Get ready to let the good times roll when you walk through the door, the sign above the counter…read moresays "Welcome to Cajun Paradise, I'm with couyon" being born and raised in southwest Louisiana I can definitely get the meaning in the correct context, I can also recognize authentic Cajun cooking when it's put down in front of me and mais sha let me tell you these folks are doing it proud. We stopped in here for lunch and ended up with a sampling of what in my opinion is probably the best example of cajun food done right in Houma and for miles around - everything was delicious and the service from Sarah L was outstanding. We started with the Charbroiled Oysters served with toasted french bread, the plump Louisiana oysters were succulent and dipping the french bread in the cajun butter became an obsession, definitely a must do starter - I wasn't leaving here without trying their chicken and sausage gumbo, perfect texture and complex flavors it will make you a believer, my hats off to the chef, definitely authentic - the fried catfish filets and jumbo fried shrimp platters were outstanding although we didn't do it these are the foundation of an amazing po-boy (maybe next time) - all the sides were exceptional from the fried okra and onion rings to my personal favorite the skillet fried potatoes and who could leave without a few beignets served hot covered in powdered sugar - what a meal they should have a place to lay down in the back for a "cajun nap". In my opinion if you craving some authentic cajun dishes you can't go wrong here, the portions are nice and the prices are very reasonable. Our schedule didn't allow us to return as we had planned but will definitely return when we are back in the area...

Lots of props for photo ops and a giant chair which was so cute. There was also a wonderful Elvis tribute singer who literally sounded like Elvis. What a voice. Also shout out to the little kid who performed bc he was amazing! The food was also so good. I got the red fish and it was cooked perfectly and topped with a cream sauce which I loved. Also really yummy French fries. The margarita was also really tasty especially for being on special! Potato salad needs more mayo but other than that zero complaints. Can't wait to go back!

The oysters were well-spiced and pleasingly crunchy. The onion rings were cut too thin for my liking but had good flavor. My wife had the Seafood Nachos. These were very fresh and crunchy wedge-shaped nachos, topped with shrimp and crabmeat, cheese sauce and sour cream. I tried one and it was delicious. Our nearby friends all were pleased with their meals. The only complaint I can report, and it is major, is the amount of time it took for several of our diners to get their food. The lady to the right of me and her guest had to wait at least 20 minutes from order to being served. The woman sitting to the left of my wife had to wait 25 minutes. I was finished eating when they finally got their food. At least 2 other diners had the same experience. That is unacceptable!

There's a bunch of fresh fruit and vegetables for sale as well, and some nice decor for the home and all. Just looking for a snack, a real bite to eat, fresh produce for the house, this is a good spot for sure. I finally decided to try some of their real food so I called in a shrimp poboy and fries. I must say the shrimp poboy is definitely up there with the best I've ever had. They had a great amount of mayo, and the lettuce and tomato were fresh from a garden you can tell which made the sandwich much better than going to a chain restaurant or something of that sort. Poboy is pretty big with plenty of shrimp, fried perfectly, great bread selection too. Now the fries...the saltiest fries I've ever had in my life. You can zoom in on the picture and count every grain of salt on each French fry. I love salty foods but I couldn't even handle these fries. Otherwise, this would've been a perfect 10/10 meal. It was $21 with a large fountain drink. I will definitely be back for more food.
