We have an existing Snugtop camper shell on our 2013 Tacoma. Had some leaking issues and needed paint touch up. We took it to CCS, explained the problem to Cindy. She was able to guide us through the process of replacing the seals around the doors and windows, as well as painting the entire unit to match our truck. We decided to replace the sliding windows with Windoors on both sides. What a great decision! Accessibility is SO MUCH better! Now the shell looks and operates great! I had been thinking about taking off my tonneau cover since it had a broken latch and would not longer lock (I tried to fix it, it is 15+ years old, etc.). On a whim, looked up California Campers and went to see if they could help. We contacted them via email to confirm that they were indeed closed the first Saturday of the month. They responded to the email just over an hour after I sent it confirming that yes they were, but if we had any questions they would be happy to answer them via email. I replied with my questions s and they immediately responded with the answers and we decided to go to their location the following Saturday. We were shown different options between shells and tonneau type covers. We decided on a cover now and was provided a quote for a shell if we wanted to do that at a later date. They were able to install the cover right then. Very impressed with the staff. They were knowledgeable and very helpful. Especially appreciated the quick response on the day they were closed. Call ran a couple places looking for a commercial camper shell for a new fleet truck. Given the circumstance with everything being on back order I decided to go with a tunnel cover instead. When I spoke with Gary on the phone he was very upfront and straight to the point. No games, no sales pitch, no wasting my time. They said they had one in stock so I was there within 25 minutes of getting off the phone with him and he showed me the one they had in stock. I have purchased Snug Top tonneau covers for my Nissan Frontier and my Chevy Silverado and more recently a Leer shell for my F-150. I have not had any issues that one shouldn't expect with any product that gets used often for work. Each time the service has been great! This is a very small business with one, maybe two employees on duty, so there's no one available to blow smoke your way. If you're serious, check their website or stop by and get a brochure. I typically take my SnugTop back to Alan Sims at Discount Camper where I bought the shell almost 20 years ago. I worked in Long Beach then, although now I live in Upland. My hinge and window bracket had failed and needed replaced, it failed just a few days before a planned camping trip. I tried to get a shell in central California in time for my vacation. Didn't realize that typical Snugtop Rebel takes 4 to 6 weeks. I called around, then googled. This place came up Called Gary, he said no prob, I can have one in 3 weeks. 2 weeks later, the shell arrived. Gary's price beat everyone's else too He's the man!!! read more

Purchase price was fair. I called around a few places but they basically matched the prices. Finally came in for install. Took longer than promised to install but looked great when done. Was ready to give 5 stars. Went to check windows and they were not properly latched which allowed me with bare hands and little pressure to basically "pop" the sliders open. Also a back window seal wasn't straightly aligned. They said it wouldn't make any performance issues but come on I just dropped 3k on a shell and it can't look perfect from the manufacturer? They offered to fix it and get replacements and said easy and quick reinstall. Still good with 5 stars cause it's from manufacturer that way and not their fault. Said new windows ready in a week. Week goes by. No call. I wait a few extra days and call them. Said it'll be in within few days there was delay. Would've appreciated a heads up. Say they'll call when they get em. Few days goes by and still no call so I initiate phone call again. Ok they're in. Drive down to have new windows put in. Was promised it'd only take 20-30 min max on phone. I'm writing this review as I've already been here 30 minutes and they now state it'd be an hour at least even though I'm the only customer. What I hate most in customer service is over-promising and under-delivering. Installed in under hour. They hustled. Appreciate that. Now I'm finished and they checked the windows and it's exactly the same as before. Still popping open. Say they have to check with manufacturer again. Beyond frustrated. So I have to come back a 3rd time and who knows what'll happen on that visit. They apologized but come on. They say now I have to come back because Snugtop needs to custom make the window. Really? It's a 2012 Tundra not like a 1994 Ranger. I guess technically not their fault? I don't know who to believe but I know who took my money. Update 8/30/17----got new windows placed and wayyyy better and will actually lock. However, it's been less than 2 weeks since that was done and now the rear window is busted. Going to try and just get a refund on the whole thing and go somewhere else. Beyond upset. Update 9/8/17 - The owner Ash has now stated that he will not help me until I remove this review. Offered to send it back to Snugtop but not until this post is down. Such amazing customer service. I wonder now how many others have really had negative things to say but are forced to remove them because of their threats. read more

To begin this review you have to understand we live in Tucson, Arizona. I was searching for a SnugTop Rebel for my Oxford White 2016 F150 XLT with a 5.5' shortbed. First I tried the three major shell dealers here in Tucson. Nobody had one and delivery was 3-4 weeks. Then I expanded out to Sierra Vista, Benson, Casa Grande, and Mesa. No luck again. Being hockey fans we had already booked a trip to Ontario, Ca to watch the AHL All Star games at the Toyota Center. My wife suggested checking for one in Anaheim ... found one at $2700 plus tax ... thanks, but I'm pretty sure I can find a better deal. Then I found California Camper Shells in Ontario with a simple Google search and called, expecting the same thing. Gary answered and listened to my woes. He put me on hold for a couple of minutes to check his stock. When he returned he told me he had one left ... in white ... with a bunch of options already installed. But he would give me a nice discount. The price for the SnugTop Rebel was, by far, the best offer I had heard from anyone ... and it was in stock. I put some money down to reserve it and made an appointment to get it installed at 9:30am on Monday the 27th of January. California Camper Shell was an 8.5 mile 15 minute drive and almost a stright shot from our hotel at the Ontario Airport I arrived around 9:15 in the morning and Gary & Crew took my truck into the back and started working on it. I wandered down the street to the Starbucks, grabbed a coffee and walked back to watch. They were done in under an hour and it looks perfect on my truck. My SnugTop was really a deluxe edition with a few extras on it ... Pro-Lock, tinted sliding side windows w/screens, the back window has a small sliding window that matches my truck's back window, the back window is also releases and fully swings down for easy cleaning, a fully carpeted liner, Yakima starter rails, LED dome light, and this thing even has two USB ports at the tailgate. They tested all of the lights and connections, and I was on my merry way. Gary was super professional on the phone and in person when I arrived. His crew was really friendly and they looked like they knew exactly what they were doing, from the wiring to shell installation. The pricing was excellent and we could not be happier with our SnugTop. The trip back to Tucson was smooth and it seemed like the truck handled better with the extra weight on the cargo bed, the ride also seemed to be a bit quieter ... I assume the shell & carpet liner absorbed some of the road noise. Our gas mileage went down slightly (from 20.1 to 19.4) but I attribute that to cheap gas (Circle K) and using cruise control most of the way back to Tucson. Ordered a camper on Father's Day as a gift for an upcoming trip, we were told that it would be ready in about 2-3 max which was perfect and would be right on time for the trip. It has now been 6 weeks and now too late to get the camper on time for our trip. We had followed up before and they kept telling us that it would be ready in a week and then another week and it was never done. Went in today to cancel the order and they charged a $100 fee for a restocking fee for a camper we never got, even after 3 extra weeks of waiting after the original date it was supposed to be ready. On Friday April 3, 2015, I went to California Camper Shells to order a new brake light and handles for my Snug Top camper shell. Was told the parts needed to be ordered and it would take a week. Required to leave a $20 deposit. On Friday April 10, 2015 I called and asked if the parts had come in. They said, "Let me check I'll call you back." No call back. On Monday April 13, 2015 called again and was told the same thing, "Let me check I'll call you back." No call back. On Tuesday April 14, 2015 I called a third time and was told, " So-and-so didn't order the parts it's going to be another week." Told them to forget it and send me my deposit since it would cost me more in gas to go down there and get it. Shoddy and inattentive customer service and the attitude of they were doing me a favor just cost them money on the rather small services I had requested and the BedTred liner I was considering purchasing from them. I bought snug lid from this place I put money down and scheduled an install, when I came back the person at the desk said I needed a piece for my tailgate which was another$49 dollars, keep in mind these guys printed out a receipt which didn't indicate the part I needed, after going back and fourth I went ahead and let them do the work, the rude part was while going back and fourth the two workers kept talking in Spanish discussing my issue. I'm sure the got over on me. After a couple months the fuse went out on the snug lid, I went in today to have them look at it, there was a guy behind the counter that appeared to be the manager he was a little rude seemed like he didn't want to help, he said I had to wait for his worker to finish and then he would check it out, the guy that appeared to be the manager went in the next room and sat on his ass. I waited about 10 min and left, I feel like I gave this place a lot of my money and time and you couldn't take 5min and look at a minor problem? I went down to Accessary house and got what I needed, they are also a lot cheaper then this place! This is the type of work they do! Some of the worst customer service I've ever seen, went there to look at a cover for my Toyota Tundra and apparently we were there when it close and the worker was already pulling out while we parked in the location, and the worker didn't even walk up to us but yelled at "Were Closed!" And we said oh okay can we ask a question? The worker replied "no we're already closed while shaking his head very upset. I went in today because I thought the bracket from my truck lid was broken. When I arrived this nice lady helped me in and then the man in the front asks what I need. I say I think the thingy that lifts the lid is broken. Lol I know so we had a laugh when he said let's go see the thingy. I'm still embarrassed. So he takes a look then asks a guy to fix it. Went in to order a Snug too and schedule an appointment. I was told that the shell was in stock. Went in on Nov. 22 to have install done, was told " oh your not going to believe this, but it is the wrong size". Also told the factory put the wrong size. Shouldn't that have been checked before the order was placed? And funny thing, I hear the installer tell him that was the wrong year. So was never really checked. They tried to offer me $59 off...no thanks. So disappointed as we were taking a vacation and really needed that. Now will go elsewhere. read more

Bought a leer shell here a couple years ago totally happy with it and the carpet kit roof racks and everything great clean install. Went back today and spoke with Gary. My back piece under the glass broke he proceeded to tell me I should fix it with two sided tape basically put a band aid on it. Not sure what his vehicles are like but I work hard for what I have and want it correct. He then said they don't fix things there and I would have to order one but they can't put it on ok fine I will do it I want it to be right. He said he will have to get serial numbers and find out. Sat waiting never came out he did not want to help me at all was the feeling I got. Went in he came out took em down said he would call me. Called me back a few hours later said they don't make that anymore I would have to fix it myself that's fine. This Gary was just rude and un caring their customer service ends at the parking lot after you buy your product. I would highly recommend you look somewhere else for a shell.
