The breakfast plate is really recommendable! It comes with different cheese, sausage, Serrano ham, fruits, avocado and three different kind of dips: hummus, apricot chili chutney and peas AND one more highlight: pancakes The avocado plate wasn't that "loaded" but it comes on the typical danish bread and Omelett so all together it's very loading Waiters are very nice and accommodating. read more

I was in Copenhagen for two days and went to sidecar both mornings for breakfast. I was lucky enough to get the brunch on a weekend morning, and it was incredible. All of the food was fresh and delicious. I think they have the best scrambled eggs I've ever had and definitely the best chia pudding I've ever had. Speaking of chia pudding, this is the perfect place to go if you have dietary restrictions. There are plenty of dairy free and gluten free options. If you're an American visiting Denmark, I would caution you against being critical of the service industry here. The sense of urgency that is common practice in restaurants in the US, is not at all felt in Scandinavia. Servers are not being intentionally inattentive, but you should expect your meal to take significantly longer than what you're accustomed to. I would go back to sidecar in a second, and I can't wait to attempt to replicate the raspberry chia porridge at home! read more

We had a great breakfast here the other day. My boyfriend and I ordered the breakfast plate (149kr) as well as an acai bowl to share (59kr). Breakfast plate, although pricey, was a huge portion with a lot of variety - yogourt bowl with granola, bread, mini pancakes, scrambled eggs, avocado with almonds, cheese slices, hummus, and small portions of sausage and bacon. Everything was very good, I especially liked the sausage and bacon which tasted like really good quality. I've never seen this sort of breakfast platter at home in Canada so really loved the variety (plus the instagrammable prettiness of the platter)! Acai bowl was good, quite tart and topped with sliced almond, berries, and pomegranate. Last but not least I liked the fancy water dispenser at the counter - water flavoured with lemon and cucumber that was delicious and for which we weren't charged extra (a treat in Copenhagen)! Came here to try their 'World Vegan Day' menu as party of Yelp's Vegan Vikings week. We ordered 2 x Vegan breakfast board and each received a free coffee of our choice made with oat milk since we checked in with the Yelp app. The vegan breakfast board was so great and tons of food! It included: sliced avocado topped with almonds, bean and tomato salad with fresh herbs, hummus with spices, fresh grapefruit and orange slices, tons of rye bread, and chia pudding made with soy/coconut milk with mango/apple/vanilla compote and fresh berries. What made this breakfast board so great to me was that each item was great on its own. It was also the perfect mix of sweet and savory foods. My absolute favorite item was definitely the chia pudding though - I think it's the best one I've had in Copenhagen so far. The fruit compote was amazing and so fresh. After breakfast we stayed in the cafe to do some studying. It's a really great place to linger with/after your coffee/breakfast. The wifi is good, tables are spacious and there's free water flavored with fruit. I hope they decide to keep their vegan items on their menu permanently because I would definitely come back to have them again. I found this place thanks to Yelp. There was a check in bonus. I was there with my mini Yelp group (4ppl) for lunch and we had fun! The interior is modern, rustic, designed with reuse - reloved materials. I like the corners, or hiding places, where you can find yourself very comfortable. I like the table just by the window with lots of pillows most- or the corner close to the counter. It's a really cosy place. We all ordered almost the same. Spinach waffles and tomato waffles. Both were excellent! Of course I nibbled from everything. My portion was 2 waffles with avocado and sunny side up egg. I'm a big egg eater and I like them nicely soft, but warm. And it was just perfect! Really yummy. The portion was big enough. We all had a juice (it was part of the check in bonus). I ordered a green one. The juice was good too. At the end I ordered cappuccino. Surprisingly it his was one of the best cappuccino (close to flat white) since last month! After I got and tasted the coffee, I was definitely sure I should rate this place 5*. We all had computers and were working, so this was not a common lunch, but they made it really well. This place was really busy during lunch. I was happy to see they had enough business. I'm living really close to this place and I never stopped by before! I'm definitely going back soon. On sunday morning I went to Sidecar for the first time to have brunch with my girlfriend, and this is seriously one of the best brunches I have had in Copenhagen. The small and inexpensive dishes made it possible to try many different treats. My girlfriend had a salmon mouse, a skyr with granola and some delicious scrambled eggs and I had an avocado on a piece of rye bread, and a pile of blueberry pancakes with bacon. Three plates for each of us was the precise amount of food to make us full and we had a delicious juice (32 kr) and a very, very good cup of cortado at only 25 kr, which is pretty cheap in Copenhagen. The total price was 230 kr for six disches, a cup of coffee and a juice and it definitely compete with all other cafés serving brunch in the city and it beats most on decor, service, food quality and selection. Now it is a few days after and I am back to have an other cortado and a piece of raspberry pie, both of which live up to the brunch in the weekend. I can sit here and work while listening to soothing jazz music. I think this will be my new go-to spot and I love that they also are open in the evening from Thursday to Saturday serving drinks and the delicious Korean Baos from Mao Bao. read more

Went to their event "Baos and Jazz" and had a go at Mao Bao's bao selection. The service was really pleasant and nice, and we actually got a table right away (lucky us since everything was booked). We ordered the red braised pork, the fried chicken and the beer battered cod. Personally we were big fans of the chicken, which went well with the kimchi, and the beer battered cod's flavor with the Asian tartar sauce. We added the bulgogi to our order, which was over the top delicious. Perfectly cooked meat, and a lot of it for the romaine leafs. We didn't have to be picky with the amount on each leaf. I'm a little bit jaded when it comes to cafe/cocktail bars and brunch places in Copenhagen at this moment, so when I found myself making reservation for Sidecar on a Thursday evening, it's all because of Maobao. Yes, the pop up guabao sellers are "occupying" Sidecars every Thursday, Friday, Saturday. It's good that they do, since we miss them from the time when they were around in various street markets in Copenhagen in the summer. Just make sure you book a table (via phone or FB message) since the place can get busy on those days. Sidecar itself is nice, big and spacious, with seats decorated with pillows making the place looking the standard hyggelig found in many Danish cafes. Although the place got our reservation wrong (only for 3 when we said four), the waitress quick accommodated our request. So far so good. She brought the menu and explained how it works with Maobao menus. Got it. We ordered the starter with 6 deep fried shrimps in chili mayo, four pork belly baos, 3 fried chicken and 3 aubergine baos, along with 3 dumplings, two cocktails and two beers. Here where I started discounting the stars I would give to this place. FIRST - the drinks took forever to arrive in our table. I get it that you have to make the cocktails first, but beer? Come on. Maybe because it's the guys who ordered beer, and we - the girls ordered cocktails that you want to send all drinks at the same time? Fine. My favourite to-go-bar for cocktail - Mikropolis - never takes too long to make cocktails. The waitress came out and apologised that the drinks took so long and promised us they would arrive while keep replacing our soon-depleted bottle of water since there's no alcohol around. Meh. SECOND - The food took forever as well! Oh my god. I don't know whose fault it is - sidecar or maobao, but when they were out there selling on the street, it took max 5 minutes for them to get our guabaos ready. It's street food, after all, some form of fast food that isn't burger and fries. The shrimp starter did arrive quick, but they consists of 6 minuscule deep fried shrimps. Fair enough for 30kr, but they did nothing to sate our hunger We were starving and Mina K started chewing her licorice stick on her cocktail. Haha! But when the food arrived (the first batch of pork belly baos), they were good. Like awesomely good. It's different kind of baos that they sell on the street. They only had shredded / pulled pork baos back then, but this is a square-ish chunk of pork belly that has great flavours. Me like. I quickly realised that I needed one more and was afraid that an extra bao would take forever, but my extra pork bao came relatively fast. ....and after that we started the waiting game for next batch of guabaos (the fried chicken and the aubergine). To sum it up, I'm swaying between three and four and ends up in three. Although the food is fantastic (aubergine baos are totally recommended but you must definitely try the pork belly!), I can't give this place four simply because of the time spent waiting for the food. Don't get me wrong, the waitresses/waiters are friendly and our bottles of water are refilled all the time - but we simply need our drinks and food without waiting too long. Shape up, Sidecar! If I could do it over I would come back for their fancy schmancy weekend brunch buffet and platter thing....because right now I'm underwhelmed. The space itself is decently cute, but nothing that would stop me dead in my tracks and allure me to enter. I came here after hearing rave reviews from a fellow foodie, so I was expecting to be blown away. It was a Wednesday at around 13.00 and it was pretty busy, full of people enjoying brunch together and a bunch of individuals with their laptops out and working. This excited me because I had been looking for a casual cafe to work in, long after my meal was over. Their brunch plates sounded and looked really beautiful and delicious but I was just one person and wasn't ready to commit to an entire 3000 course meal for ~150 dkk so I just ordered the two eggs over rye bread (which came with avocado, chives, and bacon). Honestly, I wanted this to be really good. It didn't sound like that would be too hard since they had some winning ingredients, but their fatal flaw was the overcooked egg. Yes, the bread was great, the chives were great, and their bacon was...well...bacon (so, great). But the egg was just not runny and did not create that beautiful, rich, luscious yolky sauce that I could just bathe in, over my plate. I'm sure people like their eggs prepared that way but those people are objectively wrong. The dish also could've used a lot more salt. When I got a bite of the bacon it felt fine but there wasn't enough bacon on the dish to compensate for the underseasoning. The service was incredibly warm and friendly, though...so I think I'll come back and try their brunch. Can't resist a good insta or a good buffet. read more

Sidecar is one of many brunch places on my to-eat list for the next 4 months I'm here, and I'm afraid that it might've set the standard far too high. Price: 4/5. It's my first weekend brunch buffet, so I wasn't sure about spending 149dkk on a single meal if I want to stick to my student budget. After experiencing the brunch buffet though, it's worth every kroner. I also had a smoothie for 42dkk, but quantity/value to price ratio wasn't worth it. Service: 4/5. We came in around 1pm, nearing the end of the brunch buffet period, but they were consistently bringing out fresh food. They're definitely understaffed, maybe 3 servers for a busy and packed place, but they were all pleasant and professional! Food: 5/5. Oh my god, what /wasn't/ there? One of my go-to places, they have few options but they are all delicious. I discovered this due to my love for waffles, there is always a waffle meal one has to try! Originally it was their spicy tomato waffles, now they have a mexican version which is just as yummy. I find their menu slightly confusing, in that it has only some dishes available during weekdays, and of those, some all day, some only in the afternoon... and they are quite strict with their times, as in: if we serve it from 11.30 and you get here at 11.15 you best believe you need to wait 15 min to order it.... only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating otherwise :) read more

Out of this world brunch for a fabulous price! This is much classier than the American style brunch featuring dishes permanently reheating over steno heaters. Dishes (most of them delicious vegetarian offerings) are laid out on wooden boards in a central area and continually replenished. Fantastic salads, and the bacon and eggs that come with the part you order is fantastic. My personal fave was toasts set up with delicious cheese and tomatoes and pesto sauce. I'd been meaning to try Sidecar for months and I finally made it a few weeks ago and the wait was 100% worth it. The atmosphere so hyggeligt and I could easily spend hours hanging out here with a good book or a group of friends. I came for lunch on a weekday and ordered their summer salad while my friend had the vegan breakfast sampler. Everything was incredible! I loved all of the flavors of my salad and my friends breakfast plate did not disappoint - I was a bit envious that she got to try so many different things so I will order that next time. In addition to their normal menu, they also have a pop-up Bao place takeover at dinner time and I've heard great things. Great Saturday brunch! What a wonderful place to have our last meal in Copenhagen. Everything was delicious. The center table(see picture)was filled all sorts of yummy goodness. It had several bread options, Brie cheese, hummus, house made jams, salads and things on toast. I'm sure I'm missing somethings. On top of all that we had some scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and mini pancakes topped with fruit delivered to our table. I have also submitted the menu for the brunch as well. Visiting from California with a severe nut allergy, I was very nervous about eating out in Denmark. Luckily for me, the staff at Sidecar spoke perfect English and also completely understood severe allergies. The waitress said they use a lot of peanuts, and asked a couple questions to better understand just how sensitive my allergy is. When I explained I can't even have cross-contamination, she went back to check with the chef. She came back and was very open and honest. She explained it was best not to dine with them due to the high risk of cross-contamination. She apologized profusely, but it was unnecessary as her honesty was truly appreciated. We decided to have cocktails there since that was safe and the menu looked good. I had the Leaves Me Alone, a delicious, refreshing mix of rum, ginger beer, chili, and other components I can't recall. It was so good! After reading all the good reviews, I have to say that I was a little disappointed. Important to note that I came here specifically for Maobao at dinner. It seems the positivity is for the brunch. The place looks oddly empty; I think they could put a couple more tables but they probably wouldn't be able to handle it considering how our night went. We ordered only bao, no special dietary considerations, and it took quite a while for them to get to us! I had a cocktail to enjoy while I was waiting, which was Raspberry Licorice. Maybe it's due to my cold but I couldn't taste much licorice even though there was a whole stick of it. I was chewing the stick to get the full licorice experience, not because I was starving, Eva K. :P I will have to give the cocktails another go when I'm well, I didn't feel that it was worth 89 kr, especially when Gilt is just down the street. When the first course (pork bao) finally arrived, we hungrily tucked in. This was the winner for me with just the right fat-to-meat ratio and a slightly crispy skin. Would have been even better if it was crispier. Eva K. ordered one more pork bao after we each ate one and even though our order took ages, her extra bao came out in a few minutes. After another long wait, the rest of our bao came out all at once. The fried chicken bao was very good and even though the kimchi wasn't great it went well with the bao as a whole, cutting through the fat with nice sour flavour. Kimchi also would have gone well with the others. The aubergine dish fell short for me, which is sad because it is the only vegetarian option and I normally love aubergine. The texture was good but it was sorely missing seasoning. The pickled daikon(?) inside helped but it wasn't spread evenly on the bao so you only got it in half the bites. Our servers were apologetic about the wait times and smiling and polite throughout our meal. I loved getting Maobao as street food during the summer, which was consistently good with fast service. I understand that it is not the same bao (shredded pork) and working in a brick-and-mortar kitchen is different, but this is a restaurant and you have to serve food at a steady pace. That being said, I'm giving 3.5 stars and would like to try again. read more

I came here hopnig to get their brunch plate, but we unfortunately came too late so we could only have lunch. I didn't realize most of the dishes are vegetarian, so we found the one dish with meat which was a yummy pesto pasta where we added some chorizo. The cafe is cozy and very Nørrebrø, however, I wasn't overly impressed. I have many other cafes I frequent more regular that I believe has a better menu and atmosphere, but I think I need to try it again during brunch. read more

I keep coming back to Sidecar - it's such a hidden gem! The quality of the food is really good for the price, and the atmosphere of this place makes it one of my favorite cafés/bars/casual dining places in Copenhagen. I took my parents and grandparents there when they visited, and they loved it too!
