I'm really not sure where to begin here. My now husband and I live in Colorado Springs and decided we wanted to have our wedding ceremony in Salem since we officially started dating there in October 2020. When we decided to travel to Salem for the wedding, I searched around for cake shoppes and stumbled upon Cake Ann. I cannot express how lucky I am to have found this gem! I was lucky enough to speak to Inga, the owner, and she was so easy to speak to and so kind throughout. During the discussion about what we wanted the cake to look like, I told her I wanted her to have as much create freedom as she wants and showed her our instagrams so she could get a glimpse into who we are. When we arrived to pick up the cake she immediately knew who we were and was so excited to show us the beauty she created. She is a creative genius! After our wedding ceremony and the cake cutting, we got to delve into the cake we all went silent. Why you ask?! Because the cake was SO DELICIOUS AND FLAVORFUL we were speechless. Inga, thank you for playing a critical part in our wedding festivities and helping us create new memories. read more

My mom and I popped into Cake Ann for a coffee and a sweet treat after a whale watch with 7 Seasons Whale Watch next door. We grabbed a couple of cookies (a vegan one for my mom and a great buttery one for me) and a few coffees, which were good, too! It's a charming little spot with lots of seating inside and great customer service, great for a quick stop if you're in the area. read more

We bought a custom cake from cake ann for my mother in law's 80th birthday. The team here was very friendly and easy to work with. I called in the order and the person on the other line was very helpful. The flavors offered exhibited a decent amount of variety including a lemon flavor, which I knew she would love. This ended up being a big hit - both the presentation of the cake and also the taste. We had plenty left to feed our group of 10! read more

Ordered a chocolate cake with salted caramel filling for brothers birthday. Not an ounce of caramel to be seen, just thick, white buttercream. Very dissapointing. Also, not really a criticism, bht design on cake was made entirely of fondant, understandable for complex design but would have liked to have been informed. General bakery is fine. read more

A personally tailored and delicious experience with choosing our wedding cake. Inga created new flavors on the spot based on our favorites and created a two-flavor masterpiece for the big day. They also made a delicious breakfast for our whole wedding party the morning of the wedding and delivered to the hotel. One year later, they pulled off a last minute anniversary cake with one of the same flavors they used for our wedding cake - vanilla cake with lemon custard, fresh whole blueberries and cream cheese frosting. The whole team is professional and a joy to work with. Also can't beat the atmosphere, an inviting seating area with fireplace to warm up with a cup of tea or coffee. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

Been there several times with my wife,we stopped going there,we love your pastry selection, best around, tried a bunch, you have a great location with seating ,great espresso machine, but no brewed coffee machine, , I know it's not your priority but at least get the right equipment &teach your staff how to brew coffee &teach them how to use that espresso machine ,We really want to go back there for a lot of good reasons but not before we can have a good cup of coffee, All it takes is effort read more

Cake Ann made a gorgeous heart-shaped pink birthday cake for my daughter's 40th birthday dinner - absolutely delicious, so pretty, and very reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back to enjoy tea and cake in front of their cosy fireplace! read more

Amazing cupcakes!! We had them at many recent family events. Excellent & very accommodating staff. I highly recommend Cake Ann

We hired Cake Ann for our wedding this past September and they absolutely nailed it (for both style + taste!) My fiance and I had a very specific vision in mind for what we wanted and the Cake Ann team met with us in person and discussed what we were looking for in detail, asked a ton of questions, and were very attentive. Honestly 50% of the reason we chose them after trying a bunch of different places was because of how listened to we felt during our conversation (the other 50% was because of how good their cake tasted!). I'm not kidding - on the spot the team whipped up a new flavor for us to try (a chocolate hazelnut ganache with nutella buttercream) which was a flavor they didn't have on the menu, and we ended up loving it so much we chose it as one of our cake flavors! When we saw the cake at our venue we were over the moon, it was in perfect shape and looked exactly how we had dreamed it would. We couldn't recommend Cake Ann enough! read more

Amazing food and coffee! Cute little shop, not too loud. Right next to the harbor if you are going whale watching.

Great ambiance, service and delicious food choices! Be sure to try their specialty croissant!

We chose Cake Ann for our wedding cake and it was the best decision we could have made! The cake was absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing, we were able to do a cake tasting to choose what flavors we wanted and we decided to go with the chocolate peanut butter and the chocolate caramel and both were amazing! We would highly recommend using them for any event but especially for your wedding you will not be disappointed! Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the cake, and that's all we ever could have wanted for them! Thank you to everyone at cake Ann who baked us the perfect cake for our wedding! read more

The birthday cake was amazing. Every cake wishes it could be this cake. The platonic ideal of vanilla buttercreme frosting coated a moist, four-layer chocolate cake. I posted pictures on Facebook & now friends across the country want to know if Cake Ann delivers. I now want to get married in no small part so Cake Ann can make the cake for the celebration. read more

Went in on Friday to order a birthday cake. Only had a choice of two types of cake. Decided I wanted to give them the business (small local business) so I ordered the cake, asked to have Happy Birthday S&P. Notes were written down, phone number and name taken, paid in advanced. Went on Saturday to pick up cake. The three kids working there could not find my name or number. Finally gave me a cake with no writing on it, too big for box, jury rigged a slanted top. They told me to stick it in the trunk since I was traveling with it. I asked for a bag or something to completely cover it, no they did not have anything. I asked for a plastic garbage bag and wrapped it up myself. Next time back to Market Basket bakery. read more

What a fantastic bakery. My first experience was for my daughter's first birthday, I spoke to Inga on the phone and she helped me design a perfect cake and cupcakes. We also got some savory items, some meat pies (awesome, and quite large), and they were even able to accommodate some GF/vegan requests. Last night my FIL picked up a cake for my husband's birthday, a carrot cake with a yummy frosting. Let me say I was initially skeptical as I'm not a carrot cake fan - I was proven wrong. It was awesome! And the chocolate chip cookies were "the best I've ever had", yes they were that good! We'll definitely be back. read more

I've driven past Cake Ann's sign many times when going to visit my mother - I love that they have cute plazas now with stores, definite improvement from when I lived locally. We finally decided to stop in to try their sausage meat pies on a Sunday morning. First off, wow, just wow at the selection of bakery items. Had I not been very bad just the day before and eaten too many sugary items I would have purchased several from Cake Ann as the variety was awesome. The woman who helped us was very nice. She described the ingredients in the meat pies and they sounded yummy. We bought two and I was impressed with the price (under $10) as I assumed they'd be more. Later that night, we made them and they were so good. Perfectly seasoned with a lot of sausage and just the right amount of potatoes inside. The flaky crust was awesome too. I will for sure be back to buy more (and maybe try some of the naughtier goodies) and really urge you to stop in if you're in the area and looking for quality food! read more

I would rate Cake Ann between 3.5 stars if I could. While I am glad that they are in town and that they use good ingredients, one again, I bought some pastries that were less than fresh. $4 for a somewhat stale tiny, mini roll is a bit much. It would be no problem if they discounted their day old plus items. read more

To start...a little pricey. But, then again I wasn't buying tasty cakes or twinkies!!! I purchased a few various cup cakes and they we really good. You couldn't make them this good. Other reviews claim their cakes are amazing. I wouldn't doubt it! Give it a try read more

The cakes may be great but the blueberry tarts I bought yesterday were far from it. I lightly baked them because the crust seemed soft but it didn't help much. The blueberry filling was a very thin layer of jam. For $3.75 one would expect better. read more

I ordered a birthday cake for 14 people and what I got was one of the most delicious cakes I have ever purchased. We have some chefs in the family and I don't think anybody could've made a cake any better. After 10 people had their fill there was still half a cake left. The price was more than reasonable. I would definitely recommend cake ann, not only for special occasions but also just to bring a cake home for the family. We are fortunate to have them in Gloucester. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Cake Ann. The clerk who waited on me asked me if I was staying or doing take-out. She handed me a ceramic plate and a paper cup for my coffee. I was sitting with a small group, and 2 of us wanted some more coffee. When I returned to the counter to inquire about refills, the clerk told me that she only gives free refills to her regular customers and she didn't recognize me so she refused to give me a free refill. I told her I was local to the area for many years and I've been to the bakery before. I paid for the refill and returned to my seat where I was sitting with a group of friends who ordered coffee and baked goods. Then, the owner stopped by our table and told us that she only gives refills for ceramic cups, not paper cups because to-go cups are larger and hold more coffee. I specifically told the clerk when I ordered that I was staying and she chose to give me a paper to go cup. The refill policy shouldn't be based on who the customer is or which cup the customer has. As a customer, it was very disappointing to be treated this way. My group agreed that in the future we would find another breakfast place to frequent. read more

Very cute little bakery in Gloucester. It's a little out of the way in a nondescript shopping center, but it's definitely worth the visit!

This little bakery had the most delicious quiche and hand pies! They were very accommodating and friendly. I'm so happy I finally made my way over, it will definitely be a go-to stop for sweets and treats. read more

Inga and the entire crew at Cake Ann were a joy to work with on our wedding cakes. She was so generous with her time and helping us come up with the perfect menu for our guests. The quality of the carrot cake, chocolate ganache, and fig and earl grey tea cake was just through the roof! Our guests are still raving about how delicious they were. Trust me we've tried MANY wedding cakes and hers are by far the top level. Quality, taste and presentation-Cake Ann will be our go-to for our special occasions from now on! read more

My fiance, his mother, and I came to Cake Ann to do a wedding cake tasting with the owner Inga. She was great, fun to talk to, and the cakes were even better! She had us try so much cake and really listened to our likes and dislikes to try to find exactly what we wanted. Her prices are very reasonable and everything she had us try was fabulous. She even sent us and my future mother in law home with boxes full of treats! I can't wait to see how my wedding cake comes out. Side note - If you go to Cake Ann you have to try the kouign amann, it's the best pasrty I've ever had! I highly recommend her! read more

Incredibly beautiful and delicious cakes, cupcakes and more. It's a great spot to grab a scone and coffee (or try a meat pie made with Trupiano's turkey sausage). If you are looking for a cake for a special occasion, this is your place. Made with real ingredients, delivering real flavor, and beautiful to look at. Another great dessert is the bread pudding made with their delicious Kouign-amann, they'll even make it in your own dish! Cake Ann is a must try! read more

This was my first experience ordering a cake from Cake Ann, and unfortunately it was not entirely positive. I ordered a simple birthday cake for my daughter's birthday. I ordered a chocolate cake with white buttercream frosting that said Happy Birthday Mommy. (My grandchildren wanted that written on the cake.) I ended up with a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache frosting (way too much chocolate for the kids), and nothing was written on the cake. Also, The person waiting on us had difficulty finding the order because it had been misplaced in the computer. Hopefully this was just one glitch for Cake Ann and others will have a more positive experience. read more

Cake Ann agreed to do a last minute vegan cake for our wedding. It was beautiful and tasted amazing.

Inga made our wedding cake for our wedding aboard a local schooner, and the whole process of tasting, picking a cake, and the end result were all amazing. She was so kind, accomodating, thoughtful, and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect for us. She mixed up some amazing flavors on the spot for us to try, including an out of the box cardamom and orange flower water combo that was absolutely delicious. We ultimately decided on an almond and raspberry cake which was moist, flavorful, and elegant. Everything was perfect, fresh, and put together just right and our guests were so impressed with the cake. Cake Ann not only creates amazing cake (which they most certainly do) but Inga has been amazing to work with and we felt so cared about throughout. By the way, everything else in the shop tastes amazing too. I had to buy a few cupcakes and other treats every time I stopped in to talk to Inga, and swung by a few more times on top of that. I will definitely be back for more next time I'm in Cape Ann!!! read more

We used Cake Ann as our wedding cake baker for our wedding in September 2019. What really stood out to me about this baker over others was the passion of this bakery and the quality of their ingredients. Our wedding cake was a beautiful buttercream cake with four tiers. It was perfectly positioned and had differing sized tiers as requested which looked extra dramatic. The simple, yet elegant buttercream was gorgeous and was stunning with the roses, greenery and succulents I had brought in by our florist to go on each tier. The cake itself was DELICIOUS! Wedding cakes can be weirdly not that great or just too out there, but I truly LOVED the quality of our cake. The chocolate cake itself was rich, moist and delicious even before adding in the salted caramel frosting. The vanilla cake had a classic pound cake-like texture which was a perfect base for a berry and lemon curd spread. Lastly, we had a layer of spice cake which is my husband's favorite type of cake. The cake was light and fluffy with a cinnamon and spice flavor that was well balanced with a cream cheese frosting. All these decadent flavors were wrapped in a perfect buttercream frosting. The owner was so easy to work with, delivered on time and prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this vendor! read more

Who goes into a bakery and gets handed a warm cookie? Well, it happened to us! Delicious cookies, wonderful and friendly staff !

I recently bought a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and it was a big hit with everyone. The cake was very moist and the frosting was light and yummy. I also bought some granola there and had to go back and pick up more within 2 days because it quickly got gobbled up. I highly recommend the bakery, the staff are personable and conscientious.
