Have been here before but needed to leave a review after having Courtney as our bartender. It was slow when we first got there but when it got busy she was still cognizant of our drinks. Tacos were excellent! I ordered the chicken. Happened to be there on Taco Tuesday so I think they were $5 apiece. The chips and salsa were excellent. We also ordered the guacamole which was excellent as well! I had a skinny margarita, it was very good. This was a first visit for me and I can say I will be back. my sister and mom stopped by here one afternoon for a cocktail. The tried a few different drinks. Ordered takeout. Veggie quesadillas were excellent with roasted squash and onions! My daughter didn't like the nachos unfortunately due to the amount of pulled pork on top. In the restaurant they may have been better but for takeout it caused the nachos to be too soggy and heavy. I would go back but sit in the restaurant next time. read more

10/10 experience here at Calaveras Cantina. From the food to the service to the ambiance everything was exceptional! We ordered a bunch of different dishes and nothing disappointed in fact everything exceeded expectations. We had the guacamole, queso blanco, and salsa with chips to start and they made the guacamole right in front of us which is usually a tell tale sign that it's going to be gooddddd and it was! As an appetizer we had the fried octopus and I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors in it. It only came with three octopus legs but they were perfectly cooked. Moving to entrees, I split the carne asada fajita and street corn salad with a friend. We got the fajitas cooked medium rare and they came out cooked just the way we wanted- not a second overcooked! The carne and vegetables could have use more flavor in my opinion but I can appreciate a dish that leaves the flavors to stand on their own! The salad arrived tossed and was super fresh. I hate a salad that I have to toss myself so I appreciated it being tossed for me. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, if you are half an hour or even an hour away this is worth the drive! read more

This place is severely underrated in terms of food and service! Definitely a big favorite of ours. I'm obsessed with the chorizo tacos and my parents say it's the best chicken fajita they have ever had anywhere in their life. Mom also mentions that the presentation and ambiance was top notch. I have to say the service from Miguel was also very noteworthy; so much that we thanked him, he was attentive, pleasant, and went the extra mile. Love this place for Taco Tuesday or dinner any night of the week. Tacos are always excellent. Margaritas are also always spot on. This place has the coolest decorations and also a really nice view. Highly recommend the Chicken Tacos especially on the hard shell. They have the best hard shells. Also, always make sure to get the Churros for dessert, they're so good. Great spot with a loud, lively atmosphere outside complete with live music and quieter indoors if you prefer that's still very airy with plenty of open doors. I tried 3 tacos: the cali fish was lovely, the al pastor was ok but too much onions and not enough charred pineapple for my taste, the star of the show was the shrimp taco with toasted pumpkin seeds and chipotle aioli I will never not order this when I come here! I'm looking forward to trying more. My friend had the very classic ground beef taco it was good and the famous street corn which was lovely. The 'hot sauce' on the table was more sweet than hot, if you want serious heat you may want to bring your own or ask for something hotter (we didn't try). They do tableside guacamole, I'd like to try that next time too. read more

I'm shocked that this doesn't have a better rating. My fiancé and I come here occasionally and it's been a few months since we were back and everything has been elevated. They definitely did a refresh on the menu because the tacos specifically the fish taco, brisket and shrimp were phenomenal! We also started with the table side guacamole which is probably my favorite guacamole and chips in the area. The atmosphere is always cool and there were tons of people celebrating the holidays. Came here for Father's Day and a birthday during brunch. We had a party of 10 and sat outside. The service was amazing, the waiter was very attentive and very kind. They have a $19 bottomless mimosa option that I also had with my tacos and it made for a perfect Sunday! All of the food was excellent and were nicely sized portions. This is a happening restaurant. I was immediately intrigued in the way they carried themselves, the decor and all the tasty looking food. The aesthetic of the restaurant was something unique and it's a cute place for a date night or just hanging out with friends. I had to try it for myself! I ordered the farm vegetable wet burrito! It was a decently sized burrito and was really tasty. Only downside of this burrito is that it's literally filled with what tastes like Asian fried rice. There was a combination of carrots, peas and corn with rice which is something I've never seen in Mexican cuisine, but it was interesting and a super hearty meal. I also got the queso enchilada and that had to be my favorite dish of the night. It came with a side of Mexican rice and black beans. Super tasty meal! The staff is friendly, but they did mess up our orders twice in bringing us someone else's meal. Price is fair for the amount of food you receive. The tableside guac is a must have at this restaurant and is something the restaurant is famously known for! Really neat experience and some bomb ass guac. - I recommend sitting outside!
