I have been dying to go to Mad & Kaffe (literally translates to Food & Coffee) since I got to…read moreCopenhagen. I finally got to try it on my last day, at the Frederiksberg location, that just recently opened up. The other two locations are always busy, but because this location is still very new, we were able to get seated at the busiest brunch time, at 10:30am. There are menus and pencils at the entrance, and there are options of doing a 3-course, 5-course, or 7-course meal. You check off what you want, from a range of greens, dairy, bakery, meat & fish, and treat of the day. My family and I decided to each choose 3 items, for 89kr ($13). The 5 item choice is 129kr ($20), and the 7 item is 154 ($24). The server takes your drink order. Food: Avocado with Beetroot Hummus: the hummus was amazing and very aesthetic. My sister hates beets, but she said it was one of the best hummus she's ever tried. Blueberry Yoghurt with Musli and Berries: Musli is like a granola that European people eat like a cereal, so it's not overly sweet. The yogurt was very good, and the combination was very nice. Homemade Cream Cheese with Sourdough: The cream cheese was so so so good. It was like a whipped cream cheese, and my sister pointed out that it tasted like pickles - which sounds really weird, but it was amazing. Scrambled Eggs with chives & mushrooms: Soft scrambled. Not much taste. 2 Organic Fried Eggs with Chives: Again, not much taste, but good nonetheless. Fried Chorizo with BBQ Ketchup: SO delicious. Europeans take their sausages very seriously, so any sausage you get in Denmark will probably be very good. I'm not a big fan of ketchup, but this BBQ ketchup was so good with the chorizo. Smoked Salmon: Really good, but nothing special. Chia Buttermilk Pudding: Super delicious. Not too sweet because it's made with buttermilk, and the sweet biscuits and berries complemented the flavors a lot. Drink: Carrot Apple Ginger Juice - 37kr ($6) for a small. My dad ordered this, and it was very good - very gingery taste. I would never order it for myself, but I ended up drinking like half of it.

i'm mad about this place! Never mind the fact that all of the waitresses were your typical Danish…read moresupermodels who are just simply the normal population, brimming with good cheer, a sense of humor, and a fleet efficiency. But the food was really great!! You get a little checklist and a pencil and you check off five or eight items and I checked off I believe it was scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage as well as this rhubarb raspberry berry concoction dessert at the end which is tremendously good. The coffee was sublime. Think I also had an espresso-tini, which drive the entire cost up to $50. There was also delicious bread. The whole place had that communal type of vibe that I so enjoy about Danish cafés. I asked one of the staff super- models about the little Danish flags that some of the tables had and her explanation was kind of convoluted, but I believe I understood it. Whenever there's a celebration of any kind - anything from a birthday, to someone starting a new job, to someone having a child, etc., Danes love to have a flag involved! Go here!

The server seated us RIGHT next to another pair of people all the way in the back of the restaurant…read morealthough ALL of the other tables were open. It was strange that they did that. Most dishes were good, especially the chicken nugget. I would also recommend the broccolini which was a refreshing veggie to have. Everything was unfortunately a bit too salty. There was a chia tiramisu that I thought was the best part of the meal.
