    Excited to be dropped off

Initially this was not my first choice to go to because the reviews compared to others. So I went to another business that's supposed to be "positive." Unfortunately, they were so fearful of my dog because of his breed. Never really gave him a chance. Being an American Bully, I knew the risk but he comes from a house full of people and kids. So I went on a search and finally took him here. Let me tell you, Robert and Jerel were great! We told them our fears and he said we will work with him and he's just a dog. 4 days with them and they mentioned so much positives and loved that he was a love bug. He's not perfect because he's still socializing and they mentioned things he's working on but also the fault of the other dogs. But he's back there again for another weekend and I'm glad we have a place that's decently priced and reasonable with the hours. Most of all a place where we feel he's in good hands.

I am shocked that the review I made a few years ago has been taken down. This place is DANGEROUS. We left our dogs here while we went on a road trip (Doberman and chihuahua mix) and we came back to two very sick dogs. Our Doberman had lost about 10 lbs and was completely out of it when we picked him up, would even look us in the eye. Our little guy had been bitten and it had become completely infected, so we had to take him to the vet to get it cleaned, the picture attached is the hole on his back from this. Please don't take your dogs here. It simply isn't safe.

    Excited to go.

In most cases the saying, "You get what you pay for" is true. However, not in this case. You cannot beat what they offer for the price! I have been taking my dogs to Calvin's for three years and have been very happy, never a complaint. More importantly my dogs are happy. They are excited to go, and tired when they come home. They even have their dog friends there. Calvin's treats my dogs like family. One of my dogs doesn't like a lot of males, yet he is so excited to see all of the employees there. They truly know my dogs and treat them like I would.

Can you believe this was a slow day?

I wish I could give them more than five stars. Robert (owner) is a dog saver/lover and is great he loves dogs so much he named the place after his beloved dog (Calvin-so sweet) his crew is wonderful as well, I like that they are young adults that have the energy and youth to deal with big pacts of dogs & puppies alike- they seem to enjoy their job while staying on top of it. The place is cleaner then any daycare I've been to in the Puget Sound.. It is definitely not one of those places you can smell the odor when you step into the space. They also have the most flexible prices and hours then any other daycare- 4am-9pm And if you think you'll be later they'll sometimes work with you....waaaaaay cool Theres been times when Ive left my Dubbys a few days or more n they are so cool they throw in a bath or clip his nails, and dont charge me for this and that. They are flexible and work with you when it comes to their pricing with regular customers...I dont know if its cause we've been going here for years and we're grandfathered in?? but I mosdef feel appreciated when a place recognizes a loyal customer and hooks ya up sometimes! Calvins place has many regular clients and they are always jam packed so their is never a dull moment for your pooch, yet they are healthy and safe screening each and every client for the basics and beyond. When we initially brought our baby here they asked for proof of shots they definitely cover that thoroughly. I normally do daycare but they also board, either way you Have the option to keep your dog kenneled or play amongst the other dogs Separated in sections Based on size and age-if You're anything like me and want him to play all day with the other dogs nonstop Your pup Will get a ton of interaction and Exercise. When he gets home He sleeps for 2 days hes so burnt! My dubz is definitely in love with this place when we get about 2 blocks from it he starts whining and shaking with excitement, don't even have to walk him to the door-he jumps out of the car and runs straight for the door....he loves it so much we can't even use the word "Daycare" cause he will get so excited we have to say "D.C." It is a great place for any shy/young/insecure pup to learn from other dogs and to be social with other dogs. I got my dog at an extremely young age and he learned most of all his doggie manners at Calvins place. They are the best around been coming for years now and my baby puppy and I absolutely love it.

Bast is a 75 pound mix who loves going to see Robert and his friends at Calvin's Place. He was timid and shy with other dogs and going in general when we started bringing him 8 months ago, which makes sense because it was a whole new place to him. Over a couple months and several trips, he started to love going and now he will jump out of the car and run to the door for someone to open it for him. I've read a lot of reviews that talked about dogs having issues when they came home. Firstly, you just put your dog under stress by boarding them somewhere completely new to them. Of course they will have bowel issues because they probably didn't eat much while they were there, and then they got home and gorged. Stress will do that to dogs, and as a dog owner you should know that even the slightest change in some dog's routines will set off their GI tract. Secondly, your dog is around other dogs - you should expect that it is the same if you were to go to a dog park. They will play, and sometimes it's rough. Thirdly, not all vaccinations cover all the bases, especially when your dog may have the live virus or another dog has it from getting their shots. Sorry, but like at a dog park it isn't controlled. Finally, in the paperwork you sign, it says to not bring personal items for the dogs other than food - it helps keep areas cleaner and the dogs probably shouldn't have toys/beds of their own to get protective over. The dogs are treated well and have lots of interaction with the care team there. The other day I walked in and looked for one of them and up pops one of the younger gentleman from the floor in the middle of a pack of dogs. He'd been on the floor playing with them. If you are worried about your dog coming here, you don't own a dog - you have a "special pet" who would do better with an in home sitter.

My big dog has been here for daycare and overnight boarding. Hardest thing leaving a loved one with big brown sad eyes but I knew he'd be well looked after! Thank you to this business and the staff

Bossy is my brother's 6 month old pup weighing in at 53lbs and growing. She is such a sweetheart but FULL of energy and she hasn't realized her size yet. We have w older lap dogs that refuse to play with her once she hit 30lbs. My cousin recommended Calvin's (hes been taking his pup there too) so I tried it out this past weekend for a few hours. Thanks to Calvin's...I had a peaceful Saturday night. First time in months lol. I decided to take her back today for New Year's Eve and she went straight to the door and walked in and Greeted the friendly employees. It was 6am snd she was ready to go play once she realized where she was. Thank you to Riley and Robert for making our 1st experience smooth and awesome. This is a photo of Miss Bossy after 5 hours at Calvin's lol...

I am only giving this one star because zero isn't an option. I brought my dog to this location for five days. In five days he lost 15 pounds. When returned to me he was bleeding from his leg, face and mouth. He had scratches and cuts all over his face. A day later his face became swollen and when I brought him to the vet they stated it was likely caused from a dog bite. When I called Calvin's Place to ask what happened they denied any wrong doing. They said my dog hadn't been in any fights or was aggressive at all. They have clearly neglected my dog. Whatever you do please do not bring your dog here if you care about them.

We're very lucky to find this pet boarding establishment. Robert and his entire staff are very kind and nice and they always take good care of our pets. They treat them like family members!! Even if our schedule prevents us from making a reservation, they always understand and are accommodating. They always make us feel welcomed. This is an indispensable place for all our family pets. We are always grateful to them taking care of our family member pets.

This is my dog Diezel with drawn on eyebrows lol

My little mutt was rescued from a shelter and seemed to be abused in her previous life. She is so sweet with us, but unless you are in her circle (which consists of myself, my husband, and my brother-in-law who lives with us), she will growl and bark at you if she catches you even glancing at her. That being said, she LOVES Happy Dog South Sound! Having never boarded my dogs, I had no idea what to expect, but the staff is so incredibly nice, patient, and helpful! I must have called a dozen times before we dropped our dogs off the first time, and then even AFTER the first time for follow-up questions. I am positive that they have caller-ID because when I called after their first visit, they referred to some details that made me think that they knew who I was. Even then, they were so pleasant to work with! NEWCOMERS: How it works is you need to call and schedule a day to take your pup or pups there for an initial "meet and greet." They can only do the meet and greets Monday-Friday when a manager is present, so be prepared for that. Depending on their availability, they can probably take you the next day. I had two dogs and travel for work, so I made the "reservation" a week in advance. You can drop your pup off between 7am and 9am and then pick them up starting at 3pm to I think 7pm. When you arrive in the morning, they will have you fill out some paperwork, and when you are done, they'll take your pup(s) inside and that's it! When you go to pick up your pup(s), they will tell you if your pup(s) passed or not. If so, then you will receive an email to register for their reservation site called Gingr. The site is easy to use! We've since dropped our dogs off for daycare again, and they brought out a credit card machine when I picked up my dogs, so make sure you have your card with you when you go up to the door! The meet and greet is free, so you won't experience this the first time you go.

NO WAY am I willing to leave these dogs in the care of a sitter or a family member as this would not be responsible not only to my dogs, but to the public as well. I first heard about Country Kennels from my trainer and later from a K9 handler from a local PD unit. I was THRILLED to learn that they have "hands off" options in high secured, indoor/outdoor kennel spaces available for high drive and working dogs that are not easily handled by strangers. For the first time in a few years, my husband and I were not only able to take a vacation, but we were able to go somewhere without having to load the dogs up and take them along.
