If memory serves me correctly Excelsior was very small inside, it was tough to move around if 3 to 4 people were inside. Americana Rare Coin has exceeded expectations, with a large display area, separate appraisal section with a large table and magnification for selecting the finest coins, while hunting for errors as well. So, I had a small sale to complete, however I was told that they do not accept Debet Cards or Credit Cards,... Bring Cash Only! Luckily my sister had some cash for my 100 peice 2x2 display squares, for Cents and Quarters. I was unaware and felt stupid going in and asking for something I could not pay for.. The young lady that helped me was wonderful. Extremely polite, studious and actually pulled out items for me to look at, without asking. So, I did have to leave, grab some Cash Only from Sis. and bolt back in just before 5 pm. She was very helpful and I apologized for doubling back, as I know that seemed suspicious. It's an antique setting and it's a very beautiful piece. However, a number of years ago the setting broke, causing it to dig into my finger and it had to be cut off my hand. As a result of that and the age of the setting, the ring essentially split in half. In the process, I managed to lose two of the small diamonds on the side of a larger stone as well. So here I had this beautiful family heirloom, and it was a total mess. It had been sitting in my jewelry box for years. I wanted to give it to my daughter, but definitely not in two pieces with missing stones. But where do you take something like this? And how do you trust someone with something so special? Add to this, I am new to Woodland. So on a whim, I figured I would ask some of my neighbors in our neighborhood Facebook group. I received a lot of recommendations. I also have a lot of trust in yelp. Eventually, I decided I would just go to DJs and see how it felt. The woman there was fantastic. I could tell immediately that she recognized the type of piece this was and I instantly felt like I could trust her. She told me that it was a family business and I sensed from everyone that they really care about what they do. She was able to get me an estimate right away, and I decided I would leave my ring with them. They were a couple of options: I could get it done quickly for a surcharge or wait until their next repair date, which was about two weeks away. I was in no rush. They actually finished the ring a day early! And it's beautiful. It's perfect. And I really feel like it was a reasonable price for the repair. My understanding is they do custom work as well and I have a few ideas. I would love to run by them in the future. In this world of chain stores and online stores, it's nice to find a truly family owned business, particularly when you are dealing with something precious. They really care! Highest recommendation!
