hate leaving negative reviews, but after 4 months into a renovation that I was originally told…read morewould take approximately 6 weeks, I feel obligated to share my experience. I used a contractor recommended by Total Floors from their "trusted vendor" list for a kitchen and two bathroom renovation. Unfortunately, almost nothing has gone according to plan. First, tile for multiple rooms was ordered incorrectly, causing major delays while replacement material was reordered. In one shower, the tile that was supposed to be 2" x 9" arrived measuring 2" x 9 1/8". That small difference became a major issue because half of the tile was the correct size and half was not. Instead of replacing the flawed batch, I was told to "adjust the design" to hide the inconsistency -- despite paying full price for the product. The cabinet situation has been even worse. I paid the recommended contractor to measure my kitchen cabinets, then hired him for the renovation. Months later, I had to hire a new contractor to completely rehang the cabinets because they were improperly installed, uneven, lacked adequate support, and did not line up correctly. On top of that, several cabinets were measured incorrectly and do not fit the space properly, leaving me with unusable cabinets and an unfinished kitchen. What has been most disappointing is the lack of customer service afterward. I have repeatedly called, emailed, and texted trying to find a solution regarding the cabinet issues, but I receive little to no response. Unless something changes significantly, I cannot recommend Total Floors or their cabinet/vendor partnerships based on my experience. The amount of stress, delays, mistakes, and lack of communication has been extremely disappointing.

Be wary of Carpet Exchange. We purchased flooring for our basement remodel and had it installed by…read moreCarpet Exchange's team of installers. The salesperson we worked with was very nice. The install team was polite, clean, and efficient. Here is where things went wrong. During the install, I noticed that the product used for the stairs requires two pieces and the colors didn't match. I pointed this out to the install team. They said this is relatively normal and showed me pictures of other installs that experienced the same issue. My first thoughts were, "Why wasn't I told about this by the salesperson?" and "I wouldn't have chosen this product if I had known." The install team explained that there is a way to use only one product for the stairs, but it requires some custom work. My wife and I loved the idea and immediately agreed to go that direction. The install team contacted our salesperson, and they started the process of getting approvals to complete the work. When we asked the salesperson if they knew about the color difference, they said they didn't know about it or they would have told us. I'm thinking, "Why wouldn't the install team and the product vendor communicate to the sales team that the colors don't match?" That's a pretty big process breakdown. After a week of waiting for confirmation that the custom work would be done, we were informed by the store manager that they needed to talk to the product vendor, get samples shipped, arrange compensation to Carpet Exchange for the cost of the custom work, etc., but it should all be done in 3 weeks. At this point, we had already waited a month--what's 3 more weeks, right? Except, it's been three weeks and work hasn't even begun. Why? Because Carpet Exchange requires that you pay in full before the product is installed. Since they received our payment 2 months ago, they have no incentive to complete this work with any sense of urgency. It doesn't matter to them that we can't use our basement now. The other trades that need to come in after the flooring is done (drywall, paint, millwork, cabinets, finishes, etc.) have now removed us from their scheduling because they got tired of us asking for another week, then another week, while Carpet Exchange holds us hostage. What should have been a 3-day installation has now been ongoing for two months with no end in sight. The communication from Carpet Exchange has been lackluster, often requiring us to track down the manager just to get another vague reassurance.

What a pleasure it was to work with Out of Sight…read more They designed a custom closet for our master bedroom, tailored to our storage needs, after we finished a full bathroom remodel. They were responsive, had a ton of different color and texture options (hundreds of choices) and did an outstanding job with the install. We wanted to reuse our remnant piece of quartz from our MBB project that had coincidentally been done by the fabricator down the street from Out of Sight. The fabricator (Rock Solid - AVOID!) couldn't cut a simple rectangle correctly until their third try. Even though Out of Sight had no responsibility to install another vendor's product, they came back twice on our behalf to install it, even taking it back to Rock Granite (completely unresponsive to us) to fix their errors. And OOS didn't charge us for the trips. THAT's customer service. We're thrilled with how everything turned out from Out of Sight. Strongest recommendation for custom closet work.

Overall rating for BKC = "F" - "Designer" (Gavy) = "F-"…read more - Resolving our huge list of issues/problems (Gavy, Heather, Paul) = "D-" - Showroom = "C+" - Installer/repairs (Brian, John) = "B" - Delivery = "C" We engaged BKC primarily because they represented the line/manufacturer of the cabinets we wanted for our complete kitchen remodel (Eclipse). We were assigned a designer, Gavy, to create a rather simple cabinet layout design for our pretty straight-forward kitchen. Most new cabinetry was nearly the same or very similar to our existing layout. But Gavy got many things wrong from the first iteration (for example, we all discussed and agreed in our initial meeting that we'd add a small island to our kitchen, that we all accepted the minimal clearances, and that we all agreed adding a peninsula of any kind would not work; the first layout design had a peninsula!). We found Gavy to have limited or no knowledge of design principles to help guide aesthetic decisions, and we ended up specifying our own details for what to include in the layout design and details for the cabinetry choices. Gavy proved to be a salesperson with some training on the layout cad software rather than an actual "designer". We chose our own installer, mainly because after our cabinets were ordered, we had lost trust in BKC. During installation, several serious layout design errors were found and we began multiple rounds of getting BKC to correct these problems, leaving us with a partially-completed kitchen for months. Errors included lack of needed clearance for the built-in freezer/fridge unit and the adjacent microwave handle - the handle would have hit/dented the fridge door upon opening. Other cabinet bases were simply ordered incorrectly (some were also incorrectly manufactured by Eclipse). BKC did finally accept some responsibility for their errors as did (apparently) the cabinet manufacturer. This required endless emails and conference calls, culminating with working through all problems with the CEO/person in charge. Solutions took multiple rounds of ordering cabinet replacements (including entire cabinet boxes worth thousands), multiple installation sessions and overall delays of several months. BKC did work with us through the bitter end of getting almost everything acceptably done. It was painful. It was extremely frustrating and disruptive. It was extremely disappointing. After spending around $50k, we would never recommend BKC for anything, ever, to anyone.

Cons......The designer was passive/aggressive, detached and disorganized.....which resulted in many, many weeks of delays. These delays came, from the designer, in the form of....poor/no communication; repeated cabinet drawing/rendering errors, scheduled installation changes [by her]; failure to order appropriate cabinet parts/materials. Other than the professionals who installed and serviced the cabinetry this was a long, painful and exhausting experience with BKC. For that reason I would highly recommend they be excluded as a cabinetry vendor option.
