Outside patio
Lorraine K.

We dropped in on a cloudy and rainy day with our service dog and sat outside and enjoyed the outside patio tables the service was outstanding . The inside bar staff was very friendly as well as the several hostesses. Also the manager took the time to check on all the outside tables in the rain. And don't worry the Red umbrellas keep you covered at the tables so you were nice and dry the whole time.

Overall rating a 4/5 based on at least 6-7 trips thus far. For the record, the past two have brought up our impression of the place as everything was completely stellar end-to-end on all fronts! If this keeps up we're going back to 5s all around! Food and drink: it's why you go, right? The salads an chicken are hard to beat. And most trips the meat is perfect, if not really good even on a bad day. Fave is probably the brisket bites. Location and parking: easy to find on GPS, and plenty of parking for sure. Drop those off who struggle with a walk at the entrance. Staff and service: was awesome our past couple trips, and hoping that only continues! Venue and vibe: definitely a staple place in Knoxville, and matches to all other Calhoun's look and feel. Will be back soon i hope!

It was a beautiful day for outdoor dining! This is a perfect spot in Oak Ridge to eat with a view. At Melton Lake, there are lots of activities and events which makes this location sooo great! My husband and I took a road bike ride here to grab a bite and a much needed rest break. I ordered the Sweet & Spicy Wet Wings with bleu cheese and he ordered a Hickory Bacon Burger with fries. We both cleaned our plates! If we didn't have to ride our bikes back home, I would've ordered the Key Lime Pie for dessert. Our server, Sarah, did an excellent job providing service to us and made sure we had plenty of water while we were there and for the ride back (we refilled our water bottles). We made sure to give her a good tip! PRO TIP: There are two outdoor dining areas: one that the hostess seats you (under an awning) and another that is first come, first served (under the red umbrellas). There's a gate for easy access to these areas.

The food was pretty good. Stopped in with a few coworkers for lunch and decided to pick up the combination platter so that I would have something to save for dinner. The barbecue is nice and smokey. We also tried the bacon wrapped burnt ends which was good. I would definitely return if I'm ever in town craving barbecue. 4 Stars

Key lime pie

My friend and I were visiting the area and our hotel recommended this restaurant. The location was definitely desirable on the water. We arrived for dinner on a Saturday evening and the wait time was approximately 30 minutes. Parking was readily available. I ordered the hot Tennessee toddy as my cocktail and the citrus was way too strong. Then, I ordered the beef brisket plate with green beans and spinach maria. The green beans were too crunchy, so I asked to get the broccoli instead. I definitely recommend the beef brisket. We ordered key lime pie and the macadamia nut banana pudding for dessert. The desserts were tasty, key lime is very sour, but that's expected.

Great the vibe for the restaurant are great and there was rowing going on outside on the river so we got some free entertainment and we had a dog with us and they completely accommodated us with outside seating and even brought us a water bowl for our pup so great review but the only problem was some miss communication with the seating but that was fine so it's a great restaurant.

KUDOS,and thank you so much to Asher for providing supreme quality customer service at Calhoun's on the River! We started to order the best appetizer ever: the spinach artichoke dip! The staff is definitely on top of the refills! The view of the Melton Lake near the Calhoun's is amazing! I ordered grilled salmon with spinach Maria:creamed spinach. I highly recommend all to stop by and visit this incredible dining experience in Oakridge, TN!

We came as a big group (15 people) on Wednesday for lunch. Parking was fairly easy. The ambience was great and the view of the Melton lake is awesome. I can't believe I've been to Melton lake so many times but haven't eaten here. The service is awesome. We got bread before our entree. I got the Oriental Chicken Salad and it's the best salad I've had in a long time. It's so well balanced with greens, proteins and a little carbs (rice). The honey vinegarette dressing garnished it to the finest. Will love to come back and try more food.

Love that they have Smokey Mountain Brewery beer on tap. The location is very nice and they have great outside seating near the water.

For the price you would think you would get some kind of bread but the charge $8.00 for house bread. by 8:30 the restaurant was almost empty. Was not impressed and for the price if they did not take the pasta off and if we would have ordered dessert it would have been over $100 for 2 people and we just drank water. to sum up my experience it over price for dinner with small portions and was not impressed with the flavor combinations. me and my wife came home and had to have a snack because we were still hungry . service and atmosphere are good but probably won't return especially with the price point. Oak ridge needs quality restaurant and this place feels like a California or NY restaurant ( small portions and over price and strange pallet combinations) . sorry but this is just my personal experience it's probably ok to go for lunch and have a salad and a glass of wine kinda vibe.

Looking about,…read morewe reviewed the local places to eat something, and wishing to avoid any of the corporate places we found Woody's was pretty close-by. This is one of the magical things about looking for places to eat on-line... you will sometimes find places that you would completely pass over if you were to look at them from the road. This is one of those places. The place is very non-descript, and definitely a locals kind of place. When we walked in there was a small party going on that looked like it was wrapping up, and we were able to get a table. We were greeted warmly, so they do have their hospitality game working for them. There is an outdoor seating area, but as it was getting dark we opted for sitting inside. We both ordered burgers... there are no fries on the menu, which was surprising until we figured out that they don't have a deep fryer. All good there... we can make do with alternatives! I went for the mac and cheese. When the burgers came out, oh boy... these burgers are quite generous and my mother could only finish half of hers. Not a problem there either... it made a very nice little lunch item the next day. The burgers are quite good, and we would absolutely return for them!

This is the place that officially made me a fried chicken fan -- and no fried chicken has ever come close to Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken! Address: 126 Lovell Rd, Farragut, TN 37934 Food: 6/5 My go-to meal is the 3-piece Chicken Tenders with French Fries and Baked Beans, with an added Chicken Breast. Gus's chicken is the best fried chicken I have ever had. It's perfectly cooked with an incredible crunch on the outside, while staying moist and juicy on the inside. The spices are absolutely delicious! I've been here over 15 times, and the consistency has always been amazing every single visit. The baked beans are also the best I've ever had. The French fries are seasoned perfectly with a great crunch while still having a fluffy texture inside. ‍Service: 6/5 The service at Gus's is top tier. Every server treats each table like they're the most important customers in the building. Special shoutout to Daisy -- the last few times I've visited, she has been my server, and she remembers me every time. She even knows my order by heart now! She is genuinely one of the nicest and best servers I've ever had at any restaurant. Atmosphere: 5/5 I absolutely love the vibes at Gus's. I always feel right at home whenever I walk in. The design and menu perfectly match the restaurant's personality, and the place is always clean with plenty of comfortable seating. Value: 5/5 The prices and portions are both an A+ for me. I ordered extra food this time, but you can easily get a fantastic and affordable meal here. Final Thoughts I absolutely love Gus's, and it will forever be one of my go-to spots before going to a movie. This is some of the best fried chicken you will ever have -- if not #1, then easily Top 3 of all time. Bring your family, let Daisy take care of you, and enjoy an incredible meal! FEAST Overall Rating: 6/5 Would I Go Back?: Forever and always -- I'll keep coming back

I felt it was kind of tough and not crispy enough. Like a dark, over-fried version. Sides were okay. I like that they had collard greens. Goes well with chicken. Overall: Seems way overhyped. I like CM Chicken better. For Southern style, I've had better as well.

My stepmom got the pancakes and the portions were huge, my dad got the steak, and I ordered the loaded tots which were easily big enough to be a full meal. My server was super nice and attentive so that was a plus. I sort of feared that my meal was going to end up in utter disaster, after I ordered what was supposed to be a caesar salad. You can see from my pictures, it's not. I don't even think it was Romaine, I think it was butter lettuce, but the lettuce was so warm and limp, it was like somebody left the salad on their dashboard with the sun beating down on it. No croutons, which was nice because I don't eat them anyways but at this point I'm starting to get skeptical because I just spent Texas Roadhouse type money on a truck stop diner. I got the surf and turf with sauteed shrimp and broccoli. I got to say, the steak, even though it was a dollar store steak, the cook made it perfectly for me, I ordered rare, and that's what I got. I hate to desecrate beef, but I had to season her up with a little bit of A1 steak sauce. I'm not overly disappointed, I knew what I was walking into, I just wanted to try something different than what I typically get at this place. But I do know the cook knows his stuff. I would eat here again though. It was decent, but I wouldn't recommend dropping $26 on the surf and turf. ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Right when we walked in, we were asked if we had a reservation. It was our first time, so we didn't realize one was needed. When I said no and asked if we should have had one, the host responded, "Oh, that would have helped." That alone felt a little off-putting. We even offered to come back another time, but she said they had a table available--just that it was reserved for 1:00 PM (it was 11:55). We asked if that meant we'd need to leave by then, and while they tried to reassure us, it definitely set the tone for a rushed experience. We had barely sat down when the waitress immediately asked if we were ready to order. Caught off guard, we asked for water and coffee first. As soon as those arrived, we quickly ordered beignets, chicken and waffles, and biscuits and gravy--trying to be mindful of their time constraint. Unfortunately, our food took over 35 minutes to come out... which didn't align at all with the expectation that we'd be out before 1:00. When it finally arrived, the food was underwhelming at best. The chicken was okay, but the waffles and biscuits and gravy were cold. And the service? Just as cold. Overall, the experience felt rushed, unwelcoming, and disappointing from start to finish. Needless to say, we won't be returning. I truly hope they reconsider how they treat guests--especially first-time visitors who come in excited to try their restaurant.
