We were seated upstairs, which was a little cold but it was -13 outside with a windchill of -23, so understandable. We ordered a bottle of Syrah and 2 burgers. The wine came within 2 minutes and the burgers arrived 3 minutes after that. I had the David smash with poutine and my husband had the Sacre Bleu with onion rings. Both were fantastic. The David smash was exactly the right size for me and the poutine was great. The onion rings were crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. My husband loved his burger too. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. We would definitely recommend.

The ambiance was lively but still comfortable enough to have a conversation with your company without screaming or repeating. Servers were very polite and knowledgeable. My friend and i underestimated how much food we ordered and the were kind enough to move us to another table and assisted with us getting seated seamlessly without being responsible for carrying anything over. They really know how to describe what eat dish was and what to expect when ordering the specific items. During the summers they have a cutie patio where you can enjoy your coffee brunch and just enjoy the outdoor air and feel the sun it's such a nice feeling. Don't be intimidated by the french, the menu still has english on it but if you need a better description that's where the server fills in the blank. I'm definitely revisiting when i'm in town again!

Café Parvis ended up being the perfect choice for my birthday meal during a solo trip to Montreal--…read moreexactly the vibe I was hoping for. I sat at the bar and had a lovely vegetable soup, a burrata appetizer, and a glass of wine. Everything was simple, well executed, and comforting without feeling heavy. It felt intentional and relaxed -- ideal when you're dining alone but still want something special. The bartender struck the perfect balance: friendly and attentive, but not overly chatty. It made the experience feel easy and welcoming without being intrusive. If you're traveling solo or just want a great spot to enjoy a quiet, quality meal at the bar, Café Parvis is an excellent choice.

Our first day in Montreal and we were walking down the street looking for lunch. We stumbled on…read moreKYK's and liked the look of this classic pub. So in we go! There was a nicely selected set of local beers on the menu. We had a few and they were great. I won't detail them as I think the selection changes routinely. It was tough to decide what to get. I was poutine-curious but was unsure about the foie gras gravy. Andrew ordered the poutine with the duck confit. He loved it and said it was among the best poutine he has had. I went for the traditional mussels as Andrew said this is a thing to get in Montreal, they will do it well. He was right, the bowl was huge and the mussels and sauce were excellent. The only thing I would change is I like a baguette with mussels more than fries so if that is an available substitution I would be all in. I loved this place, I would go back again when I return to Montreal.

NYKS has a proper Guinness pint, which I can appreciate. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the fish and chips. Both were AMAZING. The French onion soup was good, hot, very beefy. The place really cleared out by the time we were done at eight, so might recommend coming later if you don't want to wait. Overall, great place. I would definitely recommend.

That was due in part to some new breakfast options since last time, which I'll file under "Ridiculously decadent and delicious." This time, for me, that was their "Indecisive" breakfast option including the Dubai Chocolate French Toast. Since my last visit, I've also switched from coffee to tea, and my order included English Breakfast. I was wondering why it took so long to arrive, my thought was, "It's just hot water and a tea bag." Bzzzt, wrong! I was actually brought a heavy duty porcelain teapot with the English Breakfast leaves steeping, and they did not deliver it until it was ready. Well done!! For me, no trip to Montreal is complete without a visit to at least one L'Avenue restaurant (yes there are more!)
