Super chill. Great coffee, baked goods, and would loved to have come back later for some beers.

This used to be my favorite coffee shop, but I was so disappointed with the refurbishing, which has made it rather into a lunch bar.

If you…read moredon't have a big appetite, you might be a little concerned as the main courses are quite generous, but I think you'll be able to finish them as they're so tasty. I enjoyed my time here. Elias Mat & Sant is located in the sentrum, Oslo's city center, so is walking distance to many sites and attractions. I visited here after walking from the palace along Karl Johans Gate as the restaurant is located off this main drag. Make reservations here for the restaurant is small and intimate. It was time to try reindeer while in the Nordic region of the world, so here I did. I ordered the reindeer stew, which was delicious. The reindeer stew was similar to a beef stew, but the reindeer is leaner, so didn't taste as heavy, which is a good thing. Over some mashed potatoes with a gravy and herbs and a side of lingonberry, it completed the meal. It also came with a side of complimentary bread, which is not always the case at other restaurants. That was a nice bonus though because the bread helped soaked up the stew. Perfection!

This popular casual seafood restaurant is just a short walk from Oslo Central Station. We came for…read morean early dinner around 4:15P on a Saturday and the restaurant was already mostly full inside. The setup includes tall tables, booths, a few seats at the bar and several patio tables outside, though it was unfortunately raining during our visit. The host initially seated the four of us at the bar, which was tight, but at least it had a nice view into the kitchen! Once a booth opened up, he offered to move us and we were much more comfortable. The most popular menu item here is the fish and chips, but our waiter said he loves the cod croquettes and that was all it took to convince me since you don't see those on just any menu. + COD CROQUETTES: Five crispy golden croquettes were fried to perfection with a rich creamy cod filling. They were served atop a bold red pepper purée, drizzled with a savory aioli and finished with shredded cheese. The red pepper sauce added a fantastic warmth that really elevated the dish, and the portion size was just right. + CUCUMBER SALAD: A large portion of sliced cucumbers (and another crunchy veggie I couldn't identify) was tossed in a sesame oil dressing. This was so refreshing and crisp, cutting through the richness of the croquettes. We easily split it between the four of us. The only other veggie option was green salad. My sister got the ceviche, which is a lighter entrée. She liked the fish, but said it was extremely citrusy, more than she expected. There were also some tough corn-like pieces which she put to the side since they were too difficult to chew. Service throughout our meal was warm and attentive; our waiter regularly checked on us and even brought an extra bottle of water when he noticed ours running low. Overall, I loved my croquettes, the salad was delicious, and the staff's hospitality made this a memorable final dinner in Oslo!

The pork is melt in your mouth and the egg is cooked well. The amount of vegetables is alright because we don't expect a whole grocery store in our simple ramen soup. So far the ones that we have tried are the shoyu, miso and spicy variants of the ramen. We have nothing negative to say about the food or the staff. The staff is friendly and to the point. They always repeat the order so you know that they got it right. They sound off when the soup is done so you clearly know when it's your turn. I don't really want to recommend this place because then more people will come, and we might have to wait longer when we get the craving next, but please do go if you would like to try the ramen. Highly recommended. Finally a good ramen spot in Oslo!

The broth was a bit salty for my liking. Noodles were perfect, the size, the texture and firmness of the noodle was just how I like it. The meat was tender and melted in your mouth, the boiled egg yoke was overcooked. I like it when it's still soft. Gyoza was mostly meat, no veggies. Wouldn't order them again as I like my gyoza with more veggie and less meat. Service was quick. Parking is indoors, which is very advantageous for the cold months. Take the elevator up and you don't need to go outside! They share space with an Indian restaurant. There is a coat hanger and it's spacious. I would definitely come back here.

You can also have fish or other things you might be used to if that's not what you're into. I personally opted for the fish. This is usually a clear sign that something is amiss. We were seated in a long table section and our menu had been pre-ordered ahead of time. We could either order the salmon or the game stew. The meal included a beer or wine as well. When one person in our group asked for a simple cup of hot water, the server flatly refused and said it wasn't part of the agreed upon menu. Another person asked if she could change her dessert because she was a diabetic. Again, we got a complete refusal to be accommodating. The food was decent, but nothing worth putting up with cold, unhelpful, and indifferent service for. I can see why the locals don't eat here.
