Sadly, this company RUINED a brides most precious Once in a lifetime Wedding Day on July 28th 2017 in Stevensville, Md. I was her wedding coordinator and was appalled that this company failed her. The owner Chef Alswell failed to give herself enough time to get to the wedding venue. As a professional caterer you MUST plan ahead and be there to set up and be ready BEFORE the first guest arrives, which means giving yourself a buffer for unforseen circumstances, weather, traffic etc. This company arrived over 2 hours late AFTER RECEPTION BEGAN. The bride was in tears, everything was pushed back The bride walked around to every guest to talk to them and try to make them feel comfortable while waiting for the caterers. They had their first dance once caterer arrived, but food was room temperature (appetizer meat balls were cold) and guests still had to wait for food to be hot. Many guests left even before food was ready, bride couldn't cut small cake because guests ended up just taking the cupcakes to go, some in lieu of dinner. Bouquet couldn't be thrown because once dinner was hot enough to eat it was almost 6:00 and most guests were leaving and reception venue was from 3:00 - 7:00. So shortly after eating, it was time to break down table linens and clean up. So very sad for the BRIDE, especially since the company felt they DID NOTHING WRONG and blamed it on the GPS. ABS Cakes and Catering's chef Alswell and helper told me directly that they put the address in the GPS and it said it would take 2 hours to get there. This is unacceptable to be the main part of a couples precious wedding day and to not plan way ahead of time. The caterer has a responsibility to get there extra early! The chef said it would take 2 hours in perfect conditions. All over the news for the previous two days it called for rain, it was a Friday afternoon, coming from Lorton Virginia to the Eastern Shore of Maryland - beach traffic alone would have added traffic time, and there's no excuse! The company should have given at least a 5 hour window since its common knowledge that the beltway traffic in Virginia alone is always mess. Most astonishing, is that ABS Cakes and Catering refuses to refund the bride's money. The bride paid almost $4,000 for the wedding reception catering and I am so sad for the bride whose beautiful wedding day was ruined. It's just wrong that this company feels no compassion for this bride, and I am not one to leave long negative reviews of businesses, but I JUST DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANOTHER BRIDE
