My wife got a new Model Y two weeks ago. I offered to go charge it for her and while leaving the supercharger station I hit the curb with the rear right wheel. I knew right away it was going to be a nasty curb rash. The rim, hubcap were scratched and a little of the tire sidewall ripped. I was pretty bummed as I know Tesla repair can be quite expensive. My wife recently introduced our Model Y rim to the curb. Thinking we were going to have to buy a new rim I was a little angry. I jumped on some of the Tesla forums and started researching to see what others have done about getting a single rim from Tesla or repairs. Someone mentioned local rim repair shops could normally fix curb rash or that Tesla will sometimes recommend mobile rim repair companies. I got on Yelp to look for local companies and found Cal Auto Tech. The reviews and pictures told me I found the company I wanted to use. I called Troy and sent him some pictures of the rim via text. He said he could absolutely do it. Since it was my day off I had asked if he was available, he said yes and was able to come out to my house in Livermore. I really appreciated the fact he was able to do it same day. When he showed up, he sent a text letting me know he was here. I damaged an alloy wheel by taking a right turn too tight in a parking lot and scraped up the right rear wheel. I had a second wheel on the left side that had some minor curb rash that Troy was able to repair at the same time. The repair of both wheels took less than one hour and was done in my garage. While the results aren't perfect due to how deep the damage was (I basically drove into a curb at low speed, like a noob) I'm pleased that it's really only noticeable if you're looking for it. Yo, Troy is the guru of rim repair, the wifey bounced the rim off the curb so hard, I felt my wallet shake, and with the 22in Model X rims!
