One of the first things I do when I move to a new city is look for a good massage therapist. I hit the jackpot when I tried Shawndreika at Calming Massage. I have been going to her for about a year and a half and have never looked elsewhere. She offers everything I look for: Dark, quiet, nice aroma, peaceful music, and most importantly skilled technique. I sit at a computer all day and it takes its toll on my back. Shawna asks me where to concentrate and then works out the stiffness in the specific spots along with an overall therapeutic massage. If you want to chat, she chats. This was TERRIBLE! Accused me of calling her for a "booty call"! I bought a Groupon at ~8pm after a hard workout (I am a professional strongman) and called her to book an appointment for as soon as possible. Just like with my other medical professionals, like my chiropractor, I left a detailed voicemail and contact info in hopes of a return call the next morning. The next morning I got a text message accusing me of calling her for a "booty call" and telling me leaving a voicemail was inappropriate. She then refused to answer the next text and any calls. I had to play email tag to get a refund from Groupon. This is the most unprofessional business I have seen. The number on her site is the only number to call to book an appointment. I am appalled by her conduct and based on this conduct I would not trust my money or dare I say my body in the hands of someone like this. read more

I've went to other massage places in Cali and some here in Fl. Came out feeling eh alright in all of them. Then I came across this one on Groupon since ya girl been wanting a massage. Never have I ever felt this good walking out a massage place. Damn. Thank YOU, Shawndreika!! I'm already recommending this place to ppl because that's just how great I feel right now. She's very nice & I loved how she targeted on one spot for a good amount of time where I was hurting most (my neck). Plus I work long hours standing up and I deal with a lot of difficult customers all day so this massage really helped me released a ton of tension I had. Arriving at Calming Massage looking around the room at the warm and welcoming environment. Shawna and I had a short conversation on areas of concern such as neck or back pains. For me relaxation, so I believed. While receiving my 90 minute massage from Shawna. I did not realized that I was so tensed. With the room aroma, soft music, conversation and her magical hands. I have been to Calming Massage several times. First for the massage /c scrub which I bought on Groupon. I am a typical Groupon shopper - buy the cheap stuff and don't return. This time it was a 'real' return because the massage is so awesome. I always get a 90 minute massage when possible as I find /w a 60 minute massage, I don't enjoy it as I should because I'm always thinking it will be over too soon. :)) I am a retired nurse /w lots of back problems, arthritis, lumbar stenosis and Fibromyalgia so oftentimes I find massage painful but Shawna is very mindful of this and I really appreciate that. I am committed to trying this massage every other week to see if routine massage makes a noted difference. The only downside is it is a little hard to find the FIRST time but so worth it. On Beach Blvd just East of 95 on the left behind Dunkin Donuts. The massage room is quiet and peaceful and has a heated table which I love. You will not be disappointed! read more

I have been seeing Shawna on a weekly basis for several months now. I have chronic back and neck pain and require regular deep tissue message to keep the pain at bay. Shawna is so good that I travel over an hour from Amelia Island to her Beach Blvd location because she is THAT GOOD! She never makes me feel rushed. She is incredibly accommodating with her schedule to make sure I get in to see her when it is convenient for me. She listens to me so that I can direct her in the areas that need the most attention. And in addition to all of the aforementioned attributes, her prices are unheard of. She offers a package that if you purchase 2 massages...the 3rd one is FREE. ***Yes, you DID read that correctly*** Who else offers that? And her hourly rates are already extremely reasonable.
