That's what we did and got seated and drinks ordered and dinner menus promptly, Bar /wait staff was very good for a busy time. Live music and crowd in the bar in a living room type atmosphere too loud for an intimate dinner more a sing along fun time place, separate from the main more quiet dining area. Got fried mushrooms appetizer and filet mignon as entree. The filet was high quality very tender perfectly prepared and had a wood grilled flavor. Also got a fresh garden salad and giant baked potato ...excellent well worth the $48 price. Others had a huge burger and cheese steak with fries. Both also very good. Too stuffed for desert but it looked yummy. Was impressed with bar drinks, beer and wine selections. Best steak I've had in this area from Lexington Ky to Knoxville TN. On par with nineteen 19 in Cumberland gap as nicest restaurant in the local area. I'll be back.

I let them know that I had just arrived at my hotel, traffic on I-81 held me up and I was going to order an Uber as soon as I was off the phone. Coming from DC, I expected an Uber would be at the hotel door steps within a few minutes, I was wrong. I was then crushed by the realization that I was wrong, I wasn't gonna make my reservation. I knew that on a week night The Appalachian's kitchen closed at 9. Ride.I called them back to let them know of the situation and expressed my desire to have their Wood Fired Lamb. The Gentleman that answered the phone simply responded "it's going on the grill now, we will see you when you get here. F-ing amazing, turned my stressful and painful day completely around. Uber'ed over, walked into an empty restaurant on a weekday where I would guess dinner customers might have been light and they held the staff for little old me. The Appalachian had just moved to the top of my list for I mean best restaurant I've ever been to in my life. Unfortunately, for them, my favorite restaurant of all time in the United States shut down when I was in my early 20's so they'll never get a chance to compete.. But they just bumped Alligator Soul in Savannah Georgia to number two still in existence in these great United States. The Appalachian is a must dine at least once in your life, top tear resistant. First off, the restaurant is truly stunning! Service was excellent too. We started with the Fried Chicken Skins. My friend had heard good things for a friend, but we weren't particularly impressed. I had the Hanger Steak as my entree, and it was delicious. I especially loved the potato dumplings! My friend had the Kansas City Strip, cooked medium rare, with broccolini. Initially, the steak was overcooked, but the staff quickly cooked another steak and made it right. Overall a really good experience! Downtown Sevierville has really evolved, and we enjoyed walking around and exploring after dinner.

It was hit or mess with the food but nothing was terrible and several of the items were actually quite impressive. We got the barbecue nachos and they were quite delicious I would recommend. Would go back since there aren't many options. Our server is a student going to school to be a therapist and she did a great job. While we were sitting there some guys jumped into their boat and took off without paying and clearly intoxicated so I give her props for putting up with that kind of crap.
