They have a baseball field open to first come first serve although on Sunday its seems the adults own the field. A blacktop walking trail surrounds the grassy multi-use playing field. The kiddie park near the entrance is large and has sufficient parking.

When it opened…read moreit was the first park near Weston and Bonaventure, paid for with city money, The park was named in honor of Oscar Wind, the developer who donated the land in 1983 when the city annexed the area. In 1993, six more acres were added to the park as was a new softball field, a soccer/football field and a new park shelter. Today the park is looking better than ever. A new playground and outdoor fitness court were unveiled last month which increased the fitness and play options in the City of Sunrise. The new playground is ADA accessible with a wheelchair entry. It now has more than a dozen play structures including slides, swings, climbers, and a merry go round. Elements were added to foster learning, inspire music, and provide tactile games. The playground is covered in shade canopies and new seating and landscaping were added. Also brand new at Oscar Wind Park is the first Fitness Court in the city and it is also shade covered like the playground. The Fitness Court has an app on the side that teaches you how to use it. You do a circuit of exercises using your own body weight in order to condition and strengthen during work outs. It can be modified for all fitness levels. Additional park features included an open green space with a new 1/2 mile walking path, new landscaping, renovations to the restroom and picnic pavilion, and new LED lighting. My favorite improvement is that there is now a connecting walkway between Oscar Wind Park and Sawgrass Sanctuary Park. I like that you can do a really long walking circuit around both parks and never have to go into the road. The two parks blend together seamlessly. With the new additions to Oscar Wind Park, I think this is the best place in the city to enjoy nature, take the kids to play, and exercise.

Deicke Park opened on October 10, 1993. It was named in honor of Plantation pioneer Edwin F…read more Deicke. Deicke was a philanthropist who gave money to people and organizations in need in Illinois where he grew up, and Broward County, where he and his wife Lois built a home in Plantation in 1961. As a young man he wasn't able to afford to go to college but he became successful in the insurance business eventually becoming president of the country's oldest insurance company. He amassed a fortune and used it to help others before he retired to Florida. In Plantation some of the beneficiaries of his generosity were students at Plantation and South Plantation High Schools who received scholarships to go to college. Edwin F. Deicke passed away after a long illness in 1984. His wife Lois continued to give money to the causes they supported after his death. Deicke Park is a tranquil neighborhood park. It has a half-mile jogging trail with exercise equipment designed for use by the general public and people who are physically challenged. Other park amenities include two hard court tennis courts, a sand volleyball pit, a basketball court, picnic tables and open play areas. There is also a shaded playground for toddlers and older children. The park pavilion can be rented for parties, picnics and family gatherings. Restrooms are open only during the day. Although I enjoyed the exercise path, my favorite part of the park was discovering the nests of burrowing owls near the sand volleyball court. Burrowing owls are considered endangered, threatened or of special concern in nine U.S. states. Unlike other owls, they are not strictly nocturnal and are active during the day. They make their nests in underground burrows, which are dug out by ground squirrels and they prefer open grasslands. They are pretty timid and will pop back into their burrows if you approach but I managed to catch sight of one little fellow. The park was very busy during my visit. People were walking on the exercise path, playing volleyball, basketball, and tennis, and watching their kids play on the playground. Deicke is a great recreational resource for the Plantation community. Come visit Deicke Park anytime from dawn to dusk.

This park has everything you could ask for in a neighborhood park; wide open spaces for soccer or football practice, a nice, often shady, path for walking, biking, or jogging, 2 tennis courts, a volleyball area, a covered pavilion, and a playground. (Right now the playground is closed off & the picnic tables under the pavilion have been removed because of the pandemic.). There's still plenty of reasons to go to this cute, little neighborhood park and spend some time outdoors!

I loved the design of the new playgrounds. There is one for toddlers and one for bigger kids and then a separate area of swings for all abilities. The playground has a soft deck so the little ones can crawl or stay somewhat clean from sand and mulch. The playgrounds also are covered with a sunshade tarp. Next to the playground and parking area, there is bathrooms and a field house (concession stand) plenty of seating to watch soccer games or practices for the parents. The turf field is so nice and all of the practice fields are in great shape. I also liked that there was a paved sidewalk trail around the entire park to enjoy a walk in the fresh air

Beyond that, I'm not sure what other park amenities are available. The newly designed event space, however, is excellent. It's absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light while still being comfortably air conditioned. There's a storage room stocked with both round and rectangular tables and chairs for events. The venue also has separate men's and women's restrooms, each with multiple stalls. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped with a large double-door refrigerator, a second full-size refrigerator, a commercial-style oven with multiple racks, an ice machine, plenty of counter space, and a large three-compartment sink. (I forgot to take photos of the kitchen.) We rented this space for a baby shower, and it was perfect. Just keep in mind that you'll need to handle your own setup and cleanup, including taking out the trash. The staff was friendly, communicative, and easy to work with throughout the process. I would definitely recommend this venue!

Also noticed a small murky canal on the far west side with a posted beware of alligators sign - so no fishing or swimming. Also I would not bring your dogs to this park plus they are prohibited anyways. A small portion of the grass area is burnt but enough fresh green grass to play frisbee. Most of the park is well kept. There is kiddie monkey bars and a few picnic tables but no covered pavilions except for alot of large tree shade. No parking anywhere at the park so good luck with finding a legit spot.
