When we heard it was a bakery by day, we thought it might be awkward for a dinner service but boy were we wrong. The space was so warm and relaxing, cozy and inviting. And the food and drink? Amazing. My cocktail was one of the best I've had in quite a while. The same for my husband. Really inventive and tasty. And the food was incredible. We had the fois gras, baked cheve, pork chops with polenta, panna cotta and madelienes. Every bite was so wonderful. Thanks so much for a fabulous birthday celebration for me and my husband!

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

For this visit, some people in my group ordered the matcha waffle: matcha silky cream, chocolate drizzle, topped with fresh strawberries, while others including myself got the ube waffle: ube silky cream, drizzled condensed milk, and topped with fresh blueberries, bananas, raspberries, and coconut shavings. By default, these were on the liege waffle which is personally my favorite since it has a crispy and caramel like consistency. The ube cream was very creamy and smooth. The condensed milk was a great touch, as it acted like a syrup. The fresh fruits helped balance out the sweetness. The matcha one was also good. It reminded me a little of the dubai chocolate combination, mostly because of the colors. I've been seeing them add more and more drinks to the menu - mostly ones that resemble the waffle flavors. The prices have not changed much and they're still reasonable for the quality and quantity. There is plenty of seating in the lower area of their store. It is off of Thayer street so depending on the day, parking can be tough.

I ordered the crème brûlée coffee, and while it wasn't bad, it mostly just tasted like regular coffee without that rich, dessert like flavor you'd hope for. On the other hand, the tiramisu latte was actually really delicious. Honestly, I wish I could order a whole cake of just the tiramisu, it was the highlight for me. You definitely get more cake than the coffee, but it worked in its favor and tasted much better than the crème brûlée drink. It was nice to try, especially since everything looks so aesthetically pleasing, but it feels more like a place you visit for the vibe rather than a go to coffee run.

I gave this man simple instructions, I need a freezer bag and if he could pack the slices of cakes in a container that can withstand moisture from the ice because I have to travel 6 hours to bring these cakes home. He said he understood it. He offered that he will wrap the paper boxes in saran wraps. He asked me what time I am coming back and I told him that I will return in 15 minutes, I just want to walk around Federal Hill to find a take out lunch. He has my orders written down and just before I was ready to leave, he said he forgot to charge me for the freezer bag, the first thing that I asked for. So just to make it easier, I just handed him exact cash so he can ring it on the cash register by himself and I can leave. When I came back, it was more than 30 minutes, when I approached him to pick up my order, he said to me that he did not pack them yet and he told me to wait as he is packing somebody else's cake orders who seems to have a bigger order consisting of a lot of different whole cakes. I told him I have a Lyft driver coming but he said he has to take care of that customer first. This is what I am afraid of, this is why I tried to talk to people face to face for better communication and yet the service seems to still lack from this establishment. Mind you, all I ordered was 4 slices of cakes and two brownies. The incompetence is very frustrating and I am refraining myself from losing my cool and I m trying my best not to be rude and scream in frustration for better service as time is ticking and I already paid for the food and service much earlier than all these people. I was debating in my head if I should just ask for a refund but that could take just as long. I don't get a sorry and he is not hassling, he is taking his time, if he just packed mine earlier when it is not even that busy when I originally came, then there will be no issue. So I approached the other cashier who is an Asian girl and she hassled to finish fulfilling the order from her current customer and helped me, I explained to her what I mentioned to the older guy that I needed the slices of cakes protected since they are on paper boxes, and that I was told they can Saran Wrap it. The other guy did not say sorry to me and was just muttering loudly to the Asian girl that he totally forgot to do my order. I recommend that he needs to fulfill the first order before moving to the next customer so he doesn't forget. Some people belong in the back instead of dealing with customers in the front, if this person cannot focus and tends to be forgetful and disorganized, please don't put him in the front. It's infuriating. Time is money and if he doesn't understand that or cannot seem to be efficient, then he should leave the front service to the professional. Food, just what I thought, the moisture from the frozen ice packs I placed inside got in the paper boxes, the Saran Wrap did not work. I hope they have an option for sturdier containers to better protect the pastries inside the freezer bag that they sell.
