What a lovely little park, hidden in Tamarac! I had driven by here a few times and was never able to stop. Today I made a special trip here for my hot bun walk. It was such a beautiful park! From the splash pad for kids, covered gym equipment & playground, two docks AND a stage area! I saw a bunch of wildlife. The park was maintained and just had a wonderful vibe to it. I'll make my way there as an extra push for myself!

Caporella Park in Tamarac is 9.29 acres. It is named for the Caporella family that donated the land in 1979 for the park that was developed in 1996. The family also donated a 5 acre tract of land that was developed into an aquatic center in the town in 2007. Park amenities include picnic tables, grills, benches, lake, fishing pier, half mile exercise path, covered playground, a shelter than can hold up to 25 people, and restrooms. D.W. Recreation Firm is the company that designed the playground. I love how they incorporated elements of the birds and wildlife of the Everglades into the design of the fence surrounding the playground. The bridge and fishing pier also contain the Everglades design elements. I came to the park to get exercise after a recent rain in the evening. I loved the half mile exercise path that ran around the perimeter of the lake. The path crosses over a bridge behind a gas station before the path returns back into the park. It is a great place to see birds and take pictures. While getting exercise I took a couple nice shots of a rainbow and the sunset. Finding this park was a very nice discovery.

So glad some friends told us about this place awhile back when we were talking about places to take the grandkids in the future. But even if you're just a kid at heart, You may want to visit here. Wear your bathing suit. It's easy to find. And there's ample free parking out front. Mid week when we stopped by it wasn't very busy. But if I had kids, I'd be here every weekend -- especially in our recent hot weather. First and foremost is the interactive water/splash pad. So many machines spraying water, buckets dumping, etc etc. The three kids there were squealing with joy and excitement. Such fun. There's also a story walk/trail for children with various stops plus a regular walking trail. A covered playground with equipment for kids. A Volleyball sand court; basketball court; grills; picnic areas... all with a large swath of green grass in the middle -- perfect for events/concerts. On the south end is the canal C-14 with a fishing pier. More "waters edge" as in the name. And also for adults, there's a covered area right near the water with all sorts of gym/exercise equipment. Don't know what more you could want except maybe a few more resting benches along the main trail for the older folks... Go check it out. Bring the kids.

Featured at the entrance are children's water fountains and refreshing jets of water! Fitness equipment, a short fishing pier, picnic grills and other amenities abound in this beautiful and well maintained park.
