We broke ground on our pool about one year ago. Ryan and his team from California Pools were so accommodating every step of the way - from being flexible with timing due to busy schedules to answering texts at night, on the weekends, and sometimes, even on the holidays. The design process was amazing and they knew when to give their opinions and when to pull back. There were so many options to choose from but they helped guide us in terms of budget and aesthetic. Each of the team members for each part of the design was knowledgeable and were very transparent with costs and totals. They also shared customer reviews and choices regarding each of the choices as well. The building process, as with any home renovation, was tedious and seemed longer than it should have taken but they reassured us regarding timeline and kept us updated as they made progress. They did a great job keeping the mess and mud to the backyard and maintained the integrity of our pavers that were also newly installed - as we had requested. They let us know when knew teams of builders were coming and what to expect next. Almost 100% of the time, they met their proposed deadline for each stage of the building process. We loved knowing what to expect and seeing it actually happen! I am giving them 5 stars because we have not regretted the installation of our pool one bit. It has literally transformed our backyard and figuratively transformed our lives - especially this past summer. However, I would maybe take a half-star off because of the inspector process. It was revealed to us later that we had failed a few inspections that were not communicated with us. The rules, laws, and regulations are a hard landscape to navigate and we felt very under-educated about all of them as we went through the process. I would have loved to have known more about the inspection process and requirements because that seemed to have taken the longest. Our pool was ready but we couldn't go in yet due to one reason or another. Overall, the decision to go with California Pools was an easy and one that I would not have changed. From the beginning to the end, Ryan and his team were there to answer our questions and concerns and our pool is absolutely stunning and flawless! Thank you, California Pools! read more

We talked to a few pool contractors before starting our backyard project, and chose to work with California Pools for two main reasons - 1. we really liked the in-office design and consultation, as well as meeting some of the team face to face, and 2. they said that, unless we choose to change something, the quote is the quote - no surprises. We had a very complicated backyard demo and there were some hidden surprises in our yard that came up during the demo. Ryan V. and California Pools were 100% true to their word and didn't come back and ask for more money, unless we did something out of the original project scope. Also, despite an extremely wet winter and long demo, they finished our full backyard quickly. They called for inspections as soon as a stage was complete, and coordinated the various teams extremely efficiently. Most importantly for us, their communication was amazing. We had asked to be "extra informed" about the process, and they were great with that. The whole team was a pleasure to work with. We had a phone call early on with Ryan V. where he was very thoughtful, understanding, and professional. We also have to give an extra shout out to Ryan S., our project manager. Every time I called or texted with an urgent question, he immediately responded. He is extremely knowledgable and professional, and also very friendly and patient. We put in a new pool, spa, firepit and turf with California Pools, and our backyard came out even better than we could have imagined. We are so thankful to California Pools, and have loved having our new yard for the summer. If we were to do another backyard project, we would 100% work with California Pools again. read more

The team at the OC division of California Pools is incredible! Ryan V, Ryan S , Nate, Mica, Kanin and Blake were amazing! Communication was fantastic from start to finish. While we worked through Covid challenges they were pleasant, efficient and quality minded. Our design was prepared and thoughtful, they communicated all costs and no hidden surprises. The quality of the build was fantastic. Allowing us to personalize our vision, making suggestions and attending to any concerns. Every single guy on this team is trustworthy, that in itself speaks volumes. They made this project fun and in times of supply challenges they came through. We have the backyard of our dreams and we cannot speak highly enough of the integrity of this group! There are a lot of possibilities out there and we quoted quite a few people. Prices were very much in line, however the aspect of trust and passion sealed the deal! We highly recommend California Pools, Ryan you have a great team, we loved them and we are so thrilled to be able to enjoy the beautiful, chic backyard you created for us!! So much gratitude. read more

Where do I begin??? We've always wanted a pool but thought that there was no way our small yard could accommodate one. We'd also heard countless horror stories from friends and neighbors about contractors who were terrible to work with/projects that sat unfinished for months. We were referred to Ryan by friends we trusted and WOW, he's undoubtedly the best in this industry. He has excellent communication skills and pool builder knowledge, and is the most honest contractor I've ever met! His word is GOLD and his work is absolute perfection. We couldn't be happier with our pool and the entire process and will refer him to everyone we know. If you want to have the best experience from start to finish with an honest contractor, Ryan from California Pools is your guy. Like me, you will be singing his praises forever. Thanks Ryan and Team! read more

California Pools started our pool installation in November 2022 and had it completed in February 2023, beating their promised schedule by about 2 months. It was a great experience overall. We had other companies bid the project, but we chose California Pools based on how they developed the project and how up front they were about expectations. They took an education based approach to guiding us through the design, and consistently communicated throughout the process. We didn't feel "sold" at all. Ryan V. did a great job coaching us and explaining how the project would come together, and provided expert opinions on function and design. His pricing was very competitive with other bids we had gotten. They also include engineering and permitting costs, which we found to be rare. Their contract was simple and honest, and their payment milestones were fair. It was honestly an easy choice. The best part of the experience, however, was dealing with Ryan S and Micah, the field management side of the team. Those two consistently communicated and went the extra mile over and over. We wouldn't change a thing about the process and the end result we got. We'll come back to post more pictures once we get some landscaping done. read more

After meeting with multiple companies, we decided to go with California Pools for our backyard renovation/pool build. My priority was finding a contractor that could work with me to bring my ideas/vision to life, and also ensuring customer service was a priority for them. We built mid-pandemic, but that didn't stop them from starting and completing the project at projected timelines. From the planning stages to project management, to post build response time any time I've reached out, they did/do an excellent job. We would not hesitate to use them again in the future or recommend them to anyone considering a pool. We felt confident in the company, the contractors, and materials they use/recommend. While going through such a major renovation isn't easy, they were the best of the best every step of the way. read more

If you want to build your dream backyard with integrity, efficiency and peace of mind then you have to go with California Pools (San Clemente). If you want to lose sleep, money and time... then go with someone else. I wish every business I had to deal with worked like they do. The best group text thread I've ever been a part of. I miss that group thread. Building a pool is a major project, these guys make it seem like a walk in the park. I almost want to move and do it all again, but my husband is not willing to do that just yet. Go figure. Seriously, I will never work with another company as good as these guys! We loved working with California Pools South OC! The two Ryans and Blake (and everyone on their team) were so professional and attentive throughout the process. We researched a bunch of different pool companies and found other companies were super flaky or gave us outrageous bids that seemed to capitalize on economic factors. Not California Pools - they made a very informative presentation to us sharing the basic principles of pool construction including how to manage building a pool close to a slope (like our yard), timing, estimated costs for each phase. They gave us lots of advice along the way when we decided to change up some things. We highly recommend working with this group. You won't regret it! read more

I was referred to California Pools (San Clemente) by a neighbor who had the company build their pool. I find word of mouth referrals from trusted personal sources to be the most reliable and this certainly proved to be the case with California Pools, with whom we contracted to handle our build. Every step of our six-month project, from the initial in-office consultation with the owner/team, design, permits, materials selection and HOA approval through demo, excavation, plumbing, electrical and masonry...all of it...was without setbacks or drama. California Pools and its excellent team became more than simply a company I hired; they quickly became partners in helping transform our yard. The contract and payment schedule (as stages of the work was completed) were clearly spelled out. My project manager, Ryan Skelton, was extraordinarily friendly, responsive and managed the build like it was going into his own yard. Communication was superb and handled not only via telephone but via group text where all parties could and did easily share updates and information. All deadlines were met. The trade work was very clean and the end quality was excellent. Workers were talented, kind, focused, on time, respectful of our neighbors and cleaned up at the end of each day. If anyone is seriously considering a pool/spa project, I enthusiastically recommend California Pools (San Clemente)! read more

We are VERY happy and thankful to work with everyone here. From the start Ryan educated us on what to expect. He had us on the right track for understanding our material options, the entire process, timing, communication and drew up a clear contract. We shopped around but felt like we could trust California Pools after seeing their current projects. Keep in mind we simultaneously took on a full home reno so I was juggling a crazy schedule and budget. The professional communication, follow ups and staying on track to finish was most impressive especially during the supply squeeze. Not only was our home site respected during demo and install, they worked around our other contractor. Today we have the pool we envisioned and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend. read more

I have to say that my experience with CA Pools was top-notch. Our house was a new construction, so there was no demo needed. Ryan Vaughn did such a thorough job explaining every aspect of the pool construction, their process, and the cost before we even signed a contract. The "pay as they complete" process gave me a lot of confidence they would perform as they said. The team was great and they walked me through each phase. I worked with Nate, Blake, Ryan S., Kaynin, and Micah on various aspects of the project. That is a really good team! Any hiccups or changes needed were jumped on an solved immediately. They also worked very well with my hardscape contractor and, if you've ever used different contractors at the same time and in the same space, you know that can get dicey at times. Not with our contractors though. Everyone was extremely professional and I am beyond pleased on how it all turned out. I highly recommend California Pools! read more

Thank you to Ryan and the team for making our dreams come true and putting a pool in our backyard. We have lived in this home for 15 years and thought our yard was too small to ever have a pool... We sat down with Ryan, And he gave us hope and a design that we were excited about. It wasn't just talk... after providing full detail of the process involved with a schedule for construction, He delivered on all his promises and even exceeded the timeline for completion and other expectations. I would do this 10 times over again, because Ryan made it such a positive experience with a result that we will be happy with for a lifetime. Professional. Responsive. Meticulously detailed. Personable. Time and budget management is the best I've seen. I would give ten stars if I could. Keep up the great work. Referring all my friends and family. Thank you. read more

California Pools - Two months from demo to water - Swimming Pools Near Me - San Clemente, California

Seeing as this office serves as the location for the headquarters of California Pools, I would like to leave great review for the manner in which this business is run (Laura Carlson is especially helpful). I had a pool built by California Pools of Temecula in August 2018. The pool came out great and although I didn't work with the staff at this location directly during the construction process, I have had post-construction interactions with them regarding warranty information and the like. They are very professional and responsive. read more

We have all been left disappointed by a contractor we have trusted to do work in our home. Not California Pools! They are the best there is in South OC. I interviewed 4 different pool contractors - a pool is not something you want to make a mistake with. We eventually landed on a pool contractor, signed a contract and they didn't start for almost a year. Enter California Pools. We transferred the contract to CA Pools on a Wednesday, they started bright and early on a Monday and there wasn't a single day through the process we didn't get a friendly text or call about the progress.
