrived LATE and failed to get things moving immediately also. It's a nice local pool with two water slides. It appears lifeguarded well and they move shifts often. Overall a nice facility that needs proper management and formal controls. read more

Terrible place.... splash pad was not working properly, none of the water was running , said they are putting a new one or fixing it soon(they should tell you before you pay and go inside)....paid full price for 2 adults and 2 kids but one could not go on the same slides he has been going on since he was 3 years old because they changed the height from 42 to 48 inches(he is 47.5).... pool is filthy! lifeguards blowing the whistle every two minutes, gave us a huge headache...strange man with butt crack showing in his 20s running around and yelling none sense at the kids, hitting the wall, very uncomfortable for my kids....left after 45 minutes...kids were bored. please stay away from this place, Coconut Cove in West Boca is 100 times nicer! read more

It's nice and clean and the concession stand is not too bad. The only comment I have is that the shallow kid pool is ice cold. Not so great for my baby and toddler to play and even if it's hot outside. Management says they don't keep this pool. read more

Always a blast here. You'll never go wrong with this water park. They also have a park and baseball court on the side with access to a lake.

$4 for residents, $7 for residents.. GREAT price for the hours of fun you can get from it. Pool and bathrooms are all kept really clean. There are giant umbrellas are set up to give a good amount of shade to the lounge chairs. Plenty of lifeguards watching the pool areas. And there is a concession stand to buy snacks. One area consists of a park-like playground in a couple feet of water (my fave), another section has to big water slides that go into a deep pool (not for swimming) and u must be at least 48" tall to ride, the third area is a regular lap pool, with areas for free play or lap swimming. Only problem I have with calypso cove is that it isnt open longer through out the year. Its florida and by definition is HOT out more than i would like. Shouldnt a perk of living in florida be that i can go to a water park in November if i wanted to? Id totally take off half a star if i could for that.. Lol. read more

Dirty,dirty, dirty. They had just opened and the water was FILTHY. Do they not own a net to get the crap out of the water? I was in the kiddy area with my child and it was just not enjoyable at all with all the stuff floating around. Within 5mins of being in the water I stepped on something that went inside my foot, had to get a bandaid. Still almost a week later I still can't get that splinter out. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I would like to start off by mentioning things that were wrong from the start before I even get to the real problem. The kids play area had caution tape wrapped around a few poles so they could still operate and make money while ensuring "safety." The lifeguards didn't care what the kids did as long as they moved out of the way of the slide. There was running and older kids sitting in the tube not allowing other kids to get through, kids climbing all over the equipment dangerously. etc. My son is Autistic, 5 years old, born with low upper muscle tone and can swim pretty well. So he was given a bracelet to be allowed on the big slides. Because the only requirements were if the kid could swim and if they were 42 inches, which he fit both of those requirements. When I spoke to three different lifeguards about my son possibly being unable to push himself up from the extremely strong current of the slide, they had no problem with me going down first and helping him up if he needed and for the most part he used all his strength to do so. We were at the park for about an hour and a half in the kid area before taking my son over to the big slides. When the slides shot him out, and the current pulled him under, after a few times he became a little weak and started needing more help to get out. Which no one had a problem with, until one life guard decided that it was no longer ok. So I was told he was no longer allowed on the slides. The only reason his energy started to decline is because of how long we were already there and the fact that he had gone on the slides a few times already. But as "safety issue" even from the beginning he was suppose to do it himself. Even the first time he went down the slide, because of his autism I would not have felt comfortable letting him stay in the pool by himself low muscle tone or not. Which at first they were accommodating. They only let one person at a time go down the slide and the kids had to get out of the water before letting anyone else down. However during the five times my son went down the slide before it was a problem, there was kids who couldn't make it to the end of the pool swimming and had to get out of the side or the lifeguard had to save a few kids no problem and even et those kids continue to go again and again. But then all of a sudden t was a problem that I couldn't wait for my son? No that wasn't the problem, because according to the supervisor I could do that. But it was because he couldn't swim to the end of the pool after being pushed out and pushed down to the bottom of the water. I would have totally understood if my son had normal upper body strength, but he is autistic and was born with low upper body muscle tone. He physically cant help it and even if he was eight he still would not be able to do so . So if the problem wasn't me being in the pool, then it was the way he was born with his muscle tone which is unacceptable and segregating him because he's not normal. Safety issue or not on a child not being able to swim, but me being allowed in the pool? So why cant I help my autistic son out of the pool so he can have fun too like all the other kids ? I was extremely disappointed in how it was all handled and instead of understanding it didn't matter. The supervisor was like show me he can swim after we had been there two hours and he had already used all his strength the five times he had gone down. Because the point wasn't that I couldn't help him up from the current but then I couldn't help him to the edge two feet away??? On top of it all the supervisor came out as I was leaving to let me know a sign is posted about them knowing how to swim at the beginning of the slide but no where else because that's all that is required of them to do . And again it wasn't that he couldn't swim. I was extremely disappointed in my experience there and would advise any parent with a kid with autism that is NOT completely NORMAL and full self sufficient to waste their money going to this place. read more

Great for the kids it was at capacity on a Saturday and they did parent check felt like every hour which was great. Doesn't have a lazy river. Parking was no problem. They also have pavilion that can be rented for events. Wasn't enough seating. read more

This was a horrible experience so bad we left after an hour. My family and I are not residents so we paid full price which was 50$. I understand that it is summer and there are summer camps going but the staff was not very attentive. Kids pushing and the staff doing nothing. It does not say on the website about bringing your only floaties so we brought our son is a good swimmer but his floaties give him his extra confidence just in case. The life guard told me that if we have to step in we have to take his wrist band I'm sorry but the current is a little scary when your 6 years old so what you had to push him less then a foot!!! This is a great place to go with family and friends. Not so big but you are spoiled with the many umbrellas and lounge chairs that are all complimentary already laid out for your use and if they are available then they are yours .Park yields 2 slides that are pretty neat and fast. Not sure if they serve food but the great thing is they let you bring food in and that is fantastic . There is nothing like going somewhere being well prepared and we were absolutely that. Price is only $7 for non residence and for that park it was a steal of a deal. Lots of shade and a super nice crowd made our time here a blast. Will definitely visit again as this is my cup of tea so I will take a sip. read more

Really horrible experience, did not even get to enjoy it!! Their 48 inch ruler is a lot taller than the tape measure I had and the one at the doctors office. When my daughter measured 48.5 inches during her well check 10 months ago and she only measures at 47.5 according to them you know something is wrong!! We are from TX and my daughter has a season pass to Hawaiian Falls and their slides are bigger than this place, also she has been on almost everything at slitterbahan. read more
