    Whiskey/Peanut/Celery Drink

We wanted a nice quiet cocktail bar after dinner. This place delivered. Not too crowded and an extensive list of classic and progressive cocktails. Humberto is really on to something here. He greets everyone with a smile and provides exceptional service. Wife had the Clover Club and it was very good. I had the Pine Sazerac and the Catcher in the Rye. The Pine Sazerac was a classic sazerac with a twist. The flavors blended very well together. Presentation was excellent down to the edible pine cones and the glass with a broad head embedded in the glass. The Catcher in the Rye sounded weird at first, but after the first sip it all made sense. I explained to Humberto that I typically don't care for peated whiskies, so he had the bartender tone down the peat even though it is just a spray in the glass before the drink is poured. Wish we had more time in Copenhagen so we could have gone back one more night, but we wanted to explore more places during our short stay.

My first stop in Copenhagen after dropping off my bags at my hotel around the corner. And what a great intro to the wonderful world of cocktail bars the city boasts. It's dark, sexy, very French noir (for the owner, though, that means Capone-era American gangster - there's even an ode to the man in their WiFi password). There's two sitting rooms, delicately upholstered seating with a little more light if you want to see your cocktails or drinking companions. Then there's also the sultry bar area with a couple of two tops and stools right up at the bar. The trinkets that lace the bar holding the various bar accoutrements prove that every little detail was masterfully thought out to tie back into the theme. But, without being kitschy. The cocktail menu is impressive and lengthy, so be sure to peruse it carefully before settling on one, as there's bound to be an equally exciting one on the next page. Definitely stay for more than one drink, that's for sure. I got to play with my drink, Doctor's Orders, which came with a syringe of a sherry-like wine to inject into my cocktail as I saw fit for a little shot of sweetness. The owner is Portuguese and a doll. He engaged with me immediately, and as a solo drinker, that was greatly appreciated. As I made (read: drank) my way through other cocktail bars in the city, one thing is for sure, Curfew always came up as a big time player on the scene.

As soon as I walked in, I knew I was going to love Curfew. After a lot of walking around the city, we just wanted to have a nice cocktail to end the night and relax. That was exactly what we got! The bartender warmly welcomed us and said we could have a seat anywhere. We sat down on a comfy couch and were served right away with cucumber water and menus. Our waiter/bartender was so nice and very knowledgable about the menu. We ordered a First Aid and Old Fashioned and both were on point. The drinks were mixed extremely well and the flavors were very well balanced. The First Aid was super refreshing! Our bartender checked on us a few times and near the end of our night, he asked where we were from and also gave tips for what to do and see in Copenhagen! Curfew is a must! I will definitely be back whenever I am in Copenhagen again! (I also want to point out that the music playlist was perfect!)

One of the finest cocktail experiences in a city now brimming with them. Award-winning recipes combined with elegant vintage decor and jazzy soundtrack equal a very memorable hand pricey) night out. And if you're just lucky enough you might get to enjoy intoxicating spirits from secret, hidden places. Sit at the bar, see Martin and see where your night takes you.

First Aid and Eucalyptus martini. Both were phenomenal!

Curfew was a magical experience and one of our most memorable while in Copenhagen. It is a beautiful space with a speakeasy/prohibition theme and atmosphere. But unlike other bars who try to achieve this, Curfew is surprisingly authentic from the attention to detail in every piece of decoration to the real vintage bar tools being used at the bar, right down to the space's true history from World War II. The place is elegant while cozy and the type of place you can easily spend 3-4 hours in without even realizing. The cocktails are the key. And Humberto has crafted a menu of pure genius with the blending of flavors that will blow your mind. This is not where you come to have a rum and coke and get a cheap buzz. This is a bar you come to be amazed by mixology brilliance, settle in for the night and enjoy good times with friends. We are from Chicago and have been to some of the most acclaimed bars in the city (Violet Hour, Aviary, The Office, etc) and Curfew belongs in that very same company. What sets Curfew apart from these others is the personal experience. We were lucky enough to visit on a Thursday night with a smaller crowd and had a seat at the bar. Humberto was the only bartender until about 9pm and we had a wonderful time chatting with him. Such a humble man who didn't even let us know he was also the owner until much later in the night. He was happy to tell us his story and we enjoyed the evening immensely. Even on weekends, despite a line out the door, Humberto keeps the experience personal and does not pack it in just to sell quantity. Once you're in, you have a seat. No one is standing. No mobs to fight through to order a drink. Are the cocktails expensive? Yes and worth every penny. In a city where small beers are 70 kr and Jack and coke is 100 kr, I will gladly pay a bit more for the quality drink you'll get here. An experience not to be missed for visitors and locals, alike. Humberto - please bring your genius to the U.S.!

Love the ambient! Service is great! Bartender is nice and entertaining. So many drink options. Is high on the price side but well worth it.

I am so sad it took me so long to get around to try this place. I am so happy that maybe I didn't know because I would have a lot less money :) From the doorman to every bartender to the cocktail girls going around with water, everyone was very service minded. You an tell they really care about their guests and have a passion for their bar. The place is tastefully decorated and had an AWESOME cocktail list...like the kind where you can't decide what you would like to have because each drink sounds better than the next . The interior is very well thought out and executed, and the bartenders can also just make up drinks based on your alcohol preference and type of cocktails you normally enjoy. I also LOVE that they don't let the place get totally packed so you have room to sit and move around. Besides my neighbrhood bar Atze Peng, this has become my new go to cocktail bar, and I am almost scared of it becoming too popular like some other places in Copenhagen...

Omg! A must try bar. I mean really, if you like cocktails this is a bar you need to try. I was there on a Saturday night. It was quite full but there was enough space to be comfortable. We sat at the bar and therefore I could see the bartenders making all the cocktails. It was like science. Each cocktail was made with different ingredients and with accuracy. Lemon peals, strawberries, nuts, chocolate, chilli, cinnamon sticks, fire and more was used. The bartenders are from Portugal and they really know what they are doing. People go back since they are so hospitable. Everybody is service minded there, and they even have a person to find you a place to sit when you arrive. This is how a professional bar should be. Loved it and the cocktails just have stayed in my mind haunting me to go back! As said: must try!

New cocktail bars always catch my attention - although it feels like there's one popping up every other day! Quite hard to keep up with all of them, but I'm certainly trying my best! The man behind Curfew has a lot of cocktail experience under his belt, having worked at 1105 and in London, so now he opened his own bar in Vesterbro. The interior is really great, a unique mix of minimalist and vintage, displaying an eye for detail and love for the craft of cocktail making. You'll find a large glass cabinet filled with old-school cocktail accessories, bitters bottles, shakers, stirring spoons, and the like. The bar is equally well-equipped. The cocktail menu has a nice selection of classics and the owner's own creations. In my two visits I have now tried a number of cocktails, all of which were fabulous - well-balanced, with interesting and unusual flavors. Among my favorites are the "El Obsequio", with rum and mimosa syrup, which comes in a glass wrapped in brown paper - really cool presentation! The other one I want to mention is the "First Aid", a gin-based cocktail with aloe vera and red grapes - which sounds odd, but tastes amazingly fresh. Curfew quickly endeared itself to me and has become one of my favorite cocktail bars in Copenhagen. I strongly suggest you try it out soon! And finally, this place also has the coolest sign outside. Just sayin'.

Amazing place for drinks... Copenhagen is very expensive when you eat or drink out but if your going to a bar I highly recommend this one for high end drinks! Fab... bartenders were both really cool as well.

Absolutely fantastic all around. The cocktails are excellent. The ambiance is awesome and exactly what I like. Had two drinks: The La Croix Elixir was superb. I highly recommend it The Mahogony was very good in all aspects but my palate preferred the La Croix Elixir.

Ask Antonio for the famous "Cherry Fondle"!

All I can say is that this place made my trip to Copenhagen a reason to come back. A colleague of mine found this place accidentally and immediately knew this place was something special. Being from Boston and drinking many types of beers made us think Denmark would be a great beer experience, but after finding this place on our first night, we decided that cocktails were on the menu each night. This place will throw you back into the 1920's with smooth music and an eccentric setting. The place classes you up and will not make you feel like an outsider! The lead bartenders Humberto and Antonio are pure artist with charisma and charm making you feel like your part of the family as they mesmerize you with their drink mixing techniques! If you don't know what to get from the menu, ask them and they will make you something based on what mood and taste your looking for. They even created a drink for me so if you go, ask Antonio for a "Cherry Fondle". If you can't sit at the bar, that's ok as the wait service is extremely friendly and beautiful with smiles and appreciation for you coming in. Their are couches and soft chairs in the front and back making this a cozy little place for a nice night of experimental drinking or a quick night cap. This by far is the best hidden gem in Copenhagen but not for long!

This place is quite the Copenhagen find. Such a lovely cocktail bar with amazing drinks, speakeasy atmosphere and a cool overall vibe. Great music. The drinks are all so unique and the menu itself is a work of art. Watching this guy make a drink is like going to a magic show. He also has a super cool smoke gun. Recommended drinks: Gin: Little Dragon (that comes in a cool matté glass), First Aid, Rum: Running paparazzo, Curfew punch. Whiskey: Ampicillin (this one he fires with a blow torch like creme brulee). Overall: so much love goes into every drink, worth every pretty penny (or kroner). A+++ Highly recommended if you are around the meat packing district.

Fantastisk Sted At Gå Ned I København!…read more SITREP If you don't read Danish, that's my excited utterance of "Great Place To Crash In Copenhagen!" And a shout out to my yelpie Bridget W. and my trippy Mette for both cluing me onto this veritable hostel paradise! THE SETUP So what happened is on my flight out of Stockholm, Sweden, I ended up with a one (1) day layover in Copenhagen before going on to San Francisco. Now, this was PLANNED - I knew I had the layover: it was either this or pay $400 more for the next least expensive round trip between San Francisco and Stockholm (and back). As it turned out, I was already spending 10 days in the Baltic States with friends, hitting Sweden, Estonia, Russia and Finland. Unfortunately, there was no time in that itinerary to hit Denmark (nor Norway, for that matter, though technically, although also part of "Scandinavia", Norway is not a Baltic state). So an extra stop on the return leg in Copenhagen for a full day presented itself to me and I was happy to take it. DOWNTOWN DISTRICT AND CLOSE TO AIRPORT As soon as I jetted back into Copenhagen Airport (my 2nd time here in addition to my 1st two (2) hour layover in this airport on way to Stockholm), I jumped into the rail-car at the adjacent train station. Not more than 12 mins, I was at the downtown Central Train Station, and only a block and a half from Urban House! URBAN HOUSE It's right on the corner, with the front door in the middle of the block (just a block and a half up from one of the train station's entrances). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=JZdnyOCkTnIibGTVoHJ-bA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w The fees are very reasonable: at the time I was making my reservation for the middle of July, it was $35 a night in a dorm room. I pulled the trigger on a SINGLE room with a bathroom for only $94.71/night. Easily just a third of the cost of even the more "moderately" priced hotels in Downtown Copenhagen, near the airport. And most of the time I would be on a walk-a-bout and not in the room anyways, so I didn't want to waste my money there. The room didn't have a TV anyways - entertainment was outside of the room. ENTERTAINMENT! ..and speaking of entertainment, Urban House had a full-on bar / cafe / "Student Union"-feel open area at street level. In fact, the guy serving beers, took a quick break so he could check me in. The gal that was serving breakfast the next day was the one who checked me out: as it turns out, a good consolidation of tasks combined in their multi-talented staff. I ventured out in the afternoon and evening (twice actually) to grab some excellent Thai food back in the Train Station. And then again to a bar a few blocks away that was hosting a Jazz festival. There was plenty to do, places to eat, immerse oneself into the night life, all within blocks of Urban House. No car needed. THE ROOM As mentioned no TV, but that was not missed. There was a desk and chair which was nice since this is where I spent any of my waking-time while in the room. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=NuynCk7VfBPS6-Fn4XhFuQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w The bathroom was a fascinating engineered piece of configuration, especially when it came to the adjacent proximity of the toilet and shower: a good economy of space! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=AJLhvC82t2aCaZBooEwbAw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w There are never enough pillows wherever I go (hotel, motel, etc.), and unfortunately, this went doubly so for this. It's rare when I have to dip into my travel gear and find a jacket and extra pair of pants and fold/roll them up just so I can get a bit more height on the shallow pillow they give you. It is what it is. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=T9RWvTNb8ZgaFlkcvFW5uw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE LOWDOWN A reasonably affordable stop when touring through Copenhagen. Should I find myself traveling alone in this fair city once more, I totally would consider staying here again.
