He absolutely made our day. We were jet-lagged and bleary-eyed, but spending time with him wiped that away, and the food - which was absolutely excellent - helped send us on our way to sleep. We had lunch there again today (that's how smitten we are), and we had the great fortune of meeting Emma who was a bright light in our day. She too has a marvelous sense of humor, and she treats all the customers with kindness, interest, and true attention - a trait that is so lacking in our time of everyone being glued to a cell phone. We adore the pub and will return during our five days here in Montreal. The food is great, and the people make the experience stellar.

The service was friendly and accommodating throughout the evening. The pub setting is lively, so it can get loud, but the food is exactly the hearty, comforting English pub fare you'd hope for. I had the beef pie, which was very satisfying. My wife had the chicken tikka masala, a generous portion that she thoroughly enjoyed. Our son had the steak frites, and the fries were really good. The steak was cooked perfectly, though it could have used a touch more seasoning. One tip: it gets very busy here, so be sure to reserve a table, as walking in is no guarantee. We saw several people turn away after leaving their name with the hostess, so a reservation is the way to go. A lovely place, and we're glad we came.

She was happy to see deep fried pickles on the menu and I saw that they had deep fried Mars Bars. Since I don't see myself visiting Glasgow any time soon this was my chance to finally try it. We shared a pitcher of sangria between us and that was great as well. Between the steak, fries, pizza, the deep fried pickles and Mars bar, there wasn't a complaint between us. Also it really helped that they were playing Brit-music like The Clash and Big Country. Nice to know that there's a decent place in Verdun to get a drink, meet a friend and listen to some sick tunes.
