As a millennial I really find in-person class to be the way to go for structured learning, when it relates to a non-hobby subject. I got lucky to find this school close by and for my job to sponsor me to take the excel boot camp. I wanted to refresh the things I learned in college almost 20 years ago but haven't used much since. And also to just step my excel game up in general so I could actually make excel do things for me as opposed to using it simply for data entry. I did the basic boot camp that spanned 3 consecutive Saturday sessions. Nice, clean and private learning facility in a cool location downtown upland. The instructor was Michael and he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and good and explaining the information and fielding questions as we moved through the material. The classes were broken up into nice lesson segments and although each had a different main focus there were recurring things a lot too which helped seeing them integrated in different contexts. I feel confident that practicing the skills we learned in class will help me utilize excel much more efficiently and I feel that with this base I could also teach myself new things more effectively too using online aids. I seriously still can't find certain functions on Microsoft Excel 2010! It's so annoying... I feel like I'm just clicking around on each tab going "I know, it's here somewhere....I used to be able to do it on the older version!!" My company encourages us to take self development courses or attend a conference every year. In 2013, I just wanted to take an Excel class... HAHAHA. Since my company didn't have any classes listed on the calendar, I opted to take an external class instead and found California Computer Schools. Classes are CHEAP at $98!! I signed up for Excel Advanced and paid online with a credit card. They also offer MS Access, PowerPoint, Illustrator, QuickBooks, Outlook, and Publisher classes. The "school" is located in the Upland Northwest Center which is the same plaza where the Legends Burger and Claro's Italian Market is (Yay lunch options!). It's kind of towards the back so it's not visible from the main street. The classroom is in the back and pretty small (holds only about 12 people). Kelly Kaliher was our software instructor and there was only two people in the class! So it's more of a one-on-one experience. She said she closed the class early on purpose so we could finish the class faster since she had an appointment afterwards. (LOL) After a few exercises, we were able to tell her some of the issues we were having and she was able to give us some tips. She was very knowledgeable and the class was a great refresh. They had some tea and coffee in the back and we had a 45 minute break for lunch. The other lady and I walked over to Legends Burger. (turns out the other women does inventory for pet food in Victorville) I'd recommend this place if you need a quick refresh on any programs and they also do group trainings. 47/100 Reviews for 2014 read more

I attended CCS to freshen up my computer skills and was very empress by the facility and the staff. I would highly recommend CCS to anyone who is learning to use a computer for the first time to someone seeking to brush up on their computer skills. Kelly is phenomenal! Three people from our firm (The Blue Law Group) took her Excel Advanced course and there was never a dull moment. She is extremely knowledgeable and VERY computer SAVVY! Her skills and tricks are just unparalleled. There is sooo much to learn you just want to keep going back for more. I am not sure if this is always the case, but we got a deal where we are able to go back to the same class and retake it for free. I consider myself to be fairly advanced in excel BUT after seeing what Kelly can do.. I've taken two classes now with Kelly, Word and Excel. The Excel class had about 5 students, so we were able to have a lot of one on one. My second class with Kelly was Word I showed up and no one else was there I was sure Kelly was going to cancel, nope we got started and it was private tutoring. I'm 54 years old and completely computer illiterate Kelly is very patient and answered all my questions no matter how silly they were. The best part is you can come back within the year for a refresher course if you need to and you can email her.
