I'm getting married in March which means everyone keeps telling me to go to Cake Cottage. So me and the Fiance went to look at Arches, Pillow for the Ring, Sand Ceremony vases/glass, a Cake Topper, and any other Wedding stuff that needed. As we walked into the store, we were greeted by two employees. I like being greeted when I go into a store, it's like we're friends. As we browsed around we noticed they had all sorts of cool things: stuff for Bachelorette parties, Baby showers, Proms, Weddings, but majority of the items they sold were stuff to make Cakes. When it came to their Wedding items, they didn't have many items to choose from. They only had about 6 different pillows to hold wedding rings. It would of been nice if they had a wider selection. They didn't have a Wedding Arch, and they only had 2 Sand Ceremony Sets ( they were overly priced for how plain they looked). On the other hand, they did have a big selection of Wedding Cake Toppers, but after looking through the glass cabinet they didn't really have any interracial caked toppers which is very disappointing ( I'm black and my Fiance is White). The only interracial cake topper they had was cake topper with a black groom and a white bride. I kept searching for a black bride and white groom but I couldn't find anything.
On the wall they had two posters of interracial cake toppers that you could special order and change the races. An employee came over and asked if we needed help, we asked her about the interracial cake toppers. She started searching the glass cabinet and my Fiance informed her that their were no interracial cake toppers in there for us. So my fiance pointed out the poster on the wall. The employee looked at the posters on the wall and told us, " I don't think we even have those, or they don't make them any more, i'm not really sure." So the employee told me to call the next day because Tammy would be in and she would know if they carry them or not. As helpful as the employee was, why was there a poster on the wall of a product that you possible don't even have, that false advertising. The employee showed us a wedding catalog, and sent us to the back of the store to look at it. The catelogue had many beautiful cake toppers, but either the bride and groom on the cake topper was white or black. Once again, there was no interracial cake toppers, not even a black Groom and white Bride. We did find one cake topper we liked which stated that you could change the color . My Fiance was wondering if that referred to changing the color of the skin or changing the color of the hair.So I asked the the employee about the cake topper and changing colors. The employee mentioned that for the cake topper we liked can only change the hair color. Well that did us no good because the bride and groom were Caucasian and the bride had blonde hair, i needed a black Bride with Black Hair. I wish the company that makes their cake toppers would realize that there are different types of interracial couples in the world today, and that not all interracial couples are a Black Groom and a White Bride. The employee did feel sorry for us and informed me again that she would have Tammy give us a Call.
I didn't get a call the next day, so i called and left a message because no one answered the phone. But the day after that an employee called my stating that they do not carry the interracial cake toppers that were posted on the wall. So, if your looking for an interracial cake topper, Cake Cottage is not the place, but if you need anything for making a Cake, then Cake Cottage is the place to go. read more
