My husband had a job up in Maynardville this afternoon. He finished close to dinner time and we decided to stop in this local restaurant. At first glance we weren't sure if it was a restaurant and thought maybe it was just a bar. We took a chance and walked into the lobby. We were further confused upon entering the lobby. There was no one there to greet you and there were two doors. The door on the left said OPEN so we took a chance on that being the entrance. That door did lead to a dining room but again there was no one to greet you and tables were very close to the door. We sat ourselves and waited just a few minutes for a very nice young server to come over. She greeted us with menus, silverware, and took our drink order. After sitting there for a few minutes we realized she was the only server on that side of the restaurant. (We found out the other door led to the other side and it was a bar but also had tables.) We both ordered sweet tea and it was made just like this southern girl likes it, with lots of sugar!! She did a great job keeping our glasses full even for my husband who is a guzzler. After reading a few of the reviews, we ordered the 10-12 ounce ribeye, which was $1 more due to increased beef prices. We both ordered our steaks medium rare, baked potato, and a loaded salad. The loaded salad was $2 more but well worth it. The bacon was more like smoked ham, the shredded cheese seemed to be shredded onsite rather than preshredded, and it was delicious. The baked potato was soft and fluffy! The ribeyes were a little gristly not just fat that you would expect from a ribeye. They were cooked to a perfect medium rare, red warm center. They steaks were chargrilled and the flavor was excellent. If I'd known the grill master knew how to grill a good steak, so many don't now a days, I would have ordered it medium. It was a little too red in some places for me but otherwise had a great flavor. The reason we rated it a 3 was because: 1. The confusion at the entrance. We almost left because we didn't know which door to enter. 2. How dark the parking lot was which I didn't even mention in my review but you can see in the pictures. They need some outdoor lighting. And 3. The gristly steak, both my husbands and my steak was very gristly. For $20, I expect a good cut of meat. My husband described it as very stringy. As far as COVID restrictions, the server was wearing a mask but the tables were not properly distanced and the dining room was full.

Solid place and great atmosphere. Was recommended to head up to Pete's Place by some friends knowing we are on the hunt for good food. It was worth the drive. When we arrived on a Saturday night it was pretty busy, with quite a waiting list. When you walk in there is a board you add you name and number in party to. There are two doors - door on right leads to the bar area, door to left leads to the more dining like room area. While we waited I decided to go to the bar and grab us a few beers, very reasonably priced. The place was packed so it did take a minute to get served but not a big deal. We waited in the "hallway where we walked in" and it maybe took about 15-20 minutes before we were seated. We ended up being seated on the bar side at a high top. Our waitress was quick to come over with menus and get our drink order. We ordered a Pete's Ribeye (rare) with baked potato and onion rings and a Pasta Alfredo with a baked potato as a side. Everything was very good. The ribeye was a little gristly and I should've ordered it medium rare rather than rare since it is a little more of a fatty steak and needed the few extra minutes to render the fat. Onion rings and baked potato were good. My husband had the pasta and he said it was good. We will definitely go back and try it again! Pricing was overall very reasonable too, I think both meals, and a few rounds of drinks we were under $50 not bad at all!

2 Grouper Fillets with okra and French fries.

My son was wanting fried catfish and we were actually heading somewhere else. The other place was crowded so we ended up here. He changed his mind and got fried grouper, as did I. My other son got the ribeye. We spoke with folks at the tables on each side of us and they both talked up the ribeye. They are BIG! We tried food off of each other's plates and there were no complaints. I enjoyed the grouper but I will probably get the ribeye next time. It's big enough to share. Service - can't say enough there. Super sweet young lady waited on us. Everyone had a smile. Definitely heading back and taking others with us.

One of the best rib eye steaks I've ever tasted. The homemade chips were too thin, and the "loaded" side salad had more onion than lettuce for some reason, so maybe I should have just gotten the regular salad for $2 less. Not much of a beer selection, odd for a tavern.

While they're mostly known for drinks and food, they occasionally host live music. And then there's the name confusion: Bubba's Brews is now known as Boathouse at 33, but I feel like the Bubba's name is going to stick around a while for locals... as "Boathouse at 33" doesn't roll off the tongue quite the same way. Now let's get to the food severed at Bubba's, which is more like pub or bar food--wings, nachos, tacos, etc. I recommend the wings, fried catfish tacos, and nachos. All of these are great. On the weekends, Bubba's serves pit-smoked meats like brisket and grilled wings (these are different than the fried wing which are on their menu every day). The day I tried the brisket, it was just okay (it just needed to be smoked a bit more so it would be more tender). But I know briskets can be hard to perfect, so maybe it was just an off day. I am, however, eager to try the smoked wings, but it seems I keep visiting on the days they don't have them. As for the staff at Bubba's, they are all fantastic! Everyone is attentive and super nice! Final thoughts: If you're heading over to Norris Lake for a vacation (or if you live nearby), be sure to check this place out!

Knowing we were going up to the arts district, I looked for a place to meet them before the circle and saw there was a Celtic Pub. Only that was the spot where the drum circle was. And, to my surprise, it is the same owner as the Fox & Parrot Tavern in Gatlinburg, one of my favorite English pubs (and currently closed do to a feud with the US government - hope that gets fixed). The place is definitely British country feeling. Very nice tap list, including both local brews and standard UK brews. Heavy wood feeling with a very nice deck outside, which includes some spots under cover (which was important as it rained on the circle and people had to duck in). There is nothing elegant about the place or the food. But that is its charm. The fish & chips were on point, esp. with the malt vinegar. Shepherd's Pie a bit salty for my tastes, but not to the salt lick level. Also came with chips. As for the drum circle, if you are reading this in June 2026, that is every Monday at 6-8 PM through the end of the month. I got some great drone footage of the circle, which I added to this review.

My daughter ordered the filet, and it was a true filet cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the prices were incredibly reasonable. We had appetizers, dinner, and several bourbons, and our bill was actually lower than what we paid the night before at another restaurant that wasn't even close in quality or service. At midday on a weekday (spring-2026), this warm-feeling comfortable pub was active but not crowded. Of course we had beer-battered fish & chips: tender sweet cod in a not-too-thick crunchy flavorful coating, with fresh greens, onions, and tomatoes. Served with piping-hot thin fries, hand-cut to give a variety of crispier vs. soft bites. You could get that as a small-plate, as a Po'Boy sandwich, or as a main. And we had a bowl of thick rich flavorful creamy chowder. Delicious, satisfying dishes. They had a nice selection of deep crusty savory pies, too. We loved their amazing range of single-malt whiskeys, including some like a smokey softly-fruity Port Askaig that we haven't seen elsewhere. We liked slowly sipping a strongly-peaty young Islay, like 10-year Laphroaig, and Boyd's also had plenty of smoother well-aged pours up and down the price-range. They also had a nice selection of crafts, ales, stouts, ciders, and several Scottish brews. We saw that they have live music almost every evening (not Mondays), with midday music Sat and Sun. Scottish, Irish, bluegrass, old-time, classic country, and more! Next time we have to fit that into our schedule. And fútball (soccer) of course!
