This review is to follow up on my last experience. I ordered takeout so my review is more about the quality of the food. The business owner obviously cares about customer satisfaction, as the business contacted me to try and make it right. I received a credit in the value of the rib tips that I was shorted on my first time ordering, and recently placed an order with them to try it out again. I ordered the tailgater and was not disappointed! The portions were as described, and I really enjoy the unique sweet bbq sauce. The brisket and chicken were my favorite, the ribs were good, but the pulled pork and tri tip were a little dry for my taste. Still good but the meats are all a little on the drier side in general. The jalapeño corn bread is bomb, and the baked beans are my fave from all other SD bbq spots. I am glad I gave this spot another shot, will try dine in next time. read more

We initially inquired about the catering menu and if we could come to the restaurant to try it out. This was the first place we tried for our menu and we were sold. Average at best. I got it delivered. I ordered a brisket sandwhich that was 50% fat and two measly slices of not very flavorful brisket. They also forgot to add the dressing for the my side salad and they forgot to add the ranch for my buffalo wings. Plenty if other options for better BBQ. I used to come here a lot a few years ago and I always had fun. They have a lot of TVs and a lot of tables to enjoy watching the games. The bbq is very good and the prices are fair. I really enjoy eating here. I just wish I was in the area more often. They now have their own parking lot, which is great because parking was a little tight before. My favorite bbq joint! Favorite meats would be the ribs. It fell off the bones. The rib tips was nice and fatty. Pulled pork was dry but the brisket won us over. I'm not a fan of bbq chicken. We got the pork ribs , tri tip, Mac and cheese , baked beans , jalapeño biscuit and fries. The pork ribs were fall off the bone delicious. Highly recommend. The flavor on this rib is d-e-l-I-sh. The baked beans were tasty and the jalapeño biscuit is a staple you'll have to try. The mac and cheese were unfortunately a little bland and too soft for my liking and the tri tip was cold and somewhat chewy. We didn't eat past a few bites. I've had the tri tip years ago and remember it being tender so was a bit disappointed but am assuming it was just chance we got a chewy batch. There is seating inside and outside , as well as at the bar. Servers and bartenders are down to earth and we had a fun time. OMG this is the best BBQ. The pork ribs are off the hook. We got a whole rack for the 2 of us, but could not eat it all. The ribs are really meaty, tender and flavorful, they fall off the bone. My husband is from Memphis, so I have to say that we're very particular when it comes to bbq because we've had the best. Cali BBQ definitely holds their own! We tried out the brisket, pork ribs and trip-tip, all of the meats were super flavorful, juicy and perfectly smoked.
