I ordered an 8-inch, three-layer white cake with buttercream for a friend's birthday party. The cake itself was delicious and beautifully done, and everyone enjoyed it. However, I was surprised by the extra $15 charge when I changed the decoration from a white flower to a gold one -- especially since the flower was fake. It felt hard to justify that price increase for such a small change. My bigger concern was the packaging. For a $100 cake, I expected a much sturdier and more polished box. Instead, the cake came in a flimsy cake box with what looked like part of a garbage bag taped over the corner. I had to carry it up the stairs at the Multnomah Whiskey Library, and I was genuinely nervous about the box giving out. Overall, the cake tasted great and looked lovely, but the value didn't align with the price, mainly due to the upcharge for the fake flower and the very low-quality packaging.
I just happened upon the place while running into a store nearby. I assumed at first glance it was a "special order only" type bakery, but then noticed the cupcake display case so inside I went. They had approximately 10 cupcake options, and since I was just looking for a lil surprise dessert for the hubby and myself, I decided upon the chocolate Oreo and a strawberry with vanilla frosting. The only employee I saw inside was clearly busy prepping but after a minute came over. Hard at work, but wasn't welcoming or very friendly unfortunately. Although the service wasn't sensational, the cupcakes were pretty yummy. Moist crumb and not too dense. The icings were perfectly smooth and (thank goodness) not too sweet. Cute shop, tasty cupcakes...just maybe slap on a smile when the door opens! :)
Great experience! Team did an excellent job creating my cake. Not only did it look amazing, it tasted even better. Everyone was super impressed. Very affordable. We will definitely be ordering again.

Hands down the best cupcakes in Portland, and possibly the best cupcakes I've ever had, period! They've mastered the art of creating the perfect cake texture and flavor with the frosting for a heavenly combo. Their buttercream is to die for! The cake part is super moist (sorry) and has the right amount of flavor without being too sweet. They look unassuming but come in quite a variety of flavors. I got the chocolate raspberry, red velvet and funfetti. I couldn't pick a favorite, honestly. They were all divine. Do yourself a favor and order your cupcakes (and cakes) from here!! You will not be disappointed if you're a cupcake snob like I am! I really wish I would have gone with them for my Baby Shower. I chose Fat Cupcake (regrettably) based on their branding and social media but there is really no comparison in terms of taste.

Oh these cupcakes are amazing. Many times I'm reluctant to spend a little money on a handmade cupcake that's just simple like chocolate and vanilla. These cupcakes are not filled with curd and topped with candied fruit, but what they are is the best tasting cupcake you've ever had. They are the best combination of density, moistness, and flavor. I don't remember how much they were but I don't care I'll pay double. I will definitely be considering this place for my next large cupcake event.
This is the BEST bakery. We have used them at least 3 times. The cake is delicious and all my guests always rave about it. They do beautiful work and copy what you want. They always give me exactly what I ask for. It's incredible.
My boyfriend surprised me with an incredible cake from Cake It for my birthday. It was so beautiful and tasted even better. We did lemon cake with lemon filling. Cake was moist and butter cream was smooth and not too sweet. The decorations were also really pretty with tiny shiny edible pearls. Thank you Cake It for making my birthday taste great this year.
5 stars but if I could give MORE stars I would! :) The owner Pompa was so easy to work with. She helped design a fabulous and delicious cake for both my children's birthdays based on their set themes. She is so creative and detailed with her cakes. She is also highly reliable too. I highly recommend this cake shop for your next party. Thank you for your great customer service! You have earned yourself a loyal customer ;)

Phenomenal service and the cake was beautiful and quite tasty. When I ordered the cake, the owner was extremely polite and helpful thru the process. I have recommended Cake It to several people already, and I will order all future cakes from them. The on-line system is also quite helpful and easy to navigate. Our daughter is a huge Houston Astro fan, and the cake (attached) depicts the logo perfectly. read more

I ordered a dinosaur themed cake from here for a baby (girl) shower. I didn't have a specific design in mind, just showed the owner a few pictures I found online and she came up with an adorable design with a few butterflies and a pink bow for dinosaur! We couldn't have been more please! The cake received several compliments on both the decor and the taste. The cake was moist and flavorful. I thought the price was fair and reasonable. I was looking for an under the sea/mermaid cake for my daughter's birthday and scoured local bakery websites for something that looked like what I wanted. I sent a few Pinterest sample pictures and Cake It did a great job! Not only was it cute but it tasted good too. I would highly recommend for specialty cakes! read more

I was celebrating my son's first birthday in Corvallis, OR and we were looking for a cakery who can make a customized cake. After searching on google and yelp we finally found Cake It. It was a wonderful experience overall..... Called the business to leave message with what we needed and got a call back within 15 minutes. Planning the cake and deciding on what would be best for the occasion was fun as well - Pompa was very knowledgeable and quick to understand our complicated requirement. At the end - the cake sure was a center of attractions and people were eager taking pictures of it. It tasted great as well (I know as I got the largest piece ) Our Mom preserves those pairs of shoes - didn't allow anyone to touch them Thanks a lot for making their day special read more

I ordered a photo of a chocolate treasure chest for my son's birthday party and it surpassed all expectations. It truly was a work of art and everyone that saw it was amazed. I didn't want to cut into it but when we finally did I found it to be the most delicious cake ever. Delicious with the perfect consistency (no small feat with a 6 layer cake!) and frosting I could have eaten by the spoonful (which I did for the week following). Being British I'm hard to please when it comes to baking but I'm still blown away and will be using Cake It for all my cakes going forward. THANK YOU read more

A reasonably-priced and delicious cake! It was very easy to complete an online order- I ended up getting a 6" basketball cake with chocolate cake & raspberry filling; Cake It had it ready the morning of pickup day. Perfect size for 6 people (we still had cake leftover too). Cake was delicious and moist- highly recommend ordering a cake from Cake It! read more

First time we ordered from Cake It. We ordered a custom cake a week before we needed it, communication was great and we appreciated that. I feel that for the amount of fondant on the cake and the high price we paid didn't meet our expectations, that is why we gave it 4 stars not 5. It turn out pretty and it was cute to celebrate our daughters 4th birthday, but for the amount you pay you want the flavor to burst of deliciousness and decorations to be edible and more that a circle on a stick. We probably won't order from here again. But try it first before you purchase a whole cake is my advice. read more

Contacted her on a Monday to order a cake and design for my son's birthday Friday. She delivered and even went an extra mile to put all the musical instruments for my son! We, esp my son LOVE his cake so much! She is extremely easy and pleasant to work with. The cake is beeeauuuutifulll!!!! The best part is, it not only looks good it tastes so good! I read amazing reviews on this bakery and decided to give it a shot! I ordered the unicorn cake with chocolate and vanilla buttercream online and IT WAS SOOOO GOOD! Everyone at my daughters birthday loved it! The cake was moist and the frosting was sweet but not too sweet. Great cake and supporting a local business is a win/win! This shop saved me. I needed a graduation cake for my son and had tried to connect with another baker for two weeks with no result. I called Cake It 3 days prior to my event and they agreed to make the cake, no problem! I ordered red velvet with cream cheese frosting and buttercream outside. The cake was really good, almost Rustic-homemade taste and texture. Everyone loved the cream cheese frosting but not the buttercream. They did some small fondant decorations. I'm giving 3 stars because I just feel the decoration was lacking. I paid $97 for this cake. I paid half that in California for my daughter's cake and hers was much more decorated. Maybe the high price was for the short notice on a high volume week? Either way I'm thankful for their help, great customer service and yummy cake :) read more

I emailed them on Sunday about a cake I needed last minute for Friday, they emailed me back Monday morning and were very responsive. They were able to make a 8" cake for me with a logo added and some dirt on top (I added cake topper myself).. I had emailed some other local cake shops and they were unable to help me saying it was too last minute but were trying to charge me almost double the price for a similar cake. Ridiculous. Glad I found this shop, did a hr drive to retrieve the cake and it was worth it. Got vanilla cake with chocolate ganache filling which was like $6 extra not bad. Everyone loved the cake.
