Just placed an order via uber eats for a cake and called bakery to put a message. A human takes the message and ensures she will put the message on the cake. 45 mins later cake arrives without the message. I call the bakery again, first I'm put on hold and have to call 3 times to speak with the owner. Finally, on the 3rd try she says its our policy to not take or write messages on cakes from uber eats. My response- then you should have told me that and not taken my message and I would have canceled the order. Her response- cancel an order for no message? Ofcourse, why would I buy a cake with no message! Karen, Thanks for screwing up a birthday, losing a customer of 2 years or more and an influencer who recommended your bakery to several followers and friends. What an amazing little place this was. This little bakery is situated in a strip with other restaurant establishments and boy, this place was worth the money. They have cupcakes, brownies, cakes, truffles, cookies and also custom cakes for order. I bought a bunch of cupcakes to try out from this place - mango madness, double chocolate chip, hot cocoa and of course, the red velvet. All the cupcakes were just amazing at $2.50 a pop. The mango has that distinctive mango flavor, the chocolate was superb, as was the hot cocoa, and the red velvet was made to perfection. They also have some vegan options for those avoiding dairy. The service was good and all the Covid precautions were in place. There's a huge parking lot outside so you that's sorted out. The cupcakes were delicious and I have no hesitation to recommend this place to anyone wanting to try out some deserts and indulge their sweet tooth. Cakes do make life sweeter! read more

For the inside, she suggested a tuxedo flavor with vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache. Sooo delicious! She did a truly amazing job. They are closed are Sundays and she told my mom she will be willing to drop it off on Sunday (the day of shower) at 10 to her house. Let's just say she never showed, called multiple times and received no response. I did not have any desserts for my baby shower. My mom shows up to the shop, and the lady apologized. My wife was craving cupcakes and we stumbled on this place. I got a lemon curd while my wife and a friend both got cupcakes. The lemon curd was sub-par (always a risk with something like that) and tasted like canned lemon. The cupcakes were awful. They were definitely old. Having grown up making cakes and working in a bakery for several years, these were probably the worst cupcakes I've ever tasted. Dense, dry, flavorless, stale are a few words that come to mind. My friend described them as "cup-muffins," but that was probably too generous. The icing was very dense and just was not good. After spending $9.50 on 3 items, we ended up throwing most of it out. I really wanted to love this place Because it looks so cute and staff was friendly. Google reviews were high and I needed a custom cake for my mom's bday party. So there started my unhappy ending. I stopped in on Sunday thinking I'll buy a small cake to see if it is something my family would like and at the same time decided to pick up some brownies. When I get home I pull out a brownie and bite into a hard rock. Literally shattering in my mouth. It had to be at least 5 days old. So I call the shop and state that I had already driven home and it was too far to drive back and asked if I could take them back the next day and exchange. I was told yes. So when I go in to exchange my brownie I am met with the owner, she first asks me where I live which I found odd. (The brownies were $3, if I can't walk back it's not worth going out of my way to drive there and exchange) then she grabs the brownie and touches it and begins to lecture me on how there is nothing wrong with the brownies and that she doesn't know where I buy my brownies but that is they way they are supposed to be. At that point I was in shock and just wanted to leave. I was given my exchange and left. (the brownie exchange was for fresh not rock hard brownies) I am smart enough to know the difference between a rock and a regular brownie. I didn't even get a chance to tell her that the $20 cake I also purchased was probably 5 days old, dry, stale and not good. Will not be going back. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but my terrible experience with this place compelled me to write one. I really wish there was an option to leave no stars at all & I am really shocked as to how this place is still in business. I'm an event planner and the owner, Karen is an incredibly rude individual, who made it seem like we were burdening her by being customers. She made my bride and groom very uncomfortable with her attitude during the cake tasting. & she has the poorest customer service skills of anyone I've ever worked with in the industry. This was a last minute engagement party for which we hired her to make a cake and to be honest, if there had been any other baker/bakery that was local and available to do the cake for us, we would've never given "Cake Makes Life Sweeter" our business. & now that we look back, it might have been a better idea to get a cake from a Shoprite rather than work with them. It would have been cheaper and tastier for sure. The cake she made was extremely dry and tasteless and the design left us underwhelmed. & to top it off it was very embarrassing for us as we had the whole bottom tier of the cake left over as none of the guest wanted to eat it since it wasn't good. Mind you, she charged us $600+ for this cake, plus we had to provide the flowers for decorating it. Overall, I would warn everyone to stay away from this bakery. It is very overpriced for not very well made and tasteless cakes. They should ideally rename themselves "Cake Makes Life Miserable." read more

Love this place! I have a serious sweet tooth and everything has been really good, super fresh and the staff is really nice too. I love the frosting on the red velvet cupcakes, brownies were great, cookies are great and the cheesecake was delicious. They also have these little cups with a brownie, caramel, and cream that are AMAZING!! I ordered a dozen of those brownie cups for a party but they never left my house; lucky for the party guest I did bring the rest which was cookies, brownies, and tres leches cups which were all gone by the end of the evening and raved about. This is now the only bakery I go to, I have ordered also ordered from them for 2 baby showers and my grandfather's 85th bday. Really great place!!! read more

I had high hopes but i was disappointed. No bagels or pastries when I went in and was told they would make bagels prior to the opening but they don't make them. I wanted to try a sample brownie but they had nuts so i passed. would be a better idea to have the product without nuts as a sample item. so i tried one of each cupcake. i wasn't really impressed sadly. the cake on all of the cupcakes was very dry and the frosting was the same for all of them except the red velvet which was the only highlight and that was just average. icing was just a whipped cream and also wasn't very good to be honest (would assume one would have a buttercream). also for the size of the cupcake it was pretty pricey in my opinion, smaller than what i'm used to. i was so disappointed as i was probably one of the most excited for this to open. the up side was the staff seemed very friendly and welcoming. read more

If i could give zero stars i would, i thought the owner was really nice when i ordered a cake for my daughter's sweet sixteen birthday. I paid in two payments before the cake was even done. when we picked up the cake, it was not exactly from i ordered- but not far off. Anyways, we were instructed to thaw the cake, which we did a half hour before serving; but when we went to serve it, we could not use a cake knife to cut it and had to use a butcher knife. Out of thirty guest, all threw away the cake. The canoli filling tasted sour, the fondont was so thick you had to peel it. When I called on monday to let her know i was displeased with the cake, she only told me it was mine and my guests opinion- saying that she would only refund me five dollars. I did not agree with and upon further dispute, we agreed on an agreement of fifty dollars. She informed me I could pic up the check, but not on Monday since they are closed, so i informed her I would be there on tuesday- which she agreed to. She then called me back five minutes later and told me she would rather make me pick it up that day, which i responded i could not because i was an hour away taking care of my family. She agreed to write a check on tuesday when I picked it up, on tuesday i arrived at 11 am and told her i was there to pick up the check. She told me that she refunded me online without my knowledge. I informed her that i checked my bank account, and that there was no refund. I asked her if she could prove that she could send the refund. When i asked her if she informed me to pick up the check today, she kept telling me different type of stories- which is not what i wanted from a yes or no question. I then called the police, and on the phone with police, she took 50 dollars from the drawer and tried to hand it to me. I informed her i would not take the money until the police got there. I asked her "is this how you run your business from lying and cheating?" in which she responded "Is that how you make your money from lying on your back" and then used the card of if it was because she was brown and i was white. When the police got there she tried to lie again, but i eventually did get my fifty dollars. This is the worse experience i ever had in a professional business. read more
