Saul, the owner, was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and took time to explain different plants and how to care for them. I found exactly what I was looking for! After we went to the latter with only partial success, DH suggested going to Sterling. He'd been there before, while I had only wanted to visit but had never stopped in. It's beautifully laid out. Though it's a nursery, selling all manner of trees and other plants, it's arranged to feel like you're visiting a designed garden. Once we drove into the heart of the property I was somewhat confused on where to stop and park. DH remarked that they had done some major rearranging since he'd last been there, so he wasn't sure where to direct me to go. We found a spot that wasn't blocking any of their driveways, then got out to take a look around. We weren't seeing any succulents, nor any employees to ask. I was soaking up the beautiful surroundings when one of the staff offered to help. He said that they don't sell smaller succulents, only one and five gallon pots. That's not going to work for us at this stage, so we thanked him and moved on to another stop. I would plan to return when looking for larger landscaping needs.

The woman on the phone was very helpful, so I put them on the list to visit. The other afternoon, Dear Hubby and I stopped by, ready to load up on plants. Unfortunately, their selection was very minimal on that day. They were expecting more in the next day or two, they said. We picked out a few, but it really wasn't what we were hoping for or needed. On the other hand, if we had been in the market for a wide variety of other plants, trees, shrubs, or flowers we would have been in luck. They have a lot of beautiful pansies right now, for example. Noting that if you are coming from west to east, their sign isn't visible, so you might need an assist from GPS. They share a driveway with an equestrian business. The banner sign announcing their nursery faces traffic coming from Simi toward Moorpark.

The pricing on the pots were slightly higher than I am used to (I buy mine at Green Thumb) and dont come with saucers but i still bought several! I can not wait to return, but I just went on a trip to my plant shop in Moro Bay and came back with a car load so will wait a LITTLE....or until I take a fellow plant collector friend and accidentally end up with some things for myself. If you are looking for anything plant-related, Green Thumb is your place to go. The Canoga Park location is quite large and offers large plants and trees, outdoor plants, indoor plants, patio supplies, bbqs, gardening supplies, and they have garden experts that can advise you if you have questions. You can find anything gardening-related and more! On our most recent visit, we purchased a dwarf madarin orange tree that we are going to grow in a container. We had great help from the staff with picking out a tree, then picking out a container. I wish that I remembered the name of all of the folks that helped up, as each one was great, especially on a really busy day. The one that I do remember is Noah, who was super helpful and friendly. If you sign up on the Green Thumb website for their weekly email newsletters, you will get discount offers. For the 80th anniversary weekend, we were able to get 50% off of one item, which was a great deal.
