My bf and I recently dined here for dinner and really enjoyed the food! We ordered the calamari, spaghetti carbonara, fettucine baresi and their homemade cannoli for dessert. The calamari was nicely fried, light, and was a nice portion size. Both pasta dishes were delicious, but I would highly recommend the carbonara. It was perfectly seasoned and just checked all the boxes. The service was friendly and attentive. They kept checking with the tables to see if anyone needed anything and brought us extra plates for our app. The cannolis were also filled to the brim! The restaurant has plenty of seating with seats at the bar and lots of tables. Definitely recommend this spot for a good pasta! read more

We are so happy we came across Restaurant Maurizio, we absolutely love everything on the menu. We have been coming here for a year now and continued to support and order take out during the last few months. We noticed that pick up is so much better because the Uber drivers were not careful with our orders in the past and even accidentally flipped our pizza. Heads up, order for pickup or enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant The staff is really nice and always hospitable. The restaurant is clean. The food is delicious We tried a few things on Maurizio's new menu that we strongly recommend. All pizzas Side note: The atmosphere and staff has changed during the last few months and my review was started way before the big C. They can be a tad nutty at times depending on who is serving you. They also chase you on the terrace to wear a mask when you are outside and was even screamed at by the new waiter who is very nasty! Food is pretty good, however Service is absolutely awful. Possibly the worst I have ever experienced. Waited 30 minutes for a simple coffee this am. Food was dumped off without checking if we needed anything else. No one came to check on to see if we required anything further. No one even cleared dirty plates. We tried to get someone so we could pay for 20 minutes .... No one bothered to come over. When I tried to tip 10%, due to extremely poor service had my transaction cancelled and the woman changed it to 15%!!!!!!!! DISGUSTING. Save yourself the hassle and don't go here !!!! Great smoked salmon eggs benedict and smoked salmon crepe, however the poached eggs seemed inconsistent - one was cooked firm and the other was cooked soft. Hollandaise sauce tasted good and the meal was satisfying overall. Would have liked it if our water was topped off more often. Parking is plentiful in a strip plaza type parking lot. Patio seating is lovely, but the bushes in close proximity does attract wasps. read more

We came here for the first time after we heard good things about the food. I was more than surprised at how good everything we ordered was. I started with a Caesar salad and ordered a penne with a tomato sauce. The sauce was made in house and was probably the best tomato sauce I ever had. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana, also with a homemade sauce and it was delicious. We finished off with an excellent cup of cappuccino and a homemade cannoli. All in all everything was excellent. Quite a disappointing experience!!! Slow service(1.5 hrs for lunch despite the restaurant being empty), mediocre quality of food, stale cheesecake. This restaurant used to be one of our favourite but it is rapidly declining in quality. Hope the manager fixes the situation quickly. read more

I go there once in a while for their early morning breakfast deal they annonce on a huge torn up banner accross their restaurant's façade...very classy! I always pay more than what the deal says because it is never enough. After the breakfast time the "free" coffee refills will be charged. The staff is nice but may be weary of strangers like me that ask too many questions... Very nice and sunny terrace in the sun for the whole 3 months we can enjoy it. Very quiet neighbourhood. Cannot say anything about their lunch or dinner fare, never tried it. read more

Nice looking place with a date worthy atmohphere, but the food tasted generic and very fatty, it's a good place to treat your kids on junk-day. Soup of the day was named something I didn't recognized but we tried it anyways, waitress said it had egg in it, which peeked my curiosity. Wasn't awful but we didn't really enjoy it. Tasted very strongly like that store bought "lipton chicken powder", which I found a bit offensive for a restaurant to charge me 6$ for. I liked the idea of many floating broken thin pieces of eggs, which had a similar texture to pasta, it was actually nice. Some greens leaves, probably parsley. We didn't like how the soup felt like basically just water, but for me it was worse because I could have done that at home since I have that chicken powder too... It's ok to have a soup that is mostly broth as a style, but that broth better be out of this world since it would be the main focus. If they had given crackers, this would had been perfect for kids or those picky popular anxiety ridden adults. Rustica Pizza: We all liked the pizza. We shared it as an apetizer. 20$ for 4 wide slices. The fancy ingredients were not noticed since the heavy texture and flavor of the mozerella overpowered them. They could have replaced the fancy expensive meat with regular cheap deli ham and we would not have noticed. The outer crust was very nice but the dough under all the topings was undercooked. I liked the idea of how the dough was homemade there, that's nice. We should have asked them to slice it into 6 smaller slices instead of the automatic 4 big ones, which was odd since they knew all 3 of us were sharing it as an apetizer. Panino Almafi: My mom didn't like her veal sandwich, but only told the waitress after it was done. The waitress explained that if she didn't like it, she was supose to ask for extra toppings like pickles or something. She shared it with my bro, who said it was too greasy. She really liked the salad it came with, said the dressing was very tasty, and they both enjoyed the potato fries a lot. Linguine alla Pescators: My bro didn't find this seafood linguini worth praising, he is the silent type though. When I asked him, he just shrugged, so that means it wasn't bad. Gnocchi Scampi: I had this, came with a rose sauce, shrimp, and scampi. My first time trying Scampi, I didn't know it would be like shrimp/lobster. I liked the scampi very much, it was very moist, tender, almost like little thin lobster tails. The shrimp was overcooked though, and some of them were hard. The scampi were half in their shells and the shrimp still had their tail shells only, which I'm sure others are use to this, but for me I didn't like the idea of shells on meat when it's mixed in sauce already. The sauce had a nice heavy creamy texture, though the garlic and herbs was very low (perfect for these Montreal wimps), not my preference. Salt and pepper helped, but not something I would have again.The plate arrived right after the waitress took our pizza plates away, so our food was sitting on their counter for I don't know how long, but my sauce was congealed, which explains why the shrimp were overcooked, since they sat there and continued cooking in the plate of hot sauce. Yummy Mangolia: My bro said he liked it when I asked him. It came in a nice curvy glass and looked nice and thick. Pinacolata: Ok and very simple. The y.m. looked more appealing. Their long bar looked really nice inside and the terass seating was humble, clean, and cute. We ate inside along the wall, which had comfortable bench seats and proper air conditioning, as well as a not cluttered and breathable atmosphere. Plenty of parking in the shared lot and easy access to a few city buses. The young lady who seated us and refilled our water, explained that she didn't know anything about the food menu and only about the bar drinks. With a nice looking bar like that, I could imagine it's worth it for them to have someone who specializes in drinks. Our waitress was nervous, pushy, and tried to hurry us up. The place was fairly empty during our stay, but I imagine that meant staff were busy with other chores in the back. Each order didn't take too long to arrive to our table, but it did take long to grab the waitress's attention, especially when waiting for our bill, which took over 20 minutes, then overly chatty as we were paying, probably to get a better tip. Ordering: I asked this waitress which foods on the menu was fresh and not frozen, and she broke into a state of panic and offense that she couldn't really hold back. She explained that no restaurant in Montreal buys non-frozen meat, because if they did then they would be constantly throwing out too much food and profit. Also that meats are frozen while fresh to preserve their fresh quality. At least she was able to tell me that their pizza dough and 3 pasta dishes were made fresh and not frozen. To remain brief; my wife and I wanted to try this place for a while since it was nearby where we had to run errands. We went there for breakfast and it was hands down the best breakfast in a restaurant we have had in a long time. Food was carefully arranged, cooked to perfection, home-made breakfast potatoes which are sublime, and the best breakfast sausages I myself have ever had. They also have an impressive coffee selection which is also prepared with care. Very friendly service, this place can not be recommended enough. We will deffinately return, and try their luch and dinner menu if we are in the area! read more

Love the Piri Piri Chicken! Although, I eat here a fair bit it's the only thing that I have ever tried. It's that delicious. My family has explored the menu of pasta and pizza and no one has ever left dissapointed. Service is super friendly and very accommodating. They have a large terrace which is great in the summer - only downside is the view into the parking lot and onto St. Charles. One day I decided to go for brunch and was really surprised by how big it was inside and the quality of food and portions. It might be my new go to brunch spot. Now, I'm not a very big Italian foodie. In fact, if I had to eat pasta or human flesh, I would have to take a minute to think about it. So I went out with My Uncle Larito and his girlfriend, Nancita and their friend Anita. The outside of the establishment was a little rough, the CA from the word CAFE was missing, and there was a running joke that Cafe Maurizio was a cafe of the fairies. I understand that this place is now under new management (due to a very hokey red banner over the door). Inside we are greeted by two thick curtains separated by a pillar. I was a little afraid that I would hit someone on the other side. Nancita went through the curtain with grace, but I was a little clumsy as the drape decided to get to know me better by clinging to my jacket. Once inside, Fe Maurizio is quite large and very well decorated. A large bar with various wines and liqueurs, a small pastry case at the end with a small window that looks into the kitchen. Very Clean. We sat down in quite a nice spot, in the front part of the restaurant. There were a few other parties farther back in the restaurant that seemed to be having a good time. The table was clean, neat, and very well set. We were greeted by our 'waiter'. He didn't have the air of a waiter, but rather the proprietor. Larito was curious and joked around with our waiter Raphael. He was really quite a great person to serve us. He even took a look at my wrist problem after saying that he studied massage. He was quite the wonderful addition to our meal experience. He was very forthcoming with his recommendations on the menu. Larito took his suggestion head on and ordered the Ravioli in a rose sauce. Nancita went with the Spaghetti Picasso. I got the cannelloni meal deal that came with coffee, Caesar salad, and a dessert. Anita was craving bruschetta and asked for a side of balsamic vinegar with some boconchini. The meal was quite good. The cannelloni came with three pieces in a red sauce. The pieces were not thicker than a loonie with a meat mixture inside. I would have liked to have been told this. I love my cheese and spinach cannelloni when I decide not to eat human flesh. I had a few bites of Larito's ravioli, which was quite nice. The rose sauce was round but not overpowering. There were bits of ham and other things floating around with the pasta. All in all, it was nice. The Spaghetti Picasso, however, I found not all that amazing. In fact, it was overpowering. There were olives with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms in a rose sauce. All of the flavours were so overwhelming that I couldn't take more than one bite. A different type of pasta would have worked better as well. I didn't have the bruschetta, but I was told it was wonderful. It was tomato on thinner bread, almost a pita. She had drizzled balsamic and oil all over it. Honestly, if I wasn't so full from my three (yes, they were actually filling) cannelloni, I would have loved to have a bite. It did look fantastic. Raphael did some back a few times, not as much as I would have liked considering that there were only two or three other parties dining that night. We had finished eating and sat there for five or so minuted before the plates were collected. I also had to ask for my coffee and dessert. The coffee was okay, not the best I've ever had, but more of a standard fare. Nancita had a cafe mocha, which came with a generous amount of real whipped cream on top. She ordered two of them, so I'm assuming that it was good. Raphael was very accommodating with the dessert, he split it in two so that we all could enjoy it. The dessert was some kind of walnut brownie that had a fudge-base frosting on top. It would have been better if it wasn't cold. It was also dry, but can I honestly expect a restaurant that is missing their 'CA' out front to have a pastry hand? No, no, and definitely not. All in all, the experience was a positive one. The prices were on the higher side, especially for pasta. I guess I'm spoiled, I've only ever found one man that can make pasta that I enjoy, and that is my Grandfather. His putanesca sauce is to die for, and this is coming from me - the 'I'd rather eat human flesh' lady. I am very neutral to this place, I do not know if the architecture was due to the new management, and I'm guessing renaming this establishment into a Resto Cafe rather than just a Cafe was the reason for Fe Maurizio hanging overhead. It was good, but not good enough that I'd put it aside in my mind as a place that I'd love to go to again. Any asian places in the area? :D read more

We stood there at the entrance wondering if we were to seat ourseleve and when we asked the waitress she was very rude about it. It took 10 minutes for a waitress to show up... With water. Rude as hell. 22 minutes for coffee. I dont know but you usually get coffee first thing when you go into a breakfast place. We ordered and when they finally beought the food a different waitress was serving it and was very cold and basically yelling our orders at us and we couldnt even tell her who ordered what before ahe huffed and puffed. One of us received our eggs benedict with egg shells in them. Upong replaceing that plate no where was their an apology. They proceeded to charge us for the plate which anytime ive been to any restaurant they will deduct the plate from your bill. The potatoes on all 4 of our plates were cold. They assumed which bread we wanted. No coffee refills. Do i really need to go on.. Lets just say that it was bad service bad food and we will not be returning ever. We do NOT recommend this for anyone. If i could give negative stars i would. Hopefully the owners will see this and wake up before its too late. read more
