I too was duped by Jeff Schlansky and wish I would have had these reviews prior to making a deal with the devil. I've been in the military for 29 years and have moved consistently every 3 to 4 years due to orders, and by far I have NEVER experienced such unscrupulous and despicable conduct as that of Jeff and CA-Realty. My saga began when I was due to return from a year deployment to Afghanistan. My family had remained in our home in North Carolina since we had no family here in California. My wife found a house via the internet through CA-Realty and foolishly signed the lease and submitted all the required deposits and payments without viewing the home simply because we trusted the posted photos of the house, and Jeff's assurance that the house was in perfect move in condition ("fool me once shame on you!")
I arrived home from my deployment and my family flew in on the same day. We went to the property the following day and at first sight I knew we had made a HUGE mistake. The landscape was extremely overgrown and the grass was completely dead. The shrubs and palm tree fronds impeded our ability to get through the front door. There was nobody there to meet us or let us in. After looking around for a way in I inadvertently stumbled on to the front door key that was left above the front door molding.
Upon entering the house, we (my wife, our infant son, and myself) were appalled by the stench, filth, and nails still on the wall. My wife immediately contacted CA-Realty and left numerous messages that went unanswered. The kitchen looked exactly the same as the last dinner the previous tenants had enjoyed. The stove and oven displayed that shake & bake pork chops, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and mixed vegetables was the last meal consumed in the house.
After rolling up our sleeves and hiring a cleaning crew to come in and get the house to a standard that we are accustomed to, $300 later (cleaning crew of three invoice) we moved in very reluctantly. Upon conducting our check-in list we found holes in the kitchen cabinet, dirty carpet, a feeble attempt of someone slapping some paint on the wall that did not match, missing doors, missing cabinets, no bathroom towel holders, no toilet paper holders, no protective screens on the windows, the front yard water nozzle erupted when the water was turned on causing a flood an emergency plumber (which we had to pay out of pocket and were not reimburse), no CO2 detector, the smoke detector had no batteries, the supposedly wooden floor were warped and bulging, there was an infestation of black-widow spiders, and the AC unit was inoperative.
When we finally got a hold of Jeff under the pretense that we were new perspective renters, he became belligerent and condescending because we found a way to out smart him to pickup the phone. Henceforth, he continued to tell us irately that CA-Realty no longer represented the property and we would have to deal directly with the owner which was part two of this hideous nightmare. ("fool me twice, shame on me!")
Mind you, we eventually broke the lease due to numerous problems and had to go to small claim court to recoup our security deposit and other expenditures, which we did win our judgement. During the small claim case, we were able to solicit the tenants that moved into he house after we moved out, and they too encounter the same problems that we had and Jeff had also imposed the "bait & switch" on them that CA-Realty no longer represented the property after they cashed all of their deposits and lease was signed.
Do not under any circumstances or baseless promises rent and/or buy from Jeff Schlansky and CA-Realty. This man is very unethical and is a complete disgrace to legitimate realtors that embrace customer service. Unfortunately I had to give him one star on he rating because it would not allow me to post this otherwise. However, I would have given him none if the possibility was there. You have been warned, so if you chose to ignore these three reviews from people that took the time to write their experiences to avoid others from repeating it, then there's no one to blame but the person in the mirror. read more
