They had really great service and Josh was really amazing to deal with. He confirmed all my worst fears about my car's transmission but gave me so many options on how to proceed. It really made me feel like I wasn't being taken advantage of or having the wool pulled over my eyes. Just given some no nonsense options that I could work with. Though, I do have to mention the strange interaction I had with, I think Aaron?, when I first brought my car in and explained the issue I knew was happening. He did try to diagnose my car without even seeing it as something completely different as a simple alternator or battery issue, which if I hadn't known it was the transmission, it would have been a HUGE sticker shock to get the call later. But otherwise, the team was all really great to deal with. Thanks!

My initial appointment didn't take longer than an hour, and they did a full once over of my car. Parm went over the report, gave me suggestions on what milestone maintenance I should do. I left my car there at approximately 8:30 - 8:45 a.m. I was told that they required the car for the whole day. I was called at approximately 3:40 pm informing me that my car would be ready by 4:30 p.m. While en route to their location from out of town I received another phone call from Motorwerkes at approximately 4:10 p.m. explaining that the services that I commissioned them to perform could not be completed, they were only able to complete the transfer case service, as their person who was tasked with my job, got "hung up on a brake job that took extra time". Now I did receive an apology, thank you, along with a interesting statement that "my car does not require the front and rear differential service until 90k". Now that may be true, but to me this appears as some form of justification to not do this part of the service when they are encountering an internal issue. The point is, whether I needed the service or not (and clearly you had no problem charging me for the transfer case component of the requested service) that excuse is irrelevant. So here's my position. I live out of town, I had my wife follow me to your business so I could get a ride back home, she also obliged to take me back to your business to pickup the car that we thought, by all intents and purposes was going to be completed. She expended gas and her time to do this for me. This was an inconvenience. Now I understand that things happen in business, I was a business owner for 30 years, but my curiosity piques wondering what happened in 30 minutes from my job supposedly being completed to partially completed? So with that said, I would have just gotten the job done. Whether it be an overtime scenario or an all hands on deck situation. I would go the extra mile, even if I lost money on the job, just to honour my commitment and to hold my reputation in good stead, but that's just me. I closing, they say first impressions matter. Clearly I've come away from this experience with the feeling that I don't matter.

They've always performed work on time, as quoted, and properly. The only complaint I've ever had is when I brought my vehicle there and a customer took my keys by accident. They had to call them up, and go get them from the guy while I waited an extra hour. That totally sucked, but it was on honest mistake and they made up for it by giving me a discount on my next repair. I brought my vehicle to this shop for repairs following an independent out-of-province inspection…read more I was quoted over $2,500 for the work, which included a power steering pump replacement and a wheel alignment. Neither of these items was listed as a failure on the official government inspection report. The shop attempted to inflate the bill with several questionable charges. They EVEN quoted 1.5 hours of labor to install a seat that simply clicks into the seat brackets. When I asked about light bulb repairs, they claimed it could take hours to check the wiring and suggested there might be complex electrical issues. (Without even changing a bulb yet) Additionally, they charged me an $80 inspection fee for doing nothing and a $48 charge for a minor brake adjustment that I never authorized. When I moved my vehicle to an honest shop, I received a quote for the exact same required repairs for $1,400 including the unauthorized repairs this shop was claiming they needed to do. It was still far less than the quote I received at OUR MECHANIC. Troy the manager seemed to be really trying hard to bolster the costs of everything and mentioned over 10 times the fact that I had gotten an out of province inspection done somewhere other than his shop which seemed to be problematic for him. I felt pressured and was repeatedly told I should have used their facility for the inspection and that they would have prioritized my vehicle if I had come to them for the out of province inspection as well. Which led me to get a creeped out feeling that they were predatory and dishonest. Glad I saved myself so much money by going somewhere else.

I brought my 1994 Mazda MX-6 in for an inspection and paid $99. After inspecting the car, I was presented with a very substantial list of recommended work. The recommendations included: * Remanufactured brake booster replacement * Front rotor replacement * Rear rotor replacement * Brake fluid flush * Control arm/suspension work * Timing belt kit and water pump replacement * Tire balancing * Wheel alignment * I was also advised about a valve-cover gasket leak and other concerns during the inspection. Taken together, the repairs being discussed amounted to thousands of dollars -- more than $5,000 based on the estimates and work being recommended. Because this seemed excessive, I decided not to authorize the work and took the car elsewhere for another professional opinion. The other garage disagreed with many of these findings. In the end, they replaced the one part they determined actually needed replacement, for approximately $250. The difference between the two assessments was more than $5,000. I understand that mechanics can legitimately have different opinions, particularly with a 32-year-old car. Preventative recommendations are also different from repairs that are immediately necessary. However, the enormous difference between these two assessments left me very uncomfortable with my experience at Speedy Apollo. I'm glad I sought another opinion before proceeding with thousands of dollars of recommended work. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone receiving a large repair estimate here to get an independent second opinion before authorizing the work.
