He showed…read morefor all trainings, he was always in communication and he clearly had experience training dogs - but also he never had the tools need after saying he would bring stuff and other things of that nature. The moment I paid in full, everything changed. Appointments were canceled or no-show and there were always these very WILD explanations (see relatable examples from prior reviews). At one point after many cancellations, Dashawn fully ghosted me for several months with zero communication. Dashawn reached out to me at the end of the year, a few months after my original Yelp post. After a few discussions which included an explanation, an apology, a reset of expectations, and an agreement on a second chance, we moved forward at the top of the year. For a few weeks, he was consistent, proactive, provided timely communication and my dog was making progress. Update. We went well for a few weeks - by March 2023, all appointments were cancel or no show. He told me to schedule direction via text versus using the booking too, for which he never responded to the texts for scheduling. We missed four straight sessions before I gave up. Explanations were everything from "text stuck in send", "dog at emergency vet" to next following week " dog caught in bear trap". It's too much. He ALWAYS has an excuse and will make up reasons for all the negative reviews. Pure SCAM ARTIST.

Listen, I'm not sure where to start because there's so much I want to cover regarding OLK9's Day…read moreCamp Program. First things first, Craig [Martin] is a Rockstar trainer. Period. Our very first interaction was great...his energy was wonderful...he did not disappoint! He was very methodical with his approach...explaining every step of the process...very engaging...constant updates of the Boyz progress...videos, photos...wait! The photos that I received were Ahhhhhhh-mazing, I mean impressive...only to learn that he's a photographer as well...but I digress. The Boyz are spoiled and I have no shame in stating this...*smile*. But they needed to learn manners. I have two large and very strong Standard Poodles - Mr. Brown and Max. They're extremely smart, pretty obedient in the house, but a huge challenge on walks...my poor dog walker. I wanted to be able to take them anywhere without the extended conversations of sit, stay, what are you doing? you know better... etc. At any rate, I'd been following OLK9 Maryland for some time online. I knew that training for two dogs was going to be a budget buster. Thankfully, I was able to take advantage of the "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" (can't remember which one it was). I cannot say enough about the great experience I had...the Boyz were happy to see Craig each day which was a HUGE relief for me. Yes, additional work/training on my part is required...to me that's a no brainer. As a responsible pet owner, I want to make sure that there is consistency and an expectation that my Boyz are well behaved and well mannered. Which means I have to do the work. Funny, as I was driving home from our final session, I was so tempted to take them on a short walk because I knew it would be enjoyable. But decided to wait until morning... I'm so excited to be able to have an enjoyable walk with these guys... less scolding and more bonding. Well worth the time and financial commitment. Thank you OLK9 Maryland for bringing additional joy to our home... things are definitely more "manageable". I'm really looking forward to our walks, especially since there will be NO more pulling! Can't wait to be able to take them to the "brick and mortar" with me once it's open! "Life Changing K9 Training"

I wasted over $1,000 to unknowingly abuse my dog through Off Leash K9. I sought help because my dog…read morewas reactive toward other dogs, loud vehicles, and people. I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

If I could give this company less than a one star rating, I would. George first came to my house to…read morediscuss my dog's training and we set up a boarding regime before he left and didn't even ask once to meet or see my dog ahead of time, which concerned me from the beginning. A dog lover would want to meet a dog who was going to be staying with him ahead of time. George Leonard told me specifically that training was $100/night. Never once did George inform me that I was agreeing to 5 consecutive days when I paid him $500 up front. Therefore, when I asked if it would be okay to pickup Oliver after two days of training due to my busy work schedule, and George agreed, never did he mention that I would ultimately be losing the last $300 I sent him ahead of time. I asked if it was okay to pick him up, had he told me I would be losing the rest of Oliver's training I never would have picked him up. I figured, at the time, George would let me know his schedule (like we agreed he would do in person) and I could bring Ollie back to finish his training. When I emailed George a few days later to set up another training for Oliver (in which I had already paid in advance) he sent me an extremely rude email saying that I had lost my opportunity and if I'd like Oliver to be trained, I would have to pay an additional $100 per night. Do NOT send your dog to this training. The "Canine Training and Behavioral Specialist" George is very rude and will not accommodate as needed. I was scammed into losing nearing $300 and Oliver was never even trained. Such a disappointment and waste of time, effort and money.

George had been working with our foster dog before we got him, and we were amazed at how well trained the dog was. George helped us understand the training and have the skills to reinforce it so our foster dog could be his best self and find a forever home. Our dog who'd passed away was a senior, small deaf terrier mix, so having a big American bulldog in his teens was something very new to us, and George was absolutely fantastic in teaching us how to continue working with the dog. George spent more than 1.5 hours the day we first received our foster dog going over all the basics until we were confident we had the fundamentals down. We also had several super helpful training sessions at our home so we could practice how to correctly enforce the training in various scenarios and locations. George answered each of my long, rambly, nervous emails with patience, kindness, encouragement and a deep understanding of my questions. George has an incredible ability to not just train dogs well, but train *us* as their human caretakers, which I realized through this process is just as essential. George was really great at teaching me in a way that was consistent, motivating, and easy to understand. I was nervous because looking after and training a large powerful dog can be pretty intimidating when you have no previous experience, but George equipped me with the tools and knowledge necessary to do so and was always very responsive to email and phone calls when I had any questions or concerns. It can be an adjustment to follow a training "regimen" when you never have before, (e.g., using a prong collar) and it's easy to think the discipline is not what dogs want or need. That said, George taught me how critical it is for some dogs (e.g. a large bully breed), and how that's what our foster dog needed to be safe and be his best self and get the home he deserved. Trust me, the foster dog utterly LOVED George, who always knew how to balance correcting negative behavior, positive reinforcement, and play time. The time and dedication George has put into this dog in need of a home is admirable and says a lot about George's love of dogs and generous heart. We are forever grateful for all the training and encouragement we received, and for all George has done and continues to do for foster dogs. We will absolutely go to Ruff And Ready again when we get another dog, and I highly recommend you do the same, no matter what type of dog you have, even if it's just for a consultation session - it will change your life, and your dog's life, for the better.
